A Twisted Rumor

It's the day after the Fallen Star Meeting regarding the recent rumor. As morning brightens the city's night, stories are making their way from the bottom level to the top.

"The cherry blossom tree isn't going to hurt us, is it? It looks so scary."

For those who have learned the truth about rumors, this may especially distressing to hear. There's no time to wait: If anything is going to be done to save the tree's spirit, it must be done now.

The current plan is to address the tree spirit's wish to be remembered and acknowledged by holding a picnic by the lonely cherry blossom tree. Fallen Stars hope to reenact the lively Reblooming parties that had been happening on the upper levels all month. This tree, though the origin of that tradition, exists at the bottom level of Starsand City: Where spirits and kami are still feared. The hope is that this party will soothe the raging spirit and bring it peace... and, ideally, bring back all of the people who have recently gone missing.

But the meeting also ended on a note of caution. If the spirit will not peacefully give up the missing people, then more drastic measures may need to be taken. And... Spoiler alert, but this log is titled tree FIGHT.

Timeline of Events

This log will operate a bit different from normal! It's also an experiment, so if it doesn't work then apologies in advanced! In order to maintain an easy-to-follow timeline of events, there will be a top-level for each stage of the encounter. As the encounter progresses, new top-levels will be added to reflect each stage of the Rumor.

Character top-levels are still welcome, but please try to use the top-levels for time sensitive threads. Threadjacking is welcomed & encouraged, though please be respectful of one another. And of course, make use of the feedback section!

Backtagging is also still welcome. Event stages will be staggered over the course of the next week & past threads still have time to make an impact. Please don't feel rushed!

[Tau has gathered up a large stack of posters, enough to make it hard to comfortably carry, but there's still pleanty more. She wasn't used to putting forth this much work. Omichron and Mikale owe her one when they get back. When she sees someone else entering the cafe, she speaks up.]

Excuse me...Would you be willing to help me up up posters?

Two:

[Tau is handing out left over posters to anyone braving the streets. It made her uncomfortable being out when everything was unnaturally still for her city, but she wasn't about to give up. Even when people pass her by, she just tries to chase them down.]

Excuse me. Sir, there is a party...Sir...Come to the-

[And he's gone. This was frustrating.]

He could've at least taken one...

[She shook her head, and glared around, to find her new target.]

Do you want me to force it into his hands?

[Dimitri offers some power abuse to baby sister only. He's been following her around for a while now and failed to give away any of his posters. Honestly, he's not tailing Tau because of the posters anyway:]

Have you slept yet, Tau?

[It would probably be counter productive for improving people's opinion on the sitution to magically force it into people's hands, but at this point, Tau doesn't care. She just wants to make progress.]

Yes please...If you do not mind...

[Tau nodded at the second question, then yawned.]

A little...I took a nap...above the cafe...two hours? Two hours.

[melancholie]

[At that, Dimitri's eyes flash and he looks to the escaping civilian. A couple dozen posters begin to fall from the sky and rain around this person, while Dimitri nonchalantly calls out;]

Taaake ooone!

[When they do, the rest of the posters reappear with Tau and Dimitri. The papers float in the air and organize themselves into a neat stack while Dimitri listens to Tau's answer.]

Two hours isn't long. Will you be okay if something happens down there? You've done plenty already, you know.

[Tau couldn't help but giggle a bit at her brother's antics.]

I am...used to functioning on...little to no sleep. It will be fine...probably...

[She realizes that that probably doesn't sound very reassuring.]

If I start struggling...I will fall back...[She yawns again.]I am better at mid-range fighting anyway...Besides...I am still hoping that this will all end...with the picnic...

Tau...

[He wants to say something to scold her. Should he offer to let her rest? Tell her to stay out of any battle entirely? But then, even if he did... It's not like he has the right to scold her. She's Yuuto's sister, not his. Whatever game they place right now is a warm charade. He doesn't want to be as comfortable caring about Tau as he is.

Dimitri sighs.]

If that's what you think is best. But don't get hurt. Satou-san will scold me if I stand by while you get hurt.

I have no intention of getting hurt. Do not worry.

[She's glad that Dimitri seems to be understanding of her want to help. She was a little worried that she would be sent back home.]

Besides...I doubt you will simply be standing if it comes down to a fight...You will be busy...

Ahaha. It's not about intention when it comes to getting hurt, but I'm glad you aren't going to be reckless.

[He wishes he had the authority to send her home, honestly... But he reasons that, if nothing else, Tau's presence will prevent Yuuto from being an absolute fool.

Dimitri reaches out to pat her head.]

Let's do a flawless job and be home before Satou-san realizes we've even left. [too late.]

I am never reckless.

[Is it a lie if she believes it? She smiles a little at the headpat.]

Yes. And bring Chronee and Mikale home with us.

[melancholie]

[He withdraws his hand slowly, almost reluctant to step back from being a big brother. But that isn't his role and he can't get too comfortable.]

Yes, let's do just that. Chron-san and Mikale-san are waiting for us.

I don't mind helping put up posters. It's the least help I can do, since there isn't much I can help with otherwise.

[ She isn't a fighter and she certainly isn't a cook. ]

[She's realized that having so many in her arms will make it hard to actually put them up, so she divides them in half, and hands one stack to her.]

Putting up posters is...important too...There is no point in having them...if no one can see them...

That's true. There's also a few other ways to distribute them that could grab a lot of attention than just simply throwing them up everywhere, too.

Well, if you go to the top of the highest building you can throw all the posters and surprise a bunch of people.

That could work...

[Tau could actually think of a few ways that that might not work, but she could do the same about hanging posters up as well, so she stays quiet about that.]

So we should...put posters up...and throw them off buildings...aaand...

and hand them to people, maybe? Is there anything else?

[ Inaba's done the whole 'throwing things from a tall building before to get attention' so she absolutely knows what she's doing. Although the conditions do have to be a certain way... ]

I mean, that's basically it. It's not like it's rocket science. I suppose the other way to get people to know would be through social media --

There is social media. I had forgotten about it.

[She does have accounts on social media platforms, but has been too timid to try and do anything on them, so they sit sad and empty.]
