【EVENT】 New Year's Wishful Dreaming
.
Wishful Dreaming Event
On the Eve of the New Year, the city of Starsand is surprisingly quiet. For a place so eager to throw parties, you might think that the streets would be full of life. But instead, Starsand’s streets are quiet and it’s citizens shutting down shops early. In this city, the last night of the year is contemplative and quiet. Citizens might make their last shrine visits, but it’s uncommon to see them out past 11.
They say that it’s important to fall asleep before the New Year, because you want to treasure your first dream of the New Year. Supposedly it’s lucky and prophetic. If you write it down and remember it, that dream can even guide you to your greatest desire. And rumors are always good ideas in Starsand.
Sleep comes easy on this night. Characters will find themselves getting drowsy by 4am at the latest. When they do fall asleep, they fall into a deep and elaborate dream.

Yeah? So what about the ones who need you but y'can't hear? The ones who need a "hero" but don't wanna bug anyone? The hell does "need it" mean? Did this one tell you they needed help?
Strength's everything. Your turf, your home, your family, your gang, it's all important. Someone bein' a hero just to be a hero makes me sick.
no subject
And all you're doing with your strength is pretending like you know me to pick a fight. What do you know? Just stop talking before you embarrass yourself.
no subject
Well, there's an alternate way for this to go, then. ]
Y'know what? My bad. Sorry about that. S'rude of me to talk so much an' not offer to help out.
[ She decides to turn... and head towards the person laying unconscious on the ground. Kneeling and then, summoning her bokken.
She whispers something under her breath, before standing up straight, the tip of her wooden sword at the person's throat. ] ]
Tell ya what. I'll help ya now.
I'll make them beg for you to help. That sound good to you?

The only warning Karin gets is a machine's voice calling out "Owl Night", and then a purple blur slams into Karin at incredible speeds, dragging her along far away from that unconscious victim.]

Karin has a split second chance to brace herself hearing the machine call out, before she's struck by a surge of purple, grunting as she attempts to put some force behind her resistance. Looks like she's trying to get her away from the body...
Fine by her, then. Her body'll ache, but she can start in on heating up, steam emerging from her body. ]
no subject
She's taking her distance, though, hovering over the ground with twin swords drawn.]
Fine. If this is what you want, then come at me.

The truth was, she had only expected the one set of armor, with the one set of abilities. Now that this new set has appeared, with a speed that'll absolutely be hard to keep up with, it's made her that much more excited.
Drawing her bokken, she takes off. Karin's fast, not nearly as fast as Fauna just was but she can bound towards her with a sense of speed that'd throw off someone not expecting anything superhuman.
Her eyes focus directly on Fauna, trying to gauge where she'd move if she jabbed at her midsection. It's not intended to be anything like a heavy blow, more like determining how she moves in that armor, how she reacts and may counterattack.
Really though:
She's just here to have fun. ]

A log, in fact, which falls to the ground in Fauna's place.
Instead, Fauna appears out of dark smoke behind Karin as she dives in. She can't use her swords- Karin is, as far as Fauna can tell, human. She can't just attack like she would a monster.
Which is why she's trying to just strike Karin on the back of the neck to take her out in one shot.]

Ninja.
Karin tries to swivel to little success. She'd like to have turned her hips to catch her and slam her into the dirt, but the timing was off. Instead, the strike connects, but not clean enough to actually knock her out. Only send her to the ground.
At least, it felt like it. Karin tries to keep herself stable using her bokken, but damn did that hurt. Sucking her teeth, she tries to regain her footing, casting her weapon aside. ]
You... you takin' me lightly...?
no subject
Call it what you want. I'm not going to let you hurt anyone here.
[All four of Fauna go in- Punches to the gut, chops to the neck. Trying to take her down without actually injuring her.]
no subject
As she's attacked, as she's attacking, she yells out. ]
You... goddamn... coward!
[ A hero, resorting to cheap tricks, trying to just subdue her instead of fighting her-- and she can feel these blows taking their toll on her, as her body began to overheat in frustration. ]
no subject
[Fauna hesitates, though. Not from her words, but because she's not sure if she can attack again. If Karin hasn't gone down already... would one more attack do it? Or would that be going too far? She doesn't want to kill her, or even seriously injure her.... What should she do?]
no subject
[ She takes a step, but winds up falling to a knee. Goddamn it, her body's stronger than this, why can't she keep going-- ]
All of you, always talking about protecting the innocent and keeping others safe, but the second you think your work's done, you just fuck off! You're a coward! A half-assed excuse of a fighter!
[ It's the loud barking of an angry, low on fumes girl, trying to will her legs to let her stand back up. If she loses here, she might as well be dead. It just reaffirmed how weak she actually was.
How she couldn't amount to shit without Onee-san. ]

[... All right then. One more shot.
The same mechanical voice from earlier calls out: "Owl! Finisher!" And Fauna approaches, darkness swirling around her.
The darkness gathers around one foot...]
They'll look out for you, too.
[And one kick, square to the chest.]
no subject
But, as Fauna's kick hits straight on, that consciousness fades. The steam fades from her body and she's back to a normal temperature, and she's out like a light.
--Waking up, outside of the dream with a startle. ]
