【WINDCHIMES EVENT】
damn windchimes
The Bonds That Tie Us
It’s the later end of June now and the summer heat is getting pretty stupid. Though Wind and Water spirits still bring cool breezes and rain showers, most of civilians hang around the pools or in their homes with wide open windows. There’s been a burst of curiosity regarding a new shrine that is being built for the Kami of Sin, especially with exciting talk of an upcoming festival. Whether intended or not, this eager gossip has led to the ghost stories falling in popularity. And now, the Fallen Stars are here to put those nasty Rumors to rest once and for all.
This event is split into a few parts and forward dated for convenience. It will end right before the Watanagashi Festival.
The Windchimes Rumor
The main Rumor for this event is the Windchimes Rumor. Though the scam operation will be successful in restoring the Love Kami's faith and discouraging the sale of more windchimes, the lingering effects of the curse will remain.
On the night of June 17th, a sudden meteor shower will be announced over the news. Everyone in the city gathers outside that night for the chance to see shooting stars and the civilians encourage their Fallen Star neighbors to participate. It's a peaceful night and nothing will seem out of the ordinary.
On the morning of June 18th, this will prove to have been misleading. Characters whose names were written thoughtfully on windchimes will have vanished overnight. Their beds are empty and there is no sign of a struggle. A quick investigation will find that the windchime hung in their honor has turned pitch black and somehow negates light rather than reflecting it. It's quite plain to see that the windchimes are involved in the disappearances.
Fortunately, there will be methods to find the missing characters. But the missing aren't helpless either.
Missing characters will wake up in a strange facility, lightly bound and sore from travel. They will be able to band together and not only escape the facility, but finally investigate the group that is causing Rumors.
In other words, there will be two groups for the event. Group A with be focused on action and fighting, while Group B will be focused on investigating a clue gathering.
This part of the event will not immediately go live, giving players some time to plan which group they want to be in. If you want to be in Group B but did not have your characters' name hung up, there will still be ways to get in Group B!

[She's not surprised. Satou will take some blame in Elliot's case, since she did tease him about his crush. Who she assumes has gone missing, if his current state is anything to go off of.
There's a strong attempt not to sound upset when she leans forward and holds out her hand.]
Did you grab the charm?
no subject
Do you need it?
no subject
[She stands up so that her tiny self can reach across the table and gently touch the charm. Seeming satisfied, she pulls back and stands properly.]
I don't think I got around to teasing you about this, but one of my powers is to make visible the ties between peoples' hearts. And your charm is for Leo, right? [There's no teasing in her tone this time.] We can use that to locate him.
no subject
...That sounds like it would have been a nightmare to deal with. But now he's officially with Leo, and it didn't take long for Elliot to screw it up, and Elliot doesn't care about any of that. He just wants Leo to be safe. Despite the pink dusting his cheeks, his voice is steady. This isn't the time to for self-pity, after all.]
Yes it is. [He looks down at the charm and curls his fingers around it protectively. If this is his tie to Leo, he'll need to make sure nothing happens to it.] Do you think they missing Fallen Stars are scattered in different places?
no subject
[It sucks to be so honest, especially when she recognizes that Elliot is a hurting child.]
But you’re the only link that we have right now. We’ll have to hope they were dumb enough to put everyone together.
Can we use you both for now?
no subject
[He recognizes he's not the only one who's hurting. Maybe it doesn't mean much, but he's serious. He won't stop at Leo...he's certain Leo won't let him.]
Do you have any idea who could have orchestrated this?
[He nods.] Use me as much as you need.
no subject
But if it is, then so be it. We'll trap them back.
I'll use your charm to connect you to Leo-kun. And I'll show you how to use the magic that they're trying to steal from me in order to punish them. If they want my power so badly, then you can bring it right to the front door for them. Fair?
no subject
As long as you trust me with it, I accept. [He already fucked up with the charms, so he would understand if Satou didn't want him doing certain tasks.] Either way, I'm going to kill them.
[He means that sincerely.]
no subject
[satou, no. don't say that to the 16 year old.
But she's no less angry.
Satou's eyes flash red and she snaps her finger, creating a red string between Elliot and supposedly leading to Leo. The name on Elliot's charm also begins to glow red due to the Love Kami's angry magic.]
That should do it. Keep the charm on you, or that string will go away.
Do you have a spirit contract yet, Elliot-kun?
no subject
[Elliot looks down at the charm and tries to touch the string. His expression is pensive but when he looks at Satou his eyes are filled with determination and anger.]
Not yet. But I’m going to. I’ll do whatever I need to find Leo!
no subject
Satou notes his expression. As much as she appreciates the power that she can take from Elliot's love, it isn't something that she wants. He's still so young. He shouldn't be going through this to begin with.]
Give the spirit that charm and have it take my magic. It'll be temporary, but it'll be stronger.
-- But don't make a hasty decision. Whether you form a contract or not, you will rescue him. I guarantee it.
no subject
Will the spirit be alright if I do that? Or would a contract be better?
[The idea of doing a contract terrifies him. But he's become accustomed to the shy and kind spirit, and if it's his own choice then he can handle it.]
no subject
[Satou is 100% guessing that Elliot befriended the spirit from the elevator. But they did seem to leave an impression on each other. Hearing Elliot's concern for the spirit in this situation does make Satou's heart ache with concern.]
You're doing enough already. I'll turn your love into magic using that charm, so whatever you choose... You'll both be okay.
no subject
Does it need a charm? Or, does it need to be love? Would other kinds of 'ties' work?
no subject
Is there someone you think you have ties with that went missing, Fauna-chan?
no subject
[Fauna pulls out her changer, and holds it forward- It projects a small, holographic radar screen, pinging out around, as Fauna shows it to Satou.]
Will this help? My Changer can detect faith and wishes, too.
no subject
[She has a hunch that Fauna wants to protect more people than just Tau.]
Faith and wishes, huh... You might be able to use that to find her.
no subject
Faith has been... pretty useless since I got here, since faith is this whole place, but maybe...
[She's thinking. Thinking carefully.]
... I may not be able to pick Tau's out, but...
What if you used that power on all of us? If the kidnapped people are all together, then we can just look for clusters of strings all going in the same direction.
no subject
[Satou sounds hesitant. This isn't the place to admit that the charms have been draining her power. They'll all believe it and then she'll get even weaker...]
no subject
She doesn't know why, but there's a reason for Satou to not want to do it. Abort that plan.]
Or we can just use my changer. Follow the wishes.
no subject
[The more she thinks about it, the less likely it is that 'faith' will help either. It's not like Tau has a lot of that in herself, so she isn't going to manifest very much power either.
Her gaze drifts to the unclaimed charms.]
