NPC Contact

These threads can be used to initiate interactions with the various NPCs of the setting. You are welcome to contact NPCs as often and as many times as you want in order to interrogate the setting or form bonds with them. Contact can be as actions or, if your character has met the NPC before, by using an audio or video private calling method.

If there’s a particular line of inquiry or setting detail you are investigating, feel free to mention so in the thread. I will try to focus the replies on answering the questions your characters are investigating.

KAMI of LOVE

It is said that Starsand City is built upon the foundation of her love. The Kami of Love is the one who revealed the existence of spirits to the world five years ago and started the “Faith Revolution” era of this world. She lives in a large shrine (more like a castle) and invites the citizens to visit at any time. When you have a problem, the people of Starsand will first suggest that you go to the Kami of Love to solve it.

KAMI of CURIOSITY

This Kami gains power from the questioning nature of humans, which makes him quite powerful compared to his fellow Kami. His shrine acts as the city library and is open to the public. Specific questions can be written on paper and left at the front desk, where the Kami of Curiosity will leave his reply within 24 hours. Curiously (ha,) he also has the power to heal wounds. When civilians are grievously injured, they will be taken to this Kami for healing. Some people have even claimed that they’ve died, only to wake up in the library without any injury.

A 15 year old girl, who often helps Fallen Stars settle into Starsand City. She tries to give off an air of authority and claims that helping people is her job. When she isn’t offering her help around the city, Chron can be found at the local high school. She’s a member of the student disciplinary committee there and one of the top students. Chron is also quite liberal with handing out her “work number” to the people that she meets, encouraging Fallen Stars to call if they need anything.

YUUTO

A quiet resident of the city, who seems about an elusive as a stray cat. When he does get talking, Yuuto is an energetic person and surprisingly friendly. He’s quick to help people in need, but has a way of disappearing the moment that you turn away from him. The people of Starsand can’t say much about him, but mention his strange pink-gold eyes and someone is bound to tell you about a helpful ghost with similar eyes.

MIKALE reed

One of the residents of Starsand City and the owner of the “Heart Bakery.” Though, he will sigh and quietly insist that you just call it “The Bakery.” His bakery gives all leftover products to the Fallen Stars and he hires baking assistants in the morning. Mikale himself is quietly generous, willing to lend help to the other worldly visitors. He also frequents the Shrine of Love and Shrine of Curiosity, often acting as an assistant.

DIMITRI

You’ll rarely hear about this young man, nor are you very likely to find him. He tends to show up for only the briefest of moments, usually in places that sell books or offer tea. Those who have had run-ins may know that he’s two-faced. He can be incredibly pleasant and cheerful or irritable and stern. Whatever mind you find him in, his dark cloak is what draws most attention. It shimmers like a starry sky if you’re lucky enough to see it for long.

The natives that did want to help managed to give her information... and it's enough for Hanyuu herself to visit. While she still has her horns hidden behind her buns, she doesn't hide her presence.

Although she can't say she's sure if anyone could tell what she is at a glance, or by what little power she even has left. And besides, she doesn't have much of it left, after utilizing it for so long, for so many years.]

... Excuse me. Is the kami of this shrine here?

[The shrine attendants, at least, are welcoming towards Hanyuu. They don't seem to know she's a Fallen Star, but they give no indication of checking either. No one stops her entry and some even back up to her space.

When the kami does appear, it's from one of the gates leading into a central visitor's garden. Her hair is straightened and her clothes are surprisingly plain for someone labeled "kami." The oddest part of her appearance as her eyes and her unnatural white pupils.]

Yes, I'm here... [Satou blinks her eyes, noting Hanyuu's unusual presence.] To whom do I owe this pleasure?

[ She's honestly a little surprised when she got the invitation but after a day, Inaba's actually a bit nervous. She decides to have the nullification abilities off while entering the shrine. ]

[ Of course she has plans on visiting, especially after she and Yuuto has spoken about holding the Watanagashi here. And while Hanyuu still has some memory problems due to having overworked herself, she does vaguely recall that she's been here, that she's spoken to this kami before.

[ Inaba waits a few days before she decides to make this trip.

After all, she both wants her own space, but also wants time. Time to figure out what she's going to say. Time for Satou to at least relax a little bit, even though she's absolutely certain this conversation could go south real fast.

There's a distinct fear that runs through her but she's going to be brave. See if she'll hear anything from Satou, first.

[ As promised Akutagawa set up a meeting with Satou soon after. There was... a lot to talk about, though not all of it was unpleasant. He was... perhaps a little bit nervous about speaking with her now. She had been one of the first people he met in this world, so he had to wonder what she thought of him now after all of this. ]

Satou-san. It's nice to see you again.

[ he pauses, a little awkwardly ]

Ryoko mulled it over multiple times, trying to weigh her options, whether or not she should actually come here after everything that's happened... sure, the kami were pretty much on their side, but she couldn't help but fret over the thought of meeting someone that was important.

Like... they're a big deal, right?! This was like her going up to some local celebrity, wasn't it?! But more importantly, would she be able to see right through her reason for even being here? Sure, she wanted to make sure that she was okay after everything, but also...

Nope! Never mind! Just go do it already, Asakura-san!

After finally, finally getting over herself, Ryoko approaches the Kami of Love's shrine, a tidy wrapped container in her possession. Definitely like she's trying to introduce herself to a new neighbor. ]

Um... hello! Is the kami available? I have a present-- oh, I mean, offering?

[ It's still fairly early in the morning by the time they finish spending time together. He'd had breakfast ready for her when she arrived at the cafe and he was careful to avoid talking about too terribly emotional topics while they relaxed and chatted. It was only afterwards that he brought up the topic of his dream the night before. ]

... You're aware that I had... an early wake-up call this morning. The reason I did was because the one known as Ariel came to me, and presumably others in a dream to express concern about us and to warn us. You're probably aware of what she warned us about by now, but she finished telling me early and had more time for me to ask her questions about herself specifically...

She says that she is also a Spacetime Kami. That she cannot be "born" because her concept is already claimed, and that she is the one responsible for bringing the Fallen Stars here.

[ Things have been settling down slowly in the aftermath of the attack. Epsilon has been busy up until then with getting the situation with Mu under control. He only suppressed what he had to- he left a few things for her, including her precious stuffed animals.

Regardless, he's resigned himself to his new role, and if he was throwing his safety to the wind he might as well allow himself a small moment of weakness. So here he was, out in the flower gardens surrounding the shrine of love. This is the closest he's allowed himself to be to his family in several years- since he gave up on escaping.

And honestly, he was still wary about being here. He still doesn't know what might happen if Satou remembered him now. Or worse- if she didn't remember him at all. He's not even sure if she's in her shrine today, so he's kept himself visible as he wandered his way through the maze. Maybe she'd see him and come outside? Maybe it would be better if she wasn't here. ]

[ The only reason Chuuya comes is...well, it's apt, right? He's definitely curious. He doesn't know enough about the whole kami deal, though he learnt a little from Ink. He knows he can't ask Dazai anything and expect a straight answer, so he goes to the source. He hopes that's how this works.

He writes down his question on a piece of paper, intending to come back tomorrow for the answer. ]

When I got here, I was asked if I was a kami. Am I one? I figure I count. What do I do about it?

Hope you don't mind getting a bunch of wrapped up boxes at your shrine. They're relatively big in size in fact. And what is included is--

Yeah, it looks like she went back to the computer place and bought some stuff. There's a laptop, a USB, and a projector that you'd typically see at schools.

Oh, and there's one (1) item, that isn't technology-based: a journal. It's a rather plain, but light blue colored one.

Didn't know if you had these already, but if you do, now you have more. The USB contains a few files that I thought would be useful, including a powerpoint about spirit pacts accompanied with drawings to make it easier for younger kids to swallow. And you can project it pretty easily, too!

Hm. Well. There's definitely more than I remembered. That's bad news for us. But at least I made notation of the exits. That'll do.

I don't need to do anything else, anyway. And this disguise seems pretty foolproof...

[Naturally, Kokichi picked a disguise that would fit his build and appearance. Contacts, a wig, and...he'd probably put on a bit more makeup before the day came, but this was good enough to just wear it out once.]
