Punch A Tree Log
A Twisted Rumor
It's the day after the Fallen Star Meeting regarding the recent rumor. As morning brightens the city's night, stories are making their way from the bottom level to the top.
"The cherry blossom tree isn't going to hurt us, is it? It looks so scary."
For those who have learned the truth about rumors, this may especially distressing to hear. There's no time to wait: If anything is going to be done to save the tree's spirit, it must be done now.
The current plan is to address the tree spirit's wish to be remembered and acknowledged by holding a picnic by the lonely cherry blossom tree. Fallen Stars hope to reenact the lively Reblooming parties that had been happening on the upper levels all month. This tree, though the origin of that tradition, exists at the bottom level of Starsand City: Where spirits and kami are still feared. The hope is that this party will soothe the raging spirit and bring it peace... and, ideally, bring back all of the people who have recently gone missing.
But the meeting also ended on a note of caution. If the spirit will not peacefully give up the missing people, then more drastic measures may need to be taken. And... Spoiler alert, but this log is titled tree FIGHT.
Timeline of Events
This log will operate a bit different from normal! It's also an experiment, so if it doesn't work then apologies in advanced! In order to maintain an easy-to-follow timeline of events, there will be a top-level for each stage of the encounter. As the encounter progresses, new top-levels will be added to reflect each stage of the Rumor.
Character top-levels are still welcome, but please try to use the top-levels for time sensitive threads. Threadjacking is welcomed & encouraged, though please be respectful of one another. And of course, make use of the feedback section!
Backtagging is also still welcome. Event stages will be staggered over the course of the next week & past threads still have time to make an impact. Please don't feel rushed!

AFTERMATH
As the blossoms begin to settle, it is possible to see what remains of the cherry blossom... A stump of white wood rests in the middle of the park. In the center is a tiny sapling, which will rapidly grow over the course of the next year. Blossoms begin piling up in the shape of people and turn into those who had disappeared. They're confused, saying they feel like they just woke from a dream, and unharmed. Most of these people will gradually return to the upper levels to reunite with loved ones, but many will stay for the picnics.
Because yes. The picnics continue.
Civilians have arrived with their own picnic baskets, encouraged by the posters that Fallen Stars put up and wanting to apologize to the cherry blossom spirit. They lay out new blankets and baskets, encouraging tired Fallen Stars to rest and eat. Petals will fall throughout the night and into dawn, with the picnic party beginning to fizzle out after sunrise.
All the while, the kami of Love's power will remain thick in the air. It encourages healing and calm, lending to a peaceful atmosphere. The rest of the party will pass by peacefully. For Fallen Stars who are tired and need to immediately go to bed, lodgings will be provided at the Kami of Love's shrine. For those who wish to party or nap at the picnic, they'll find that civilians eagerly provide for them and offer many thanks. This is a miracle and they can't even begin to express their gratitude.
... You did it! You saved the spirit!
She can be found at the sapling, where she is a weak little glow of pink light. Weak, but free.
This thread can be used for reunions, recovery, and general partying.

Oh, uh, thanks! I mean, no problem! I'm just glad everyone's safe, and to be honest, everyone being nice all of a sudden is all we really need... I mean, thank you?
[You can also just find her sitting on one of the picnic blankets, nervously looking at the food provided.]
This is free for everyone, right?
no subject
[Atsushi is also settled on one of the blankets, though he's hesitant to open the baskets right away. There's so much free food..! It feels like a trap..!]
Looks like the picnic idea really caught on in the end, huh?
no subject
Yeah, even with how hard it was to get anybody to listen! Who knew curing the Rumour would fix everything right away?

Huh? Wasn't I studying..?
[She reaches into her pocket and takes out a pocket mirror, which she uses to examine her eyes. Distracted by this, she doesn't immediately notice anyone approaching.]
I look normal enough... What's going on?
no subject
Hey there. You missed most of the action. Which must be a big shame for a justice-bringer like you.

He quietly catches petals in his hands, watching as they seem to fall infinitely from the sky.]
Geez. They really overdid it, didn't they..? I owe them all at least a week's worth of meals for this.

[Tau comes over to him sometime after she welcomes back her sister.]
You are back. Mom and I cleaned the cafe for you...but then everyone used it to prepare for today...so it is no longer clean...

Fauna stands, a bit changed. Streaks of gold in her red hair, a bit more muscle mass, hair poofed up like a lion's mane. It seems whatever she did there, rapidly shifting between her forms and immediately drawing out their full power, took something of a toll on her.
She's just standing back, trying not to stand out. She spots Chron- Chron's back, good- and Satou- god, what should she do-
She does the only thing she can think to do.
Fauna simply backs away from the group, away from the lights, away from the noise and crowds. If she just vanishes into the night, then that's the best way for her to go.]

Well. He's seen that look before. He's felt that emotion before. It's regret. Immense regret.
The kind where something dangerous might happen if he just lets it go. So he doesn't. He strolls back, casually switching direction.]

[Sorry, Fauna. Dimitri teleports behind her, smiling calmly despite all of the recent action. He is, likewise, doing his best not to draw attention to himself. Which is odd given how his cloak sparkles like space itself and his eyes glow violet. Still, no one seems able to notice him next to her.]

Although I guess I should be glad that I'm not as tired as most of everyone here.

His expression becomes sheepish. Inaba had rooted him in place, even when he doubted things would turn out okay on their own. That's pretty shameful and has him bowing to her.]

Is he skeptical of every sandwich in every picnic basket? Yes.
Is he squinting at the sky and it's suspicious blossom supply? Yes.
But most of all, he's having to cover his nose from time to time. Why must tigers have good senses of smell? And why must that damn thing be as paranoid as he is and manifest when everything stinks of roses?? It was a nice small at first, but now it's becoming annoying!]
... Would it be wrong if I took some sandwiches home?

Free things are free for a reason, Atsushi. That's just smart accounting.

But there's no time to rest. She can't show herself being tired. Instead she sits down on the tree stump, mindful of the sapling, and watches the partying.]
Now what do I do..?

The same thing as everyone else, I suppose. Try to relax. Enjoy yourself. I can imagine you don't get the chance to do that too often.

Though she's still not going to speak first- Rather, her hesitance and her body language make her look like someone who's expecting to get mauled by a bear for daring to endanger her cubs, and has accepted that she deserves it. Still, she's going to let Satou take the first move, here- Fauna isn't going to try to dictate any of this encounter, even if she has stuff to say.]

[While other people seemed to be praised, she could hear them whisper about her. She wanted to just disappear for a while, but...not only would that probably make the whispers worse, she just was out of energy to do it.]
[Instead, she took one look around, trying to memorize the happy feel of everyone else to dream about later, and tried her best to sneak off.]

She's a bit more stable now, but exhaustion has gotten to her greatly, and people who weren't in the fight might now notice that the chip on her horn has grown a little larger. Not by a significant amount, but by enough that it's noticeable.
She doesn't seem to be moving much from her spot, but she seems to be much more relaxed, or at least as someone who's overdone it can be.
If anyone wishes to speak with her, she's here, at the very least. Even if her gaze isn't entirely there. ]

"Oyashiro-samaaa!"
[-- is all the warning that Hanyuu gets before someone teleports next to her (rather than walking the two yards previously between them,) and tries to hug her. Yuuto
isn't doing much better, with blood on his clothes and a freezing cold touch, but you'd hardly guess it with how bright his smile is.]
