【WINDCHIMES EVENT】

The Bonds That Tie Us
It’s the later end of June now and the summer heat is getting pretty stupid. Though Wind and Water spirits still bring cool breezes and rain showers, most of civilians hang around the pools or in their homes with wide open windows. There’s been a burst of curiosity regarding a new shrine that is being built for the Kami of Sin, especially with exciting talk of an upcoming festival. Whether intended or not, this eager gossip has led to the ghost stories falling in popularity. And now, the Fallen Stars are here to put those nasty Rumors to rest once and for all.
This event is split into a few parts and forward dated for convenience. It will end right before the Watanagashi Festival.
The Windchimes Rumor
The main Rumor for this event is the Windchimes Rumor. Though the scam operation will be successful in restoring the Love Kami's faith and discouraging the sale of more windchimes, the lingering effects of the curse will remain.
On the night of June 17th, a sudden meteor shower will be announced over the news. Everyone in the city gathers outside that night for the chance to see shooting stars and the civilians encourage their Fallen Star neighbors to participate. It's a peaceful night and nothing will seem out of the ordinary.
On the morning of June 18th, this will prove to have been misleading. Characters whose names were written thoughtfully on windchimes will have vanished overnight. Their beds are empty and there is no sign of a struggle. A quick investigation will find that the windchime hung in their honor has turned pitch black and somehow negates light rather than reflecting it. It's quite plain to see that the windchimes are involved in the disappearances.
Fortunately, there will be methods to find the missing characters. But the missing aren't helpless either.
Missing characters will wake up in a strange facility, lightly bound and sore from travel. They will be able to band together and not only escape the facility, but finally investigate the group that is causing Rumors.
In other words, there will be two groups for the event. Group A with be focused on action and fighting, while Group B will be focused on investigating a clue gathering.
This part of the event will not immediately go live, giving players some time to plan which group they want to be in. If you want to be in Group B but did not have your characters' name hung up, there will still be ways to get in Group B!

'He' doesn't know that he is being destroyed by Rashomon. As lovingly as ever, the illusion keeps speaking:]
Do you not... love me... enough to stay?
[The illusion is split in half by Rashomon's shadowy jaws. As the lower half of the body falls, both pieces break apart into glowing orbs. But Mu recollections the broken emotion and tries to reform the illusion. This time, he's missing pieces like a broken puzzle and has a more concerning appearance.
Mu continues to use Yuuto as her mouthpiece. She doesn't pretend to be someone else this time and her own soft voice mixes with Yuuto's:]
Stay or I'll rip your real brother to shreds. I'll tear his heart to pieces and leave none of them for you to cry over.
Stay with me. Tau.

[Tau was trembling at the threat. She knew that any of the experiments here could cause some real damage, if not make good on their threats, even to her big brother. She was willing to trust these two almost strangers once with her and potentially her big brother's safety once. But between being reminded of what Terrel could and would be willing to do, and the direct threat to her brother by someone she knew could probably make good on it, she wasn't willing to try again.]
T-Tau...Tau will stay...Tau will stay...so please...do not...

You're not going to take her or harm her brother, I'll see to that. Now stop being a coward and show yourself.
[ The jaws snap at the copy a few more times now that Tau can't see it, hoping to reduce the amount that the copy could be rebuilt to a point that it wouldn't be worth doing anymore.
Tau's assertion was... well, he knew that she didn't trust them, but he was willing to fight both her and this new enemy at once if he had to. He wasn't leaving her here. ]

Coward? Mu considers this. Maybe she is. She doesn't want for her body to be damaged. So rather than come out of hiding on her own, Mu reaches out for a new layer of protection.
Her power begins to drain Akutagawa and Leo of their own love, leaving them to briefly feel very (extra) alone and empty. She collects enough to create some copies of their loved ones, then lets their love naturally refill the gaps that she had created.
The illusions are weak: Samples of what she can do, rather than being a finished product. As she comes out of hiding, Mu is counting on these smiling illusions to be her shields.]

But before that anger can lash out, Mu has stopped draining his love. Leo gasps, shocked by the sudden difference and pulling his emotions under a lid again... At least, until he sees that Mu has created an illusion of Elliot as her bodyguard.
And then he's seeing red again.]

[She started trying to wipe at her tears and stop crying, but she wouldn't move. She said she would stay after all. Not her fault the boys were in the perfect place to defend her from the stranger.]

Mocking him with affection they would never really show him.However from behind them one stood out, one none of the other three would recognize. A beautiful young woman with long black hair and grey eyes just like his own.

Naturally with his love numbed, the pain he felt in response to the crushing loneliness that resulted was amplified with nothing to soften it. His breathing hitched, his anger flared, and perhaps it looked as though he'd murder her on the spot with his affection for the people holding his temper back now gone. It didn't last for long enough for him to act on it, though even with the love returned his anger remained. ]

[ He stalked forward, malice clear in his tone ]

[Staring at the false Elliot makes Leo angry. Handsome features, charming smile, the calm confidence... That's not Elliot at all. Leo's beloved would be yelling at Mu and Tau right now. So if that girl is so determined to summon a copy of Elliot, then Leo will give her the full package.
He looks between both Mu and Tau, so they know that neither of them is being spared his anger anymore.]
"You know?" That's crap! Neither of you know! The word you're looking for is "You're scared," right? Because I KNOW that once I'VE decided to protect someone, it happens! AND I'M GOING TO BE RIGHT!
[Leo tries to soften the edges on his emotions for Tau, but it's very hard. Seeing Elliot like this is not good for him. There's a gap where Elliot's temper should be and Leo has enough anger of his own to fill it.]
Tau! It's fine to be scared. You've got every right! But don't confuse that with knowledge. If you want something, then don't bullshit about it. Grab it! And you want to get out, right? If hiding behind us isn't working, then stand BY US instead and let's make your wish a reality! Let's go home to our actual loved ones!

[Tau yelled back. Her eyes were no longer pupiless when she glared up at him, but instead more like little red and black targets. They were still teary though.]
We know because the things we fear have happened to our sisters. It is not some empty threat or speculation! If you have a better plan to survive then spill it! Because Tau-I cannot put my trust in two people I barely know over my own experiences! And blasting a hole in the ceiling did not help us leave. Yes, I want to leave, but if it means both my brother and I dying, then there is no point! I want to believe in you both, I do, but why should I if blind trust could wind up in dying? Especially when the trust that others have earned from me let me down today? [She's refering to her mom not Yuuto.]
Give me one good reason why I should trust you two over my own experiences. Do that and I will give my all to stand by you.

[ With one last, sad look to his sister's fake, tendrils shot down into the ground, then up, winding around the three fakes that he could attribute to himself. and then spikes shot out of the mass. ]

She stares blankly at the exchange between Leo and Tau. Why aren't they looking at her? Why does Leo seem mad at his loved one rather than tortured by them? This makes no sense--
And then Akutagawa destroys his three loved ones. Mu takes some hurried steps back as she tries to reform them. She calls upon the spare Yuuto from before as well, trying to scare Tau into submission. It's all she knows to do...
And she doesn't dare take 'Love' directly from Tau. Somehow that seems too much, even to Mu.]

He nods in approval to Akutagawa, but turns to Mu with fury:]
I'M NOT TALKING TO YOU RIGHT NOW! Sit down and take a number!
[Leo simmers his temper when turning back to Tau. He's glad that she's yelling back. It helps to negate some of his own anger to have someone throw it back at him. Listening to her helps him to further control himself and he gives a loud 'huff' to settle his emotions.]
I get it! I get it, okay? I'm useless! I have a Chain that can't save every world that I'm in, I have one arm, and my only weapon is a stupid office supply! Why the hell would anyone trust me? But I've had plenty of chances to save my own skin and I HAVEN'T! SO STOP ACTING LIKE IT'S EVER GOING TO BE AN OPTION!
Your brother is the same, right? Even if you go with them, he's going to crash through a window save you anyway, right?
It's time for YOU to save him some trouble and meet him halfway! [Leo reaches out to grab her arm. And he's not going to be as nice about it this time, sorry. If the alternative is her going with sad puppet girl, then Leo is going to be selfish about taking her.
He glares at Akutagawa.]

And you. If I wanted fakes of the people I cared about, I would make them myself. A fake Yuuto is worthless, I could make 10 fakes without breaking a sweat. And besides. I am best at a distance so what good are they to you either?
[She made the ground quicksand again, but her, Leo, and Akutagawa would have no trouble walking over it like it was a normal floor. She then snapped her fingers to have blue ribbons tie around both Mu and the fakes to make it harder for them to get out. Her dream would break up long before anyone would take damage from it, as she still didn't want to actually hurt anyone, even if she was mad. With that thought, she added big cute kitty buttons to the bows just to cheer herself up.]
Well? Let us go. I want to see my real big brother soon.

[ He proceeds to lead the group around the copies and Mu, though his murderous stare doesn't leave the girl until they're safely around. He's not risking tricks. ]

[Leo approves of Tau pulling back. It's a lot easier for everyone involved if she walks on her own. Having established that he's useless, Leo only follows behind with a rebellious step. He, too, glares at Mu as they pass.]
Get your act together by the time I get back here, or you're next. [this is a threat.
He adds in a snapping tone:] And you can keep that one. An Elliot who is that quiet isn't Elliot at all.

Mu is tied up? She's still trying to create illusions, but the effort gradually dies down. She's left stunned, watching as they leave her and their loved ones.
Far down the hall, she hears a voice. It's the same one that she tried to recreate, but there is more than one emotion in his call. There's love, worry, fear, and hope as he shouts:
"Oneechan! Don't listen to him! I'm not creepy at all!"

Still, he'd made a promise to protect Tau and he'd follow through with it regardless of what happened. He'd just need time to himself after this blew over to pick up the pieces.
He doesn't verbally respond, as she'd addressed Leo, not himself, but he does swiftly follow her, not unlike the guard dog he often likens himself to. ]

[Yuuto is hurt, stressed, and sad. He has a lot of despair weighing on him and guilt to match. But for Tau, he stores all of that away and smiles. She seemed to do the same when he was a child, so it's his turn to repay the favor.
He runs the rest of the way to her, though clumsily. Rather than follow the illusion's cue and kneel down to her level, Yuuto uses his power and strength to pick Tau up. She's still getting a hug as he tries to judge whether she'd like to stay carried or be immediately put down.]
We're together again! I'm sorry it took me so long!
[His pink-gold eyes flit gratefully to Akutagawa and Leo.] Oh! You found friends even here! Hello!

He doesn't like how Yuuto's looking at him. It's more friendly than he's used to seeing on Atsushi's face. The eyes are slightly a different color, which is perhaps the only major difference appearance wise between the two. It's not enough to offset the fact that it looks like Atsushi is the one smiling at him. He averts his eyes after a moment to keep himself from being needlessly violent. ]

[ Not the friendliest greeting, but it's better than ignoring him. Inaba provides a timely distraction and while he's staring at her like she has two heads, Tau goes on and says. That. ]
... I have never once been likened to a prince before in my life. I'm very certain Dazai would laugh at the notion.
[ And Atsushi, and likely the entire ADA. In fact the only one that he could see not laughing at that was Higuchi, who would likely agree for all the wrong reasons. ]
