The Bonds That Tie Us

It’s the later end of June now and the summer heat is getting pretty stupid. Though Wind and Water spirits still bring cool breezes and rain showers, most of civilians hang around the pools or in their homes with wide open windows. There’s been a burst of curiosity regarding a new shrine that is being built for the Kami of Sin, especially with exciting talk of an upcoming festival. Whether intended or not, this eager gossip has led to the ghost stories falling in popularity. And now, the Fallen Stars are here to put those nasty Rumors to rest once and for all.

This event is split into a few parts and forward dated for convenience. It will end right before the Watanagashi Festival.

The Windchimes Rumor

The main Rumor for this event is the Windchimes Rumor. Though the scam operation will be successful in restoring the Love Kami's faith and discouraging the sale of more windchimes, the lingering effects of the curse will remain.

On the night of June 17th, a sudden meteor shower will be announced over the news. Everyone in the city gathers outside that night for the chance to see shooting stars and the civilians encourage their Fallen Star neighbors to participate. It's a peaceful night and nothing will seem out of the ordinary.

On the morning of June 18th, this will prove to have been misleading. Characters whose names were written thoughtfully on windchimes will have vanished overnight. Their beds are empty and there is no sign of a struggle. A quick investigation will find that the windchime hung in their honor has turned pitch black and somehow negates light rather than reflecting it. It's quite plain to see that the windchimes are involved in the disappearances.

Fortunately, there will be methods to find the missing characters. But the missing aren't helpless either.

Missing characters will wake up in a strange facility, lightly bound and sore from travel. They will be able to band together and not only escape the facility, but finally investigate the group that is causing Rumors.

In other words, there will be two groups for the event. Group A with be focused on action and fighting, while Group B will be focused on investigating a clue gathering.

This part of the event will not immediately go live, giving players some time to plan which group they want to be in. If you want to be in Group B but did not have your characters' name hung up, there will still be ways to get in Group B!

Please understand that Group B is in a disadvantageous position power-wise.

The event is split into pieces so that I (the mod) can keep the timeline in order.

【JUNE 18TH - GROUP A】 Shrine of Love Meeting

Meeting at the Shrine of Love

It's easy to establish that the windchimes are the cause of the disappearances. Now the question is "What do we do?"

After the general reactions cause some commotion, the Kami of Love hurries into the garden to find out what is going on. After some consideration, she orders all of the Fallen Stars to collect the afflicted charms and meet her in the inner courtyard. She puts some specific stress of "being responsible for the charms you made," and then hurries inside to wait for arrivals.

The inner courtyard, for those who have not been yet, is a giant balcony made of pinkish wood. It overlooks the entire city below it and you can even see the lower levels through gaps. Water runs over the edge of the city limits like a giant waterfall and the horizon is nothing but multi-coloured trees for as far as the eye can see. It's completely private.

Shrine attendants hurriedly arrange tables and chairs for Fallen Stars to sit at. Plates of breakfast food and offerings of drinks are also being supplied in large quantities. A meeting is about to begin, but you'd all better eat a meal! Or Mama Kami is going to be very cross with you.

[Satou looks less energetic than usual. She looks drained, but the embers of rage seep through her expression. Once it seems that people have taken their seats, Satou lifts and examines one of the charms that were gathered. The name on the tag is "TAU."]

How many of you hung these up?

[She doesn't mean to sound angry. In fact, hearing her own irritated voice reminds her to cool her tone. She sighs, then continues.]

Raise your hands. We can use these to find them.

...I did one, to test what it truly did. I know I should have known better.

I see... Do you have it on you? Is that person still here?

[Elliot's sitting and looking very much like a scolded child if you can ignore the stunned horror in his eyes. He doesn't flinch when Satou sounds angry. She should be angry. He was an idiot, and there were plenty of people here who shared his stupidity, but he can't blame them. He blames himself. Leo is missing and the longer he sits still, the more restless he becomes, tapping his foot or fingers, but he's oddly quiet and cooperative. Slowly, he raises his hand.]

... I see.

[She's not surprised. Satou will take some blame in Elliot's case, since she did tease him about his crush. Who she assumes has gone missing, if his current state is anything to go off of.

There's a strong attempt not to sound upset when she leans forward and holds out her hand.]

Did you grab the charm?

I didn't put anyone's name up after learning that it wasn't a proper tradition of the shrine. I tried to tell as many people as I could not to, but...

[Satou attempts a smile, but it's difficult.]

I appreciate the effort, Hanyuu-san. But... it'll be okay. If 'they' want to see my power so badly, then we'll bring it right to them.

[Vanitas holds up a blackened charm, his expression trained to appear neutral. Noe's name shines on the tag. He will not explain how that happened.]

I have one of the charms for tracking.

[And you're very lucky that he's even here. Vanitas knows that he can't very well leave until Satou gets whatever tracking magic working. There's no point in going solo just yet.

He sighs, reluctant to ask a question:] Do we have any leads on how they were taken?

Magic shit. It's always like that.

[Usually, Oz would be the most relaxed. And he is. In theory. Outwardly, unless one knows him he might seem rather casual and as if they were having a party just because, for fun. As they gather and eat and plan together. He only lightly nibbles, not really touching the food much, maybe occasionally sipping at a drink as he sits.]

Wherever they are....assuming they are all together it must be somewhere decently sized. There's quite a few missing. I'm newer so I don't know this place as well as some others, but. I want to help.

[Help Elliot find Leo. He can't just ignore that his friend is missing.]

That's true. I wonder if any of the spirits would have noticed a suspicious new building going up? Or if we can get a list of large, abandoned locations that might have been taken over..?

It might not be so simple. But. It's worth a try? Checking if we can?

[Oz may not have been scared with being stuck in the Abyss but. That doesn't mean that Leo and the rest aren't. Aren't terrified and confused right now. Suddenly ending up somewhere else, kidnapped. He isn't sure if there might be a note or anything but. The sooner they get to action on this, the better. He is sure on that much at least.]

[After establishing that the Kami of Love has a way to track their captured friends, Atsushi raises his hand to speak.]

I think we need to start talking about who's coming along to pick them up and what to expect. The last time that we dealt with a Rumor, we had to fight a strange creature made out of some sort of black slime. It was very difficult to destroy-- In fact, none of us could hurt it until the Kami arrived. So please be careful if you see it!

[Atsushi looks around uncertainly for approval, but the person he's looking for isn't there.]

I'm Fauna. I'm a fighter, and I'm strong. I can't heal, but I can defend others if I have to... but I'm best on attack. I won't lose in a fight.

I'm looking for Tau.

My name is Furude Hanyuu-- just refer to me as Hanyuu. For those who have not met me, I am a kami as well, although to a lesser degree compared to Satou.

I can fight with a weapon, as that is what I am most familiar with, but I also have defensive capabilities, as I can create barriers. Um... my powers are strengthened through people's belief in me, as well as the wishes of others connected to me, so um... wishing to save those close to you might help me help them.

Um, also... I don't know if everyone's tried taking all the darkened charms to see who is missing yet, so we can have a list of those who were taken so that we are aware of everyone that is gone.

I think if we are going to split up into groups, we have at least groups of three or more.

I've got some healing ability and I'm a good melee to mid range fighter! I use a lot of magic but I'm capable without it too.

I'm not looking for anyone in particular, though a friend of mine mentioned someone named Inaba, so I'll probably help him with her if I'm not required elsewhere!

I... Don't yet have specific peole I am looking for, thankfully most of those I've had good rapport with so far are on this side of the equation. But I know I want to save people, and stop this.
