【EVENT】 the forest of spirit rumors
Camping Trip Event!

For the past few weeks, Fallen Stars have been busily repairing a broken train on the lowest level of Starsand City. According to the little kami of the train, who calls herself "the Conductor," the fixed train will be able to leave the city's borders and traverse into the wilderness. With the help of the Kami of Curiosity, Shugo, the train will even be able to pass a barrier set up around the city. All that is left to do is to leave the city, arrive at The Forest of Spirits, and prevent a Rumor from forming there! Easy, right? Nothing has never gone wrong in Starsand City, after all!
This open mingle will cover both the Camping Group (Group A) and Stay-at-Home-Club (Group B.) You are more than welcome to make open posts to the community and link them here!

【BOTH GROUPS】 Boarding the Train
The boarding platform, which was decorated by Fallen Stars, is filled with excited spirits. They use their power to help load bags onto the train car before retreating to the many decorative features of the platform. While they're very eager to help the Fallen Stars board the train comfortably, the spirits seem reluctant to leave the city. Only spirits with contracts have enough confidence to leave the city limits.
At 8pm sharp, the Conductor finally has enough. Her voice rings out eagerly across the platform through what sounds like a megaphone: "ALL ABOOOARD! I'M LEAVING SO MOOOOVE OUTTA MY WAY!"

[It's debatable whether or not Satou is handling this well. Her power is what keeps the city standing, so the kami of love is strictly forbidden from leaving the city limits. She can, forever, leave her dignity at the door and be a crying mess at the platform.]

【GROUP A】 The Train Ride
The train itself resembles a modern sleeper train. It has a cars for relaxing, a shower car, dining car, and sleeper cars with private rooms. Fallen Stars have their needs miraculously met every time that they leave one car for another, allowing them to move quickly from one car to the next that they need.
When looking outside of the windows, characters will see a varied amount of scenery… but it’s all nature. There are tall mountains in the distance, fields of flowers, lakes, forests, and beaches, but no signs of civilization. The train powers through all of this, sometimes even going overtop lakes or under the water. It’s tracks never disturb nature: It will sooner defy gravity to climb a mountain than to create an unnatural tunnel.
Fallen Stars will spend Thursday night and all of Friday on the train. Early in the morning on Saturday, they will finally reach the Forest of Spirits and be able to disembark. Until then, be sure to get some rest and relaxation... You'll need it!

【GROUP B】 Peaceful Nights
In order to encourage unity, and help keep everyone together in the case of an emergency, the Shrine of Love is opened for Fallen Stars to spend the night. There are many open bedrooms in the large shrine for spending the night, a modest kitchen for cooking, and a handful of other luxuries to be enjoyed. A natural hot spring overlooks the city, for example, and there is a private tea garden tucked away from the public rose gardens. At night, it is possible to take futons out to the large balcony and fall asleep under the stars.
During the day, the city is peaceful. Nothing seems too out of the ordinary. But at night, if you pay close attention, the air is eerily still and quiet. Probably nothing to worry about, right?

【GROUP A】 Arriving at the Forest
After a 16 hour train ride, the train stops at a thick forest. The tree canopy covers the sky and the spirits are hesitant to approach. The Conductor warns everyone that she can’t go any further and that they’ll have to enter the Forest of Spirits by foot. Anything that the train generated (ex.: food, bedding, etc.) will vanish when it leaves the train. They’re on their own from here out.
The Forest itself is huge. The tree canopy at the edge of the forest is thick and creates an illusion of pitch darkness, but lightens up as characters brave the protective outer layer. It appears that there is a ring of trees around the forest perimeter, which guard the lighter interior. After an hour of darkness, Fallen Stars will find themselves in a clearing with a lake nearby.
Spirits here are far less friendly than the ones in the city. Most of them have the typical firefly appearance, but some take the glowing forms of wild animals. There is a lot of common Earth wildlife, such as squirrels, raccoons, deer, and bears; They aren’t aggressive and usually keep their distance.
But some animals seem to have formed spirit contracts, turning them into fantastical creature that vaguely resemble their original forms. There animals are more powerful and bold, and may try to chase Fallen Stars out of certain areas of the forest. They do not respond well to attempts to talk and can even talk back, usually with the same warning: You do not belong here. Leave now. Enough damage has been done by the ones in masks.
… That aside! The camping trip is relatively peaceful. It is possible to forage for food if you didn’t bring any and, though cautious, the spirits do pop in to interfere before anyone can get hurt. They guide people away from dangerous food and terrain alike. Fallen Stars may choose to camp at the clearing around the lake or go deeper into the forest. Switching locations every night is permitted. The camp pulls together to make curry at night and there are chances to go swimming, play games, and explore the area.
For the most part, the animals with spirit contracts ('sacred children') are not dangerous. They don't like to be approached and don't like for Fallen Stars to approach spirits, verbally communicating that "the ones in masks have done enough damage," but they won't attack anyone. They merely try to push them back with threats and aggressive, but empty, behavior. Their normal animal forms have slightly fantastical appearances, but they generally look like they live peaceful lives: They might have wings that shouldn't normally be there, but they don't have claws or anything dangerous.
However... Not all of the 'Sacred Children' are like this. Some of them have a dark aura and leave trails of sparkly black goo when they walk. Their spirit contracts give them long claws and teeth, large size, and glowing red eyes... and aggression. They charge not only at Fallen Stars, but fellow spirits and 'Sacred Children.' They cannot be verbally reasoned with either and seem set on destroying anything and everything in their path. The spirits around them express alarm, because this has never happened before. They blame "the ones in masks," but seem powerless to stop them.
In order to stop these Rumor afflicted 'Sacred Children,' Fallen Stars will have to target the shrine. Usually this is a little trinket attached to the animal, which the spirit has bonded to when forming their contract. It might be a stone necklace, a flower, or similar decorative item. When it is broken, the spirit contract also breaks. The animal returns to normal and the spirit disappears.
Fallen Stars who defeat these Rumors will earn some favor from the unaffected Sacred Children. These kami-like animals will be able to explain that the disappearing spirit is not dead, but goes back to the spirit realm. They'll also explain that they know 'the ones in masks' are somehow related, but they do not know what a Rumor is nor where those people are anymore.

【GROUP A】 Rumor Event
For the past day, the forest has had a problem with Rumors overtaking contracted spirit and animal pairs. The Rumor seeps from the spirit to the animal and turns them into a vicious monster, which the Fallen Stars have been doing their part to fight. By destroying the 'shrine' that makes the contract, Fallen Stars can separate the spirit and animal. The Rumor then seems to disappear, for reasons not yet understood.
But late night Sunday, everything escalates...
At first, the forest goes eerily still. Then spirits rush to the camp in a panic. They struggle to communicate that something has gone horribly wrong. Deeper in the forest, there is someone making Rumors and scaring all of the spirits. The spirits have seen that the Fallen Stars can dispatch Rumors and plead with them to go investigate.
Then a storm rolls in, seemingly at random, and causes the trees to sway violently and buckets of rain to pour down through the tree canopy. Winds howl and the forest sounds like it is crying in pain. Spirits around the camp manage to explain that the forest is crying and that the Forest Kami is being hurt. The winds will guide willing Fallen Stars towards the Kami, so that they can help... Or at least. They would, if not for the disorientating darkness and the various foes who get in the way.

In the hours before things escalated, Mu was working on said experiment. Her purpose was simple on paper: To see if her powers could steal and copy curse-filled emotions such as anger, faith, and hatred. Then direct that emotion to a Rumor of her choosing. In theory, she could use this ability to become a one-girl Rumor creating factory. She had been doing just that, having sample emotions from the city and then replicated them in the forest. And, just as expected, she managed to curse some of the forest's Sacred Children into becoming minor Rumors...
But she wasn't done yet. As the last part of her experiment, Mu was to try replicating herself. And this, unfortunately, was a lot more trouble.]

【GROUP B】 Rumor Event
For the past few days, it has been apparent that some of the civilians are a bit... 'off.' Like have extreme emotions, usually angry or scared, and vanish like apparitions if confronted. Now they finally reveal themselves as not civilians, but copies of their emotions controlled by Mu: They melt into puddles of black Rumor goo and sink into the soil, infecting the plantlife and creating monstrous flowers. Fortunately the Rumors are all relatively weak; Trees are unaffected and the flowers can be defeated in a simple fight. But no matter how many are defeated, they keep reappearing.
And with each defeat and reappearance, the goo and Rumors begin climbing up the hill and towards the Shrine of Love.
Due to this portion of the event being linked with the Group A portion, please keep an eye on the first reply (group updates) to know when things calm down. Mods will not play the Rumors, but there are NPC prompts!
