Wishful Dreaming Event

On the Eve of the New Year, the city of Starsand is surprisingly quiet. For a place so eager to throw parties, you might think that the streets would be full of life. But instead, Starsand’s streets are quiet and it’s citizens shutting down shops early. In this city, the last night of the year is contemplative and quiet. Citizens might make their last shrine visits, but it’s uncommon to see them out past 11.

They say that it’s important to fall asleep before the New Year, because you want to treasure your first dream of the New Year. Supposedly it’s lucky and prophetic. If you write it down and remember it, that dream can even guide you to your greatest desire. And rumors are always good ideas in Starsand.

Sleep comes easy on this night. Characters will find themselves getting drowsy by 4am at the latest. When they do fall asleep, they fall into a deep and elaborate dream.

OOC NOTES

The first dream of the New Year will show characters their wishes come true. They will get to enjoy the life they long for. But strangely, they may find other Fallen Stars wandering into their dreams. These encounters may shake them out of their dreamlike state and make them aware that the dream is just that: A dream. If the dreamer denies their dream or has doubts, then the dreamscape will fall apart into a nightmare before both dreamer and visitor wake up.

It is possible to have multiple dreams: Characters must wake between dreams, even if just briefly, then fall back asleep in order to change their dream. There can be multiple visitors before the dream ends for good.

On the morning of January 1st, all characters who had a dream will find a prismatic crystal clenched in the palm of their hands. The crystal will reflect the contents of their dream, so long as they hold the same wish. If they change wishes or lose faith, then the crystal will turn black and melt into Rumor goo.

NPC characters may reply to dreams with clues. Please indicate which characters you want to receive clues by putting a “*” in their toplevel title. You may request clues for up to 3 characters. Thank you for your help!

She'd been invited to a fancy party before, which usually ended up with something exploding or something like that. She had a lot of questions about the painting, and many about the eggplant girl, but that seems like too much of a pain to get into right now.

When Ryuu's addressed, she tenses up. ]

Uh, oh! Uh, not a problem. [ Rented out the area, so this might be... ] Happy birthday?

I think so? I don't really know anyone here, but nobody's causin' any trouble. 'Least I think they're not.

[ STARES AT. THE EGGPLANT? ]

If they do wind up causing trouble, I'll handle it.

[sarashi]

[ ...Alright. She has to. ]

Who are you?

Shinomiya Kaguya. I'm just a simple photographer.

[ She just wants to be normal for now, so she leaves out her whole rich status for the time being. ]

Oh! Guess that explains what's goin' on here.

Don't really get if comin' to Mt. Fuji for a birthday party's popular, but if you're tryin' to take pictures, then it makes for somethin' pretty to look at.

Oh, we aren't in Mt. Fuji. Someone just decided to draw that image of it for good luck since we're outside of Japan.

[sarashi]

Wha-- jeez, coulda fooled me. Uh, guess it did.

[ Oh well?? ]

Uhh, anyway, sorry that I didn't get ya a present, I guess? I didn't know I'd be goin' to a party.

That's fine--ah, instead... do you might if I took a photo?

Oh-- uh, I mean... I'm not against it. Do I have to pose or anythin?

Just do what you feel comes naturally. You might come off too stiff if you overthink about a pose.

[ Ryuu ponders on it... hm. Natural, natural...

So, she backs off and makes a pose like throwing a punch! Tada! ]

[ There's a lot of questions to ask here! Why a punch? But well, she supposes it could be worse so she does snap the photo.

Well, I don't have prints if that's what you want, but you can at least preview what it looks like on the camera I have.

[ Whaaaat the heck is she talking about?

Regardless, Ryuu heads right over to check out the camera. Jeez, this place really does have a bunch of fancy stuff, huh? ]

Yes--there's a small screen on the back side of the camera that allows you to see the image; it helps in case there were any mistakes taken.

[sarashi]

Man, technology's amazin'...

[ Didn't you just say that, Ryuu-chan? Whatever! She's going to head over and get a glimpse at the back of the camera then... ]

It sure is, isn't it?
