【WINDCHIMES EVENT】
damn windchimes
The Bonds That Tie Us
It’s the later end of June now and the summer heat is getting pretty stupid. Though Wind and Water spirits still bring cool breezes and rain showers, most of civilians hang around the pools or in their homes with wide open windows. There’s been a burst of curiosity regarding a new shrine that is being built for the Kami of Sin, especially with exciting talk of an upcoming festival. Whether intended or not, this eager gossip has led to the ghost stories falling in popularity. And now, the Fallen Stars are here to put those nasty Rumors to rest once and for all.
This event is split into a few parts and forward dated for convenience. It will end right before the Watanagashi Festival.
The Windchimes Rumor
The main Rumor for this event is the Windchimes Rumor. Though the scam operation will be successful in restoring the Love Kami's faith and discouraging the sale of more windchimes, the lingering effects of the curse will remain.
On the night of June 17th, a sudden meteor shower will be announced over the news. Everyone in the city gathers outside that night for the chance to see shooting stars and the civilians encourage their Fallen Star neighbors to participate. It's a peaceful night and nothing will seem out of the ordinary.
On the morning of June 18th, this will prove to have been misleading. Characters whose names were written thoughtfully on windchimes will have vanished overnight. Their beds are empty and there is no sign of a struggle. A quick investigation will find that the windchime hung in their honor has turned pitch black and somehow negates light rather than reflecting it. It's quite plain to see that the windchimes are involved in the disappearances.
Fortunately, there will be methods to find the missing characters. But the missing aren't helpless either.
Missing characters will wake up in a strange facility, lightly bound and sore from travel. They will be able to band together and not only escape the facility, but finally investigate the group that is causing Rumors.
In other words, there will be two groups for the event. Group A with be focused on action and fighting, while Group B will be focused on investigating a clue gathering.
This part of the event will not immediately go live, giving players some time to plan which group they want to be in. If you want to be in Group B but did not have your characters' name hung up, there will still be ways to get in Group B!

【MERGE】 Trials 3 & 5 | Rui, Velda, Kokichi, Ryoma
No matter where they are, they feel the change. First, the mechanical humming from their containment cell begins again. It rumbles through the floor and seems to have an artificial control on their attention. The lights around them slowly dim out, bit by bit, until they're in total darkness...
Except for their own light. Their bodies continue to glow and once their eyes adjust to it, they will see that they are not alone. There are four glowing bodies around them. A familiar voice whispers through the darkness: "There's a switch... in the basement..."
The darkness fades. Rui, Velda, Kokichi, and now Ryoma are all standing in the same hallway together.

Ryoma.
Oh, that's a relief. What isn't, of course, is hearing the girl's voice. A switch in the basement. Perhaps that's how to get out.
But he's kind of too taken by a certain amount of relief as he bolts over and hugs Ryoma when the lights turn back on again.]
See, I told you I was okay!
[He chirps, smiling sweetly.]
Rui and Velda are okay, too! We're gonna get out if we get that basement switch!
...But when we get home, I wanna take a nap. I did a lot today, Ryoma.

He didn't recognize the girl at all, but he thought he remembered the purple haired one hanging around Kokichi a little bit. Either way they aren't his focus.
His eyes are trained on Kokichi the second he can recognize him.
The lights soon come back and they're standing in a different hallway than he was before. Dazai wasn't here, and a part of him was worried that something might've happened to him, but he puts it out of his head as Kokichi comes running towards him. He doesn't resist the hug. Kokichi's probably the only one he doesn't mind it from, and he has been taking full advantage of that knowledge. ]
Hey, bud.
[ This time he actually hugs him back- though he's still clutching his beanie in one hand. It's filled with the magic marbles he'd collected. He was going to hang onto those for as long as he could. For all he knew they could be useful. ]
Good to see it. You had me worried there.
[ Because both of them know they're susceptible to much more than just physical pain. Physical pain is probably preferable to some of the mental turmoil they've gone through today.
He considers the strangers again briefly, noting the names and giving both a small but respectful nod ]
Good. We probably shouldn't drag our feet then.
[ His expression softens a bit upon hearing Kokichi's request, and he pats Kokichi's back with his free hand. ]
That's fine Kokichi. It's been a long day, I'm definitely not going to stop you.

[Velda waves and picks a stray mushroom from behind her ear, then tosses it back down the hallway.]
Rui knows the way around this place, so I'm sure we can find it. Do you know where we are now? I'm still a little tired, but I can manage some more spells with a bit of rest. [She touches her throat and nods.]

She only gave me the path to the exit, not the whole building. I have access codes, and where the traps are on the way to the exit, but if we want to head to the basement, we'll have to guess. Do we know that we need to get to the switch to leave? That's the same voice that gave us our task to kill each other. Should we really blindly trust what she's saying?
no subject
Buuuuuuuut. I am way too curious to ignore something being laid out for me like that. That is cheese. I am a rat. I gotta know.
no subject
... We can be pretty sure if she's acting on her own that she's at least telling the truth. I don't know about an exit, but we should probably flip that lever.
[ He looks to Kokichi as he speaks next ]
In my trial we were in the first room and were told to kill the other two in the room, but the message partly cut off at the end, and she told us that the Spacetime Kami was coming. And he did show up right after we shattered the glass. It caused an alarm and the group got split.
I don't know why she did it, but she warned us. Make of that what you will.

Alright, but if we're doing this we're going to at least try not to get horribly lost in the process. I really don't want to die here. Does anyone here know of any way we can mark the path we're taking, so we can double back later. The subtler the better, but really anything will work.
no subject
[His attention turns back to Ryoma.]
What's with your fancy shiny rocks in your beanie, Ryoma-nii? Ne? Can we use those?
[He is not conscious of what he said. Don't point it out?]
no subject
That's not the problem. There's two Spacetime Kami, so they're cancelling their concept out. We met the second one later when Theta tried to get us to murder him to prove ourselves, but that's a story for when we get out.
[ Rui's suggestion is a solid one, and perhaps he would have stated as much if Kokichi hadn't thrown him for a second. He's never called him that before. Hoshi-chan and without an honorific, sure, but he's never been so blatant about seeing him as a brother before. For now he leaves it be without addressing it. ]
Remember the glass wall that I broke? Turns out this is what it was made of. I think it's probably magic of some kind. We might be able to use them, but they glow and roll around so we'd have to be careful placing it so it doesn't get us lost worse.
no subject
[Just saying. She does look over the shards, though, and hums.]
So you're thinking some kind of tracking spell, like you'd use so you stop losing your dorm key?

【MERGE】 actually it's just dazai missing the magic train
When the lights turn on again, Ryoma is gone.
The humming of the distant machine continues.
The floor shakes under his feet.
no subject
[Dazai's eyes widen. He glances around.]
Ryoma?
[Well. Apparently he's lost his companion. He glances down at the boy in his arms, and...]
Well, I suppose I've at least got one companion.
[He begins walking down the hallway again, but feels the rumble under his feet.]
...
[Is there anything notable about the floor? He's halfway tempted to look for that machine, since he's not quite certain of the way out of here....]
no subject
It's taken him a while, but the boy in Dazai's arms finally regains consciousness. He reaches out blindly at first, violet eyes brightly lit and open.]
The... ta... Sorry, I- [Dimitri winces, drawing his hands back to cover the stab wound in his shoulder.] What the hell happened..?
no subject
And then the SpaceTime kami wakes up.]
Good morning, young man! The short version of events is that your sister attempted to use you as part of a god-test that I and another friend of mine partook in. She sped off, and I decided I'd rather not kill anyone today, and your mother would be pretty cross with me if I did - so here we are!
My friend disappeared, though...so I'm fine with either looking for him or leaving. How are you feeling?
no subject
You know mom..? [He can put on airs all that he wants, but Dimitri is a sixteen year old boy. His first thought when he sees his bloody palm is to wish his mother would save him.
But he knows she can't, so tries to bury that childish hope. In its place, Dimitri tries to sound annoyed rather than scared;] I got stabbed. How do you think I feel?
no subject
And I dunno. Some people are really good at taking being stabbed, some aren't. I'm someone who is good at it. I guess you're not, though.
[He glances around.]
Do you know this place and the way out? Orrr...any idea where anyone else that isn't thirsting for murder might be?
no subject
But where Yuuto blindly throws his trust at people who know Satou, Dimitri does not. Anyway can think they're Satou's friend. She is love incarnate, after all. His decision to trust Dazai is cautious and he's ready to withdraw that at a moment's notice.
Dimitri tries to shift out of Dazai's hold, even if it isn't necessarily his smartest idea. Going with Theta was pretty dumb too.]
Yeah, to both. I used to live here... It's generated by magic.
no subject
[If he can actually stand, he'll let him go, but if he's not strong enough...yeah, no. He's leaning towards no.]
Then I suppose our best shot now may be to get out of here, get you some medical care, and report back to your mom. If you could assist me with that, I'd very much appreciate it.
no subject
We need to destroy the magic source first. Otherwise this place is like a maze of nightmares. Are you very strong?
no subject
Weeeeeelll, I'm not stabbed, I've got the strength of a pretty built 22-year old man, I know some martial arts, AND I have a gun!
So, tentatively, the answer is yes!
no subject
[Dimitri sighs-- a disguised groan of pain,-- and puts his bloodied hand on the wall.]
Fine. Follow me... We're going to the machine under our feet.
no subject
[That hand is concerning, but he doesn't remark upon it other than that implication.]
Alright. How are we getting there?
