April Fools Event

Happy April Fools Day! Except that such a holiday does not exist in Starsand City. Which makes the timing of this event oddly coincidental.

Starting on the morning of April 1st, the Startnet Network will be glitched. Usernames might change, messages may misfire, private messages may suddenly go public, and video chats will have somewhat annoying Instagram filters. The network will automatically fixed itself on Monday, April 3rd, but it will be possible for Fallen Stars to fix things sooner if they work together!

There will be no event catch-all. Nor will April's general catch-all go up until the event ends on April 3rd. Please feel free to post to the community, your own catch-alls, or use inboxes. This post can be used for plotting and you may begin forward dating posts if you'd like.

Q&A

Q: What kinds of username changes can happen?
A: Username changes should be related to the characters affected. The usernames are chosen when the network reads the characters' mind and selects a way they would describe themselves. This may range from something simple, like "Person w/ Pink Hair," to something more personal, like "Cake Lover." While the aim is to make these usernames a lighthearted and fun way for characters to learn about each other, it is also possible for the network is accidentally share embarrassing details.

If the username would need a CW, please use "un: CW" for the headers and put the username in the body of the message instead. Thank you!

Q: Can characters swap usernames?
A: If you get permission from the other player, then yes!

Q: Can usernames change multiple times?
A: Yes! They can even change mid-conversation.

Q: Can usernames be fixed manually?
A: No. Attempting to fix the username manually will result in a new random username.

Q: What does it mean for a message to misfire?
A: Misfired messages are meant for one character, but instead get sent to another. They can also be accidentally posted publicly to the entire Starnet server.

Q: What kind of Instagram filters?
A: Anything innocent, but annoying. They might change a character's appearance slightly, such as adding bunny ears or changing their hair, or put effects on the screen.

Q: Can non-Fallen Stars see Starnet?
A: No. The network will remain private to only Fallen Stars and those who have Starnet devices.

THE FIX

In order to fix the network, it is possible for the Fallen Stars to create a 'cure.' The cure is a program that can be sent between Starnet devices. But there is a catch: It can only be sent between two devices that have never sent private DMs to one another and it can only be sent 3 times per device. It requires five minutes of direct messaging in order to affect a new device. Once downloaded to a new device, the 'cure' can be sent 3 more times by the new device.

The cure will arrive, with instructions, to 3 random devices on the evening of IC April 1st. To enter the lottery to receive the cure, please reply here by midnight/PST on IRL April 1st.

Someone is trying to get onto Starnet, which is causing the network to freak out. If she works at it, Inaba may be able to discover this after the network is fixed on April 3rd.
