Summer Rain
The city of Starsand is once again at peace. The civilians who went missing in May have reappeared, waking up as if from a long nap. Fallen Stars are once again greeted with empathy and care, some even receiving apologies from the civilians who previously mistrusted them. And on the heels of the reblooming incident on the first level, the cool spring has melted into a vivid summer season. The weather is much hotter than before, but there is plenty happening to distract people from the miserable heat.
For starters, June is dedicated to the Kami of Love and her legacy. Specifically, it's a time to celebrate and strength the bonds between hearts. Whether it's friendship, romantic, or even the bonds between humans and spirits. Yes, this season is also a prime time for forming spirit contracts. And like May's maid activities, June comes with an extra way to make Starling: Strengthening your bonds will result in Starling appearing under your pillow the following morning. Starling amounts reflect the amount of bonding, so go crazy and appreciate your loved ones! Or... Make some new friends! hint hint. nudge nudge!
Of course, bonding doesn't change the fact that the weather is shit. The people of Starsand opt not to use air conditioning either, except in certain situations. Wind spirits keep a cooling breeze passing through the city and rain spirits can be summoned for cold rain showers. There are also pools to cool off in, and yes the swimsuits are free. Everyone seems to be in good spirits as they beat the summer heat with their loved ones.
Except... Maybe not the Fallen Stars. After the incident last month, they do have one concern that lingers. Someone is trying to target them. The tree spirit was indeed used to target Fallen Stars, but for what purpose? Who is this mysterious force and are they malicious? And will they strike again with a new Rumor? Listen to the whispers on that breeze, because unfortunately all signs point to "yes." A new Rumor is already festering. But why?

(A) Fallen Star Arrival & Spacetime Shrine Update
Arrival mechanics are mostly back to normal. You blink and suddenly you're here, in a pastel pink city powered by love and faith. The locals are very kind and calm as the acknowledge of the arrival of those they call "Fallen Stars." They will gladly supply free housing, offer food and clothing, and generally help Fallen Stars to settle in. Apparently this has been happening for a long time now and, though no one understands why, the entire city has banded together to help the poor Fallen Stars adjust to their isekai adventure.
Press a bit more and you might learn that there is a kami who supposedly rules Spacetime. They should be the one whose power returns other worlders home. Unfortunately, they have not ever been seen. Their shrine is empty and had been damaged last month.
That shrine is on the upper level and appears to be a door that stands in the middle of a clearing. The goo that bled from its frame last month is gone and the door is once again wide open, leading to a glass staircase in another dimension. Closed windows hang in empty space as you climb the stairs. At the very top of the staircase is another door, which cannot be opened. But other than being quite pretty, the shrine does nothing.

(B) Spirit Contracts
The month's focus on relationships doesn't end with human bonds! With the Kami of Love's magic thick in the air, now is the perfect time to form contracts with spirits as well. Supposedly the process is much easier when there is so much magic available. The Shrine of Curiosity is hosting special seminars on how spirit contracts work. Characters will be able to freely gain this information by attending a lecture.
Contracts can be formed at any shrine during the month. But contracts this month will require two people: One person who is forming the contract and one who can be a witness. You might find yourself stopped on the street numerous times and asked to witness a contract.

(C) The Shrine of Love's Protection (Rumor)
If you visit the Shrine of Love to pay your respects this month, you will find that the grounds are bustling with activity. There is a humble stall at the base of the long hill winding up to the shrine. And it has a huge line. There is no one working at this stall, but on display are hundreds of wind chimes. Anyone is welcome to take some and they restock daily. With them, there is a budding Rumor: "If you write someone's name on the charm's paper tail while thinking of them, then the kami of love's power will protect them all month long!"
The chimes have long paper tails attached to a small heart-shaped bead and can be hung on the trees around the grounds. A pen is available for writing names and there are plenty of charms to go around. Strangely, those who work at the shrine itself have never heard of this tradition. They allow the wind chimes to be hung as tributes to the kami, but they seem confused.
Of course, there are some greedy people who just want blessings. It has become a common practice for strangers to ask each other to hang the charms with each other's names on them. There is even an unofficial competition among the youth to have your name hung up as many times as possible. By the end of the first week of June, the Shrine of Love is noisy with wind chimes.

(D) Poolside
The easiest way to cool down in summer is to relax by a pool. There are many free pools that people can visit, but the most popular one is in the city center. It's kind of obnoxiously luxurious, with rock formations and plants placed to make it feel more natural. But most stunning of all is the cascading edge, which overlooks the edge of the layered city. It makes it apparent just how high up this city actually goes. The view is unobstructed, with vivid forests of rainbow shades stretching as far as the eye can see... Of course, the usual fall protection is in place and it's impossible to actually go over the edge.
A nearby building has changing rooms and exchanges Starling for swimsuits, as well as offering a variety of refreshments. Spirits take the form of glowing fish as they swim through the waters, lighting it up until 11pm at night. As midnight grows closer, the pool is shut down until 6am the next morning. Some people say that the pool is haunted after hours... No way, right?

(E) 100 Ghost Stories (rumor)
What better way to defeat the summer heat than with a chilling ghost story? Telling spooky stories is apparently a normal summer activity here in Starsand City, but this year it is going into overdrive. Stores are selling a collection of spooky stories called "The 100 Starry Mysteries," and the book is selling like hotcakes. Civilians repeat the stories to one another in hushed whispers. Some courageous teenagers have been reenacting the rituals from the book for fun. And amidst all of it, a Rumor has been born.
Through the first weeks of June, Fallen Stars will hear one rumor rise above the rest: "The Fallen Stars could/could never defeat a ghost!" It's hard to get a gauge yet on whether or not more people believe in they could win compared to those who think the Fallen Stars are too weak. But the younger civilians are eager to share the locations of certain ghosts with the Fallen Stars, and just as eager to say if they think the Fallen Stars are stronger or not.
At this point, there are three (3) key ghost locations:

But the younger civilians are eager to share the locations of certain ghosts with the Fallen Stars, and just as eager to say if they think the Fallen Stars are stronger or not.
At this point, there are three (3) key ghost locations:
- Bloody Mary of the Girl's Bathroom: There's an academy on the top level called Saint's Crossing Academy, where the students are currently on summer vacation. Apparently, a girl named Mary is cursed to haunt the mirrors of the Academy's bathroom. But lately, 'Mary' has been seen looking out from any mirror in the city. She appears to kids who summon her and leaves them unconscious and bleeding. In order to put her to rest, someone will have to summon 'Mary' with a very specific ritual and beat her in a fight. Students have been making bets as to which Fallen Star could win.
- The Footsteps Behind You: They say that if you tell lies to your loved ones in June, you'll be haunted by Them. This ghost is like a shadow and grows larger in relation to the lies that you tell. If your lie hurts someone, then the ghost will stalk you through the city until you apologize. And if you don't tell the truth fast enough, it will kill you and write the truth in your blood! Spooky. No one's died yet, but there have been a few suspicious attacks lately. People are winding up unconscious on the street, with their blood used to write nonsensical messages. Could this be the Footsteps Ghost? Or a coincidence?
- The Girl In The Reflection: Some Fallen Stars may find this story more curious than the others. It's a story that is less frightening and more strange. The story goes that there is a girl trapped in the reflections of the newly opened swimming pools. If you visit the pool after hours and turn off all of the lights, plunging yourself into complete darkness, you will see the glowing form of a girl where your reflection should be. If you make eye contact with her, she'll reach through the water and pull you into another dimension. Sounds super made-up, right? But a few kids claim that they saw her and that's why they were swimming in the pool after hours! It's not like they were breaking rules on purpose!
