Wishful Dreaming Event

On the Eve of the New Year, the city of Starsand is surprisingly quiet. For a place so eager to throw parties, you might think that the streets would be full of life. But instead, Starsand’s streets are quiet and it’s citizens shutting down shops early. In this city, the last night of the year is contemplative and quiet. Citizens might make their last shrine visits, but it’s uncommon to see them out past 11.

They say that it’s important to fall asleep before the New Year, because you want to treasure your first dream of the New Year. Supposedly it’s lucky and prophetic. If you write it down and remember it, that dream can even guide you to your greatest desire. And rumors are always good ideas in Starsand.

Sleep comes easy on this night. Characters will find themselves getting drowsy by 4am at the latest. When they do fall asleep, they fall into a deep and elaborate dream.

OOC NOTES

The first dream of the New Year will show characters their wishes come true. They will get to enjoy the life they long for. But strangely, they may find other Fallen Stars wandering into their dreams. These encounters may shake them out of their dreamlike state and make them aware that the dream is just that: A dream. If the dreamer denies their dream or has doubts, then the dreamscape will fall apart into a nightmare before both dreamer and visitor wake up.

It is possible to have multiple dreams: Characters must wake between dreams, even if just briefly, then fall back asleep in order to change their dream. There can be multiple visitors before the dream ends for good.

On the morning of January 1st, all characters who had a dream will find a prismatic crystal clenched in the palm of their hands. The crystal will reflect the contents of their dream, so long as they hold the same wish. If they change wishes or lose faith, then the crystal will turn black and melt into Rumor goo.

NPC characters may reply to dreams with clues. Please indicate which characters you want to receive clues by putting a “*” in their toplevel title. You may request clues for up to 3 characters. Thank you for your help!

[ If Zoe looked very carefully, she'd be able to see the point sailing clear over Ryuunosuke's head. Enough for two, huh. Zoe probably just has a sweet tooth or something. ]

Comin' up. Don't worry, you won't have t'wait too long for it.

[ With a grin and a wink, Ryuu heads back to her kitchen, and there's the sound of something striking a block of ice aaand eventually, the sound of a machine running.

It's easier to break the ice first! ]

[ You're telling her! Guess she has to just be more direct whenever Ryuu comes out of the kitchen.

She's sort of standing up, staring expectantly at the kitchen door... ]

[sarashi]

[ And as she comes out, she's got a pretty big bowl of shaved ice! Looks like it should be big enough for two. ]

Yo! Sorry about that, had t'make sure we had enough ice.

[ Shaved ice topped off with strawberry syrup! She's even added a little flag to the top of it, like it's a mountain. ]

Woah... [ That's a big pile of shaved ice! It's almost mouthwatering... But she hasn't forgotten her original goal here. ]

That looks delicious! But I think something's missing from it?

Oh shoot-- is there? What'd I miss?

Another spoon. So we can actually share it.

[ Wink. ]

[sarashi]

Oh! Shit, my bad. One second--

[ She's running back some place real quick, and then... she brings another spoon!

And... holds it out to Zoe's hair. ]

Sorry about that. Didn't know if you were gonna share the spoon or not.

[ Zoe just grabs it with said hair and gently sticks it into the bowl. ]

I mean, if you wanted me to feed you it that's one thing, but I dunno if you're into that.

The hell're you talkin' abo--

[ ...oh.

Ohhhh. ]

H-Hang on, I ain't, really!

[eldritchwaifu]

[ Yay, she got the hint! ]

See? That's why I asked for the extra spoon! [ Smirk. ] Thought you could use a cool treat too since you've been working so hard.

[sarashi]

Huh! I guess I hadn't thought I was over workin' myself. Guess I can take a five minute break?

Go for it!

[ She pulls out a chair and gestures for Ryuu-chan to sit next to her. ]

[sarashi]

[ And so, she does! Ryuu glances at the shaved ice, just unsure of where to start. It wasn't really hers, she'd made it for Zoe, so... ]

Should be good, if you want the first taste.

[eldritchwaifu]

Hmmmm...!

[ Problem is, she kind of wanted to give the first taste to Ryuu. Because it would be cute! But ya know what, she can work with this. ]

Crazy idea: On the count of three, we both take the first bite together!

[sarashi]

Huh. Sounds kinda silly, but... I'll give it a try.
