Wishful Dreaming Event

On the Eve of the New Year, the city of Starsand is surprisingly quiet. For a place so eager to throw parties, you might think that the streets would be full of life. But instead, Starsand’s streets are quiet and it’s citizens shutting down shops early. In this city, the last night of the year is contemplative and quiet. Citizens might make their last shrine visits, but it’s uncommon to see them out past 11.

They say that it’s important to fall asleep before the New Year, because you want to treasure your first dream of the New Year. Supposedly it’s lucky and prophetic. If you write it down and remember it, that dream can even guide you to your greatest desire. And rumors are always good ideas in Starsand.

Sleep comes easy on this night. Characters will find themselves getting drowsy by 4am at the latest. When they do fall asleep, they fall into a deep and elaborate dream.

OOC NOTES

The first dream of the New Year will show characters their wishes come true. They will get to enjoy the life they long for. But strangely, they may find other Fallen Stars wandering into their dreams. These encounters may shake them out of their dreamlike state and make them aware that the dream is just that: A dream. If the dreamer denies their dream or has doubts, then the dreamscape will fall apart into a nightmare before both dreamer and visitor wake up.

It is possible to have multiple dreams: Characters must wake between dreams, even if just briefly, then fall back asleep in order to change their dream. There can be multiple visitors before the dream ends for good.

On the morning of January 1st, all characters who had a dream will find a prismatic crystal clenched in the palm of their hands. The crystal will reflect the contents of their dream, so long as they hold the same wish. If they change wishes or lose faith, then the crystal will turn black and melt into Rumor goo.

NPC characters may reply to dreams with clues. Please indicate which characters you want to receive clues by putting a “*” in their toplevel title. You may request clues for up to 3 characters. Thank you for your help!

Most likely, yes.

Perhaps we got off on the wrong foot… and in some ways, maybe we will never agree and get along. But I do wonder if we would both find it amusing if their attempt to use me to further their plans backfired a bit.

You are correct in all those assumptions.

The Facility created the power that could draw Fallen Stars into this world, but they had to borrow the power to trap them here. Realizing that they could not borrow that power forever, they have made a replacement.

I don’t know if that bodes well for your lot.

Doesn't sound like it. So what, their plan's to swap out the old power for the new one?

Just means they might be able t'pull in more Fallen Stars t'waste away here. Get the feelin' they wouldn't swap us out either.

Correct. Their new machine is well underway. I even saw it dreaming. Once they have completed the swap, I imagine it will be that much harder to stop them from achieving their ultimate goal.

Anyway. Take it the best way to stick it to 'em and get is back home's to bust up that machine?

I wouldn’t know.

They’ll first eliminate the source of their borrowed power, but… Hm. I promised not to say more about that. To a Fallen Star, mind you. I don’t care for promises with the Facility.

But he’s, I understand their machine to have attracted many spirits. Now it dreams.

As for my credibility, well… I am bitter at my core. Hated for that world is my driving force. I don’t mind giving away facts that lead to its ruin.

This place's all I got left. I guess I'm still kinda nostalgic for it, but... this made for a real good home. We had t'fight monsters, but Onee-san never got mad, even when I went too far.

Even had a smile on her face when she said goodbye. Right to the face of the rotten girl who killed her in the first place.

They intend to target the shrines of the powerful kami within two weeks’ time. They fear the unity of the Fallen Stars and intend to split them up.

If there were to be a slip-up when switching power sources… They fear that you would all be returned home in an instant.

[ For the sake of her town, she left it to Karin. If Karin's here... she'll never be able to protect that town. She's just wasting her time.
