The relenting summer heat finally lifts, giving way to the chill of an arriving autumn. Trees hold warmly covered leaves, which will fall slowly over the course of the month. And, thanks to the hard work of the Golden Oaks Team from September's Autumn Fest, the trees favor a golden yellow for the first two weeks of the month.

Trees and their leaves aren't the only thing decorated for October. The civilians have also begun setting up traditional Halloween-ish decorations: Carved pumpkins, wreaths of pinecones, festive decor in spooky colours, and fake ghosts help to change the atmosphere of the city. Where as before the city was pastel coloured, now it is coloured with dark purples, blacks, and splotches of orange and green. People wear masks and costumes as they walk around town, acting like it's normal. Everyone seems to be getting festive for some reason, but what?

The answer: Spirit Day. Otherwise known as 'Halloween' in many other worlds, this holiday is a time to honor the spirits who power the city of Starsand. The decorations tend to be handcrafted, not spirit made, in a show of appreciation. Spirits can turn them into temporary shrines and gain boosts of power, so they take more interesting forms than the usual firefly glows: You might see glowing cats, birds, bats, or even spooky ghost-like apparitions around the city. And with everyone wearing masks and costumes, it may be hard to tell spirit from human this month. At the end of the month, 'Spirit Day' will be celebrated with homemade candies and a human-driven party. No spirit magic is used in the making of this holiday, so roll up your sleeves and lend a helping hand! It's going to take a lot of work!

Also... Maybe carry some starling on your person at all times. For reasons.

(A) WELCOME TO STARSAND CITY


Arrivals in the month of October are arriving just in time for everything to be different. Usually the city is pastel coloured and the civilians wear warm, friendly faces. This month however, the city is coloured in spooky purples, blacks, oranges, and greens-- and the civilians are wearing masks and costumes. They'll usually take the masks off to welcome new arrivals, aware that they might otherwise be frightening. In addition to offering free housing and food, the civilians will also help new arrivals get a mask and costume to help them blend in. It's also common to get a lot of homemade candy.

Unlike most months, new arrivals will also be greeted by spirits in near-solid forms. While some spirits still prefer their firefly-like state, many are taking the forms of animals and ghosts. They are eager to greet the Fallen Stars and help them out, even if they cannot speak to explain the situation. Even longtime Fallen Stars may find that the spirits are cozying up to them more than usual.

(B) DECORATING FOR SPIRIT DAY


The primary task this month is preparing the 'Spirit Day' at the end of the month. Because this is a holiday to give thanks to the spirits, it is considered a rule that they don't have to lift a finger to help. It's the civilians' turn to work hard for their spirit friends. This means that every decoration, every costume, every single snack, and all of the organizing has to be done by human hands. Of course, Fallen Stars with magic are welcome to help out as well... Kami, on the other hand, are supposed to take it easy and rest with the spirits.

Characters are welcome to arrange their own events for Spirit Day: Whether that be a dinner party, a live show, a spooky haunted house, or similar attraction. The goal is simply that Spirit Day be a lot of fun. In order to facilitate this, shopkeepers and specialty food makers are offering lessons in things such as crafting, sewing, and candy making. If your character has wanted to pick up some extra skills, now is a great time to pursue it!

Spirit Day itself will be celebrated with an open mingle, so look forward to it later this month!

(C) TRICK OR TREAT


Have you been collecting starling for the past few months? Good. Because you're going to want some on hand every day this month.

While a regular world's Halloween might only have Trick-or-Treating on the night of, Starsand's Spirit Day festivities have Trick-or-Treating all month. This is an exclusive privilege to the spirits, who can only make one sound this month: Trick or Treat? If you're approached by a spirit and asked this question, you're supposed to give them a piece of starling. But if you don't, you can expect to have a playful magic trick cast on you. Magic tricks last at most 3 hours and include things such as:

• Animal Ears/Tail: Stronger hearing might also be included!
  
• Invisibility: You'll still bump into things and be able to write or speak, but no one can see you.
  
• Chocolate Touch: All of the food and beverages you try to eat or drink becomes chocolate.
  
• Candy Trail: You'll leave a trail of wrapped candies with every step you take. Hope no one follows you.
  
• Hand Holding Curse: Your hand will snap to a nearby person's like a magnet and you won't be able to let go for an hour.
  
• Hiccups: You cannot stop hiccupping for an hour.
  

Fortunately, all curses can be broken early if someone gives you a piece of handmade candy. The treat must be made by the person in question and you have to eat it willingly in order for the cure to work. This treatment is publicly available knowledge.

(D) TESTS OF COURAGE


Throughout the city, there are many haunted houses or otherwise "spooky locations" set up with the goal of testing your courage! They open every night and you can visit one per night. By completing a challenge, you will boost the faith for the specific spirits at that location and help them stay strong for the year to come! It's a fun act of charity to show some appreciation for the spirits while also having fun.

All haunted locations are games and are advertised as such. No one should be going in under the impression that they're in any real danger. Spirits are taking physical forms in order to assist with the scares, but some civilians are also putting on costumes to help with the fun. Don't attack your scare actors!

Most locations have minor puzzles that need to be solved in order to progress. The use of powers is also permitted, so long as no one gets hurt. Fallen Stars may also volunteer or set-up scare locations if they want to help the spirits without taking on the tests of courage themselves.

Kallamar | Cult of the Lamb

(( A bit of warning, you may want to read through Kallamar's permissions and opt in post. I will be putting content warnings for the varying prompts in the headers. Also, mild spoilers since Kallamar's coming in after a particularly nasty boss fight. ))

(A) How the tide has turned... (CW: Mild spoilers, mention of blood and violence)
[ It was like waking from a nightmare to find yourself in a dream.

Not that Kallamar thought that brutal confrontation was anything but real. How could he? The sight of the Lamb's blade stained with his blood was fresh on his mind, and though his wounds had all somehow healed he still felt exhausted and sore and… Off. Incredibly so.

But wait, this isn't the Gateway where The One Who Waits was chained. This isn't any kind of afterlife at all. Is he in… No, this isn't Anura either. Too much greenery. Too... Full of squarish buildings and handmade decorations?

Two of his weapons lay at his sides. To his right, the staff. To his left, the Cruciger. His blades were nowhere to be seen, so his first instinct was to pick up what he had dropped before… ]

…!?!

[ He froze up at the sight of his hand… These are not his hands. He reached up to touch his face, but it barely felt like his face. Why is there long fur hanging in front of his eyes?! Why do his tentacles feel like they've been condensed into a pair of legs? Why do his powers feel so weak-

His crown! He yelped with panic as he frantically tore it from his head and turned it around. ] No… NO…! [ His heart sank at the state of his crown. Where there should be a round sapphire eye had been crossed out. ] WHY?! HOW-?! This cannot be happening- GUH!

[ He nearly jumped at the sight of someone approaching. That figure, a lamb with white fleece-- No! NOT AGAIN! NOT WHILE HE'S LIKE THIS!

With no sword or dagger nearby, he grabbed for his staff, clutching his crown to his chest with one hand and gripping his weapon with the other. He points the top of the staff towards the stranger, but it's clearly shaking in his trembling grasp. ] S-STAY BACK! I'M WARNING YOU...!

[ That lamb, though... They're glowing brightly, but he doesn't see a crown of any sort on their head... But, wasn't the Lamb with the red crown the last of their kind? More importantly, why is this lamb on all fours like some lesser creature?

More strange creatures hear his cries and take notice. Most of them resembling lesser beasts that seemingly possess no civility or rationality; A cat. A dog. A mule. A few more stand on two legs like rational creatures, but it's hard to determine what species any of them are with hardly any features to speak of. Curious beings, they were, but the lingering fright from his previous ordeal caused Kallamar to swing at any beings that got too close. ] BACK, I SAID!

[ The beings... No, the spirits seemed smart enough to back away before they could get hit, but they wouldn't leave. Kallamar clung to his staff as his eyes darted from one spirit to the next. ] W-Who are you? What is this place? What do you all want with me?!

(B) Decorations, but no bones to be seen.
[ Eventually, Kallamar managed to calm down and think more clearly. From what he might have gathered from the locals, this isn't the first time anyone was unceremoniously summoned to the world they call Starsand, and he would not be the last…

So neither the Lamb nor their heretical master had anything to do with this. Kallamar was spared, as he desperately wished. But was it worth getting cut off from his followers and losing almost everything he had…?

Oh, who was he kidding? The Red Crown has become so powerful Kallamar would have lost everything either way. At least the residents of this town are charitable enough to so-called Fallen Stars like himself…

If only they would stop calling him a "wizard!" This was the fifth time he had to tell one of the locals he was not wearing a costume, but to be fair his robes and broken crown did stand out among everyone else's odd fashions. One person even gave him a mask to "complete the look!" ]

What is this. [ He flatly asks as he turns the felted thing around in his hands. ] Some sort of... Thick fabric? [ Parts of it are stuffed... But not with hay or rocks or anything familiar. Why is it so squishy? ]

(C) The Fallen Bishop.
[ Kallamar's first encounter with Trick or Treating wasn't exactly pleasant. No, he wasn't further harmed, but he did get into a brief argument with a spirit about his divinity... If he had any left after what the Lamb had done to him. But alas, he's clearly been cut off from the Lands of the Old Faith, much less his following. As punishment for not being able to provide what the spirit asked, Kallamar has to suffer through a curse. A very stupid curse, but a curse nonetheless.

So now anyone can follow the trail of wrapped candies to the fallen Bishop sulking at the bottom of a stairway. He glares miserably at the pile of candy that's collecting around him... Before he spots another person crossing his path. Should they take notice of him as well, they might hear a soft, defeated growl before he speaks. ]

What is it? Have you come to humiliate me as well?

[ My, that was some sort of commotion, wasn't it? Milo thought they would just enjoy a relaxing day out - hit up some of the local shops, have a nice sit down at their favorite café... but it seemed life had other plans.

The noise was what caught their attention. Screaming and shouting; a panic. They were more curious than they were concerned - they'd dealt with plenty of beings panicked after their untimely demises, after all. Still, they summoned their scythe with a casual flourish just in case it became necessary. They felt a lot better about this decision upon seeing someone unfamiliar waving a large staff around.

They don't seem concerned as they approach, however, huffing and doing their best to wave the lingering spirits away. ]

Shoo, all of you. This seems like my area of expertise.

[ Whoever this is, he's clearly confused. Milo's heard of Fallen Stars arriving after they die in their original world - maybe this is one of those cases. And if that's true, there's no better choice to offer this sorry soul some elucidation. They keep their scythe close to their side, holding it casually rather than at the ready. ]

Akutagawa Ryunosuke | Bungo Stray Dogs

I. (Spirit friends)
[ Since his arrival several months ago, Akutagawa has had something of a soft spot for the glowing, mute, magical beings. He's conscious of them, perhaps overly so due to his temper. He'd always had a habit of taking his frustration out on things like trees or other such things, but given that spirits tend to inhabit them, he's had to adjust. This and his relationships with the Yumeno-Kuroneko family only seemed to elevate his status in the spirits eyes...

So it's no wonder that now that the spirits had more solid forms he was being positively flocked with spirits of all shapes and sizes. One could easily find him in or around the ADA Café with an assortment of cat and dog spirits following after him, or out and about in town with more wildlife oriented spirits like deer or birds. Regardless, he seems resigned to this fate and regards any stares with a questioning gaze. ]

II. (Decorating)
[ Akutagawa isn't the most craft-oriented individual, but his powers did put him in the unique position of being able to hang up just about anything with minimal fuss. So instead of helping with the making part, he was focusing on assisting with the setup itself, hanging lanterns, lights, decorations, anything that was either too difficult to maneuver or was going too high up to safely hang manually.

The obvious downside of this was that it involved a lot of physical activity and use of his ability which forced him to take frequent breaks so as not to upset those around him. He can be found lightly wheezing, sitting at a bench with some decorations he's yet to hang up, likely with a spirit or three hanging around him.

Should someone approach him, he'll make room on the bench for them to sit if they need to. ]

[Elliot had meant to take a break from decorating and having recognized Akutagawa thought he could sit at the same bench. But he notices the wheezing as he approaches, his eyebrows pinched together severely in concern.]

i. out and about

[ Rinne couldn't help but get swept up in the celebratory mood, especially considering how festive and enthusiastic the spirits were about it. He'd spent so much time trying to appease spirits that getting the chance to celebrate along with them felt like a rare priviledge that he wasn't going to take any of this lightly. Sporting a black cat mask, he spends most of his time helping with the decorations.

In this case, he's been busy setting specially crafted jack-o-lanterns in front of various homes. Chances are, a spirit may have commissioned a special one for a Fallen Star or two, and Rinne's there to deliver it. Carrying it in his arms, Rinne's there to present you with your very own carved pumpkin! ]

ii. test of courage (assist)

[ Welcome to one of Starsand's "Premier" (not really) haunted houses! Before anyone goes in, they're given a small bit of backstory on the scene.

The 13th anniversary of the murder of the 13th heir of the powerful Juusando family. It's said that on this anniversary, his ghost would return to wreak havoc on anyone who dared enter their mansion, unless his long lost will can be found and his soul can be put to rest.

It looks as if the main area focused on here is the dining area. A dapper looking young butler with red hair appears to politely bow. ]

Good evening. My name is Rokudo. Please allow me to serve you today.

[ He's never felt fancier! Rinne turns to leave before there's a booming sound of thunder clapping, and the lights flicker before going out completely. There's momentary darkness before a group of candles spontaneously light up, providing a soft bit of light. Seeming slightly startled by this development, the young butler speaks. ]

Damn it, it's starting... I was hoping my master would wait until our esteemed guests left... sorry, I'll have to ask for your assistance for the night.

iii. test of courage (pranked participation)

[ Sometimes, you come across two spirits. Both looking for an offering, just outside of a 'test' site that Rinne was going to volunteer at. Both very, very disappointed to find out that Rinne doesn't carry starling on him when he doesn't need to. Trick or treat failed! Leaving Rinne to see his Haori of the Underworld suddenly float off of his body and zoom into the forest.

It was extremely clear. He'd have to venture in so that he could get his haori back. Of course, that's one trick done. As Rinne starts to make his way in, he feels a tug on one of his arms, and he stops in his tracks. Tug, tug... ]

Hey--!

[ Whoever's there, let go of his hand?! ]

[ He's been good, he's killed who he was told to, he didn't run and came back when he was called. That made him a good kid and good kids got rewarded, right? That was Delta's mindset as he wandered through the "Test of courage" that was set up. There were a bunch of these, but he'd never gotten to go to one before. He'd always been busy with one mission or test or another.

This year all he'd wanted to do was get to have fun with the spirits, but why did everything have to be so scary? He tugged his hood down a little farther over his head. Nothing had jumped out at him for a while thankfully, so he was wondering if he was getting close to the exit...

And then someone's hand snapped into his

"Hey--!" ]



"WAAAAAAAAAA-!!"

[ Rinne now had a hand full of terrified child and said terrified child was intent on booking it away from him. Not that a small ten year old can do much. His attempt at running away resulted in him nearly tugging his arm out of its socket and losing his balance ]

[ What's that? There are cooking classes happening? Lessons in handicrafts? For the most part, Ryoko's participating in the classes as a bystander, except when it comes to cooking! She's filling in, and is taking this opportunity to clear her throat and offer up the following start. Yes, naturally, she's dressed for the part too. ]

Okay! Have you ever wanted to pack yourself a lunch, but not known where to start? Having trouble with the balance? Don't know how to cook everything effectively? Making a bento isn't as easy as it sounds, after all! Packing together something nutritious and well balanced is hard. Don't worry, though! That's what I'm here for!

[ Her eyes are sparkling, and she presses her glasses back to her face! ]

[ --Except, Ryoko generally keeps starling on hand, so this isn't an actual prompt?! Well, okay, that'd be kind of silly and boring, wouldn't it?

So, one of the spirits decided to play a trick on her anyway!

Ryoko had been enjoying her walk, glancing back occasionally to spot a couple of spirits trailing behind her. Then, a few more. Then... she sighs. This is really silly, but she'll deal with it? If she passes by someone she vaguely knows, she'll say something: ]

They're probably safe if you want to try one. I don't get it either.

iii. test of courage - preestablished CR only, please!

[ How did she let herself get talked into this? Really, it would be silly for Ryoko to be so terrified of ghosts considering she's been surrounded by spirits for months now, and you know, the whole "being a magi" part making her a little more willing to deal with danger. Yet, here she is, she's putting on her extra brave face, definitely not looking nervous in the slightest as she and whoever she's with approach one of those spooky locations. With a quiver in her voice, she speaks: ]

W-Well, it's not too late, we can... we can turn back at any time, if you don't want to do this.

[ Please say yes??? ]

[ Sorry Ryoko, but you aren't getting out of a haunted house that easily! Taiga's slightly behind Ryoko, pushing her forward by the shoulders so she can't escape. ]

C'mon, are you that chicken? It's just a little haunted house! How scary can it be? I think I've heard the spirits can smell fear, too...

[He can't help but to get in the mood with everyone else decorating and all. He might be a little inexperienced with decorations and how to go about it. But he figures if he watches others and copies them, it should all work out. He hopes. He is not the tallest though so fumbles in attempting to put them up once he has made his decoration, if a rather amateur one.]

I can't.....reach. Can you? I want to hang it up there.

C:

[Chocolate touch. Of course the child tempted with a chocolate bar back home to lure him can now....just make chocolate by touch. Because that is clearly a great idea. As if his teeth need more sugar. He seems rather excited and to be enjoying this transformation when he first discovers it in his ability to create chocolate out of whatever he eats or drinks, as he sits eating.....something that decidedly is not a chocolate bar?]

[His stomach might not appreciate it after too long though....]

[Gus is a prey animal. Or at least, in part. So the whole horror and scares and haunting. Does not go down well. Even if he himself might give some a fright with his eyes in the dark for example. He does want to help the spirits, especially given he has met and done well in trying to make friends with some of them.

He is rather easily startled though, and more likely ends up trying to hide more than he really makes progress, if left to his own devices. Even with being told this was just pretend. So he is probably found hiding in one of the houses.]

[ Meanwhile, there is a rather miserable fellow leaving a trail of wrapped candies in his wake. Why? Because some spirits decided to give him a really weird curse and he's not exactly happy about it. Nor is he happy about suddenly finding himself in this weird city trapped in a weird form...

The boy with antlers is a momentary distraction from his predicament. Clearly not like the mortals from his world, but close enough to remind him of them.

And then he notices the boy's eating some odd object made of what he assumes to be some manner of brown food? ]

What is so great...? [ Quick question, how many random things are also made of chocolate now? ]

Shijima Chika | OC

a. lay of the land

[Chika has been here for a bit now, but, well. It's a big city, and it can be hard to get your bearings, even for a sighted person. For Chika? It's even worse. She managed to figure out a place to live, reasonably close to a store, so it's not too hard for her to live on her own... but it's still a large city. If you've been concerned about her, Chika can usually be found at a park not too far from her apartment, with earbuds in, or tapping her way back home.

Alternately, she might be craning her neck, trying to listen to something, before approaching you.]

... Excuse me... Could you tell me where the Shrine of Curiosity is?

b. stalemate

["Trick or Treat", says a spirit.

"What", says Chika.

And now, there's just an uncomfortable standoff. Chika doesn't seem to be aware of the tradition, or what she would do, and luckily for her, the strange spirit seems hesitant to play their pranks on a blind girl who doesn't actually know what's going on. But neither of them seem able to communicate... Maybe you should step in? Either with a Starling... or maybe a heroic individual might take the spirit's trick upon themselves.

Or you could just leave her on this standoff. The air is getting a little chilly, though...]

c. unseasonable weather

[Chika hadn't been intending to participate in the tests of courage. She had no interest, and anyway, it what were they going to do that was so scary for her? She'd be able to hear most scares coming. They were stupid, and not at all scary.

Or so she told herself. But as she was walking past one of the sites of those courage tests, she hears a shriek of terror, and Chika jumps, and-

Suddenly, it's snowing? Pretty heavily, even, but only within about twenty feet of Chika. But as she's trying to run home, the snow is following her, and making it somewhat hard to run...]

[ At least she's been here longer. At least she's had time to settle in. This fellow, though... Circumstances have left him tense and confused. It's no wonder he snaps, turning around and snarling at her. ]

Yuuto Yumeno ☆ Kami of Spacetime

(a) the masked kami

[Technically, Kami aren't supposed to work on Spirit Day preparations: This is meant to be a holiday to repay the work that they do all year round, not another chance to relay on their powers. But there are two ways to get around this rule:

1) Never let the civilians know that you're a kami in the first place! Yuuto still keeps his identity a secret from them and tries not to interact with them, for fear of aggravating his Rumor.

and

2) Wear a mask! Then no one will recognize you anyway and you can help out as much as you want!

Well. Maybe. Except that Yuuto's long belt "tail" is still visible, even when a black cat mask covers his face. It sways energetically as he offers his help to the civilians: Carrying boxes, arranging displays, mixing ingredients, painting walls... Yuuto will take any task offered to him with a smile. When he's finished, he bows to the civilian in charge;]

Thank you for the opportunity to help out! [Then stands and turns-] Okay! Onto the next-- one-- Oh...

[And sees himself face-to-face with a Fallen Star... Shit. His tail wraps around his leg and he tries to shuffle away without being scolded.]

(b) courage requires fear

[Yuuto has spent his entire life among spirits, so ghostly apparitions mean very little to him. The monstrous forms that spirits take for the tests of courage look very normal to him, actually. So he's been able to do tests of courage without any trouble.

He pauses on one of the haunted trails to feed the spirits, giggling at their horrific antics: No amount of jagged fangs or twisted forms seem to bother him.]

Satou ☆ The Kami of Love

(a) decorating the garden

[With the usual pastel shades being covered up for the month, Satou has a lot of work to do on her rose garden. The Shrine of Love typically has red and pink roses in the entrance garden, which is where most people come to leave offerings and receive simple blessings. But for Spirit Day, it needs to be changed. She needs to turn them purple, black, and orange.

Satou stands at the edge of the garden with some buckets of paint, which glitters with apparent magic. She has her hair tied up in a ponytail, as if she's about to get to work, but...]

I probably can't do it myself, huh? I'll ruin the spirit of... Spirit Day... Which isn't very Spirit of me! [She puffs her cheeks immaturely;] Booooo.

(b) a normal day out

[One clear advantage of Spirit Day and its preparations is the ability to hide one's identity. Satou doesn't get very many chances to hit the streets as a normal person due to her celebrity-like status as the ruling kami. So even if she's not allowed to work hard this month, she can at least enjoy some part of October.

She puts on a black cat mask and changes into a black dress, then heads out for a day of casual shopping and chilling at cafes. It's nice to be treated as a normal girl and she's enjoying the change of pace. At least, until her mask falls off when someone bumps into her. Satou scrambles to pick it up, but it's too late. People are staring at her and struggling to process the sight of their pure and sweet kami wearing all black and dressing casually.]

Uhhh... Sur, surpriiise! [She stands quickly, looking for an escape point,] You've uhh won 'find the kami,' uhhhhh wowzers I'm uh... ugh.

[ Delta is... not a very sneaky kid. He's not good at keeping a low profile, can't lie under pressure, and scares easily. It was a lot easier for him to blend in with everyone else during this month though with everyone so busy and dressing up anyway.

Why was he hiding in the rose garden? Well, he's not really sure either. His older brother had suggested he go say hello to the kami there if he got a chance while he was out, but he'd gotten distracted by the roses. He's always liked plants and flowers especially.

So when a woman comes out noting that she can't do work, he assumes she's the Kami he's been told to find... And pops out of the bush he was hiding in, heedless of the scratches from the thorns. ]

Shugo ☆ The Kami of Curiosity

(a) test of NOPE

[Shugo is actually something of a coward. Underneath his kami persona is a cowardly human, who still can't always think straight in scary situations. Even so, he had offered to go to a test of courage with Satou.

And then he got abandoned.

He's halfway through a haunted trail when he notices that Satou has gotten excited and run on ahead... leaving him alone, surrounded by spooky ghosts and horrific decorations. He freezes in place: As a kami, he has to be perceived strong and brave at all times. But as a human, he'd really like to scream right now.]

... haaa. This is fine.

Hey. Spirit Day is all about spoiling the spirits, right?

Anyone have any scary stories you could tell the ones at the library?

... Also, I need assistants who aren't spirits this month. Or else they're gonna keep working and forget that this month is about them resting.

[ Ryoma doesn't look phased at all by the decor of this place, having seen far worse in person. This had to be his least favorite time of year because of it, but the cuter decorations and the dressing up parts weren't awful. His little brother had loved Halloween when he was still alive, and Kokichi probably liked it too. Spirit day was different, but the vibe was pretty similar.

He doesn't make a fuss of Shugo seeming tense, but does give him a knowing look. ]

[Oz is working Very Hard, completing this impression by sticking his tongue out slightly as he concentrates on his decoration. When he is done, he holds up his actually rather simple pumpkins he has done with paper chains for a decoration. As if wanting to show to whoever might be nearby.]

[Oz actually doesn't seem to mind the trail of lollies he is leaving behind. Mostly because it means he can hopefully lean back and grab one whenever he wants a little treat. He isn't really considering someone might use it to track him. He is just more amused by it than anything else.]

[He asks, gesturing to the trail of lollies behind him. There's quite a variety, so surely there is one whoever it is might enjoy. Or at least find that looks like an appealing flavour they might like.]

[Actually taking said test himself? Not something he has considered. Yet. But he wants to join in and help somehow at least. Oz does if nothing else, usually enjoy dressing up. That much he is used to back home considering his status as heir to the Vessalius family.]

I. Decorating Part 1

[Klee sings to herself as she grabs some craft glue and uses way too much to glue fake fall leaves to a cardboard rectangle. Also on the sign is a messily spelled out "Happy Spirit Day" with a cute little drawing of a ghost on construction paper. After putting the leaves down, she pulls her hands back and sticks her tongue out as she tries to wipe the glue that got on both hands off with her hands. At least the glue wasn't strong enough to actually stick her hands together.]

Awe....This still looks plain... Boo. What's a good spirit thing? Klee already drew a ghostie.

II. Decorating Part 2

[While Klee mainly wanted to make decorations, she did also go around putting some out. Since she was small, she was mainly regulated to ground level decorations. So Now she's putting fake spider webs over bushes. Or she should be. She got distracted about half way through, and is now just playing with the material.]

Heeheehee~ This stuff is so stretchy and fun! Oh! If Klee puts it on, will Klee look old?

[She put it over her head, which really just made it look like she was wearing a weird fluffy hat over her normal hat.]

III. Costumes

[Klee watches people walk down the street in their costumes with awe. They all looked so funny!]

Klee wants to wear one of those too! Klee wants to look funny too! Where can Klee get one? Wait...This is supposed to be going on all month right? Then Klee needs a whoooooole bunch!

IV. Trick or Treat

[Klee doesn't actually have much starling, and what she did have she gave them out to any Trick or Treating spirit. So it wasn't long before she ran out and got tricked. Klee just giggles and waves bye at the spirit, not realizing the trick just yet. But she does know that it's lunch time, so she goes to get some food.]

Ooooh! This is great! It all tastes so yummy, like chocolate! Do you want some? It's soooo good!

[The food on her plate was clearly fish.]

V. Test of Courage

[Klee is standing right outside of a Test of Courage area. She wasn't going in just yet, and kept looking around.]

Klee isn't scared! Klee just...thinks it would be boring to go alone.

[Kisa herself wanted to have more confidence so what better than a test of courage, right? That was a good way of doing things.]

[ Spirit day, huh...

Mafuyu finds herself a little conflicted. On one hand, this is all new and fresh to her, but it's reminiscent of events back home such as Girls' Day or Children's Day.

And while Mafuyu struggles making decisions, she supposes that given that her fish is a spirit, she probably should help with the festivities, right?

So she finds herself helping with a variety of things: whether it be putting up decorations or organization. She doesn't have anything in the way of magic, but... there is one thing that Mafuyu finds herself drawn to.

And that, of course, is being able to assist with first aid. Spirits aren't supposed to be healing and that does include a certain kami which is why she's buying a first aid kit and providing support to those who may need it.

If she spots someone who is injured in any way, she'll pause before speaking up in her usual 'good girl' tone, polite: ]

I'm assisting with any first aid for this month. I might still be a student, but I have experience - I'm actually learning for medical school in the future. So if there's anything I can help with, I'd like to. I can also teach the basics, if you'd like.

[ At some point, Mafuyu finds a street piano. Someone had apparently put it out here, thinking that since the spirits sang during Wonderment, they'd like some public music.

Looking left and right to see if noboody's around to take it, Mafuyu eventually finds herself sitting down and starting to play a song, quietly, to herself, not really caring much if there's an audience or not. ]

[ While Mafuyu has been collecting Starling, she's been saving a lot of it for her own spirit - after all, it is faith made into a physical form.

But at some point, she's given a trick -

One that turns her invisible. When she said she wanted to disappear, this isn't what she meant. Which of course means that you might bump into her and subsequently hear a soft: ]

[ Mafuyu actually decided to help volunteer at the Shrine of Curiosity, so people might find her there. She's generally doing organizing the books and helping out people check out some books there if they ask, as she basically has a system here.

But sometimes she can also be seen around the spirits, telling stories.

But more importantly, she seems to be playing some songs as a story for them-- some people in particular might even recognize the tune she plays from her phone for the spirits. They did ask for scary stories, after all...! ]

[ Tests of courage.

This is something that doesn't really interest her all that much, but she finds herself walking in it regardless of her actual wants. While the purpose of it seems to be to scare people, there isn't a hint of fright on her face.

[Krista has always been drawn to music when she can hear it. It was one of the few things she was actually allowed to do. Piano was one of those things. She enjoyed the sound that came from it.

So she stood there, a smile on her face as she did until it was over.]

[Kanade can't remember the last time she decorated for a holiday. Even before her father was hospitalized, there was always an air of sadness surrounding holidays; it's when they felt the empty spot left by her mother the most. So much just seemed missing that they just sort of... toned down their celebrations. Nice meals or a few small decorations were the extent of it, in the Yoisaki household. And after her father's accident, well...

... Well.

Things were different now. She had more people around her now; people she lived with, who she actually wanted to do things with. And of course, she also has her own spirit companion - she needs to pay her respects to her, as well. It's why Kanade is out shopping now; she's at a little local hobby shop, looking at a row of do-it-yourself building kits for... birdhouses?]

Hm... which one do you like best?

[She's not talking to the person beside her - instead, she glances to the side, to a softly glowing bird on her shoulder. It has the appearance of a nightingale, but it's a bit bigger than most. Its tail feathers are long and swooping, ending just past Kanade's shoulders, and are colored in different shades of purples and pinks and browns. Its head turns to one side, then the other, like its examining the kits on the shelf with Kanade.]

... It's okay. I know you don't like to talk often. I just want to make sure you have something you like before I pick it up.



[B; Trick or Treat]

[Kanade can't say she has an abundance of starling on her. She collects it fairly regularly, of course - she's thankful enough for many things here, and is certain to make sure the spirits know it - but ever since Mikoto had become attached to her, she's been focusing more and more on her growth. That is to say, while she escapes the trick-or-treating spirits a few times, eventually they catch her with her pockets empty.

The first time, it's not so bad. Kanade can't help but look a bit exasperated as she's once again donning a pair of animal ears; though this time, instead of long, drooping rabbit ears, there are a pair of impossibly soft-looking cat ears sprouting from her head. This time around she seems a bit more... uncomfortable, frowning as she reaches up to press her hands against them.]

Loud...

[The second time, honestly, is the most mortifying time for Kanade. At first, she thought the spirit had been faking her out with its "trick". Nothing happened! But then, as soon as someone passes by, Kanade feels like she's being pulled forward by the wrist, stumbling until she reaches out and grabs that person's hand. And she just... does not let go.]

I, uh... [Oh god, help her. She looks so embarrassed.] I-I don't know why I did this...

[ Loid paused to look over, prepared to respond until he realized that she wasn't addressing him. Momentarily, he considered going back about his business until he caught a glimpse of her friend. Certainly a nightingale unlike any he's seen before, illuminated enough to give him an idea of what it was.

Appreciation for all spirits, down to the 'smallest', it seemed. ]

There's quite a selection. You'll have to watch to see if it has its eye on any one of them in particular.

i. becoming the decoration

[ Truth be told, he did this to himself. Twilight hadn't done too much in the way of disguising himself, but there were a few instances when he needed to keep a lower profile than usual-- leading him to have to change up his appearance a bit. Problem being... he might be able to fool some, but when the locals' sight is based around the soul, a lot of it just winds up being the spirits playing pretend with him. That's until today, when a shop owner asks for his assistance.

Despite his insistance that he wouldn't be good at it, and that he really should be going... he's stuck.

And so, throughout the day, you'll be able to see Twilight in a variety of haphazard costumes. A cloak and a victorian gothic shirt, to make him look like a vampire. Haphazardly tossed on bandages to become a mummy. Okay, that seems fine...

And then, someone put him in this thing.

He's basically doing a lap as an advertisement, then coming back around to be handed another silly costume. And another. This is a complete waste of his time. ]

ii. trick or treat

[ In general, he typically keeps some starling with him in case he does wind up at a shrine. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that he's always got some with him. Sometimes, his luck just happens to run out, and suddenly--

He's basically spending the rest of the day with his hand on his hat, wearing an oversized lab coat both in and out of his office. Something's not right here, clearly, especially when he has to stop to make quick adjustments to his clothes. He feels somewhat uncomfortable. ]

iii. tests of courage

[ At this point, he was starting to get the idea. Harmless tricks, making sure things were scary but not necessarily dangerous... that's fine, then. As a result, with some of the spirits getting into the idea of these tests of courage, Twilight may come across someone who's hesitating a bit. ]

Did you want to go in? It's a good way to prove how brave you've gotten lately.

[ Kaito generally isn't one to get too into the Halloween spirit - for reasons that should be obvious to anyone who knows him well. But he's more than happy to participate in the lighter aspects of Spirit Day, so he plans to help in whatever way he can. He may not have his own spirit, after all, but he's rather attached to a certain sweet little bread puppy.

So Kaito decides to put his skills to good use, volunteering at a local pumpkin patch, where gardening expertise and heavy lifting are required. Should he notice someone inspecting a particular pumpkin, he'll wander over to offer his services. ]

Hey, that looks like a good one! If you've made up your mind, I can help carry it home for you.

ii. give me something good to eat

[ Here’s the thing: Kaito generally isn’t the type to carry around cash on him. Even in Starsand, he tends to only take Starsand with him when he’s leaving the house if he knows he’s going shopping. Yes, it’s caused problems for him before. No, he hasn’t learned his lesson. Maybe this month will teach him otherwise.

Should someone find him, he’s nothing more than a pair of floating wolf ears, leaving a visible trail of candy everywhere he goes. At least that helps to negate the invisibility curse? And he’s groaning quietly just about non-stop, so. That helps, too. ]

iii. spooky scary skeletons

[ In hindsight, he really should have signed up to help with one of these courage tests if he didn’t wanna participate. But the idea had freaked him out too badly at the time, and he’d foolishly thought he could talk Kokichi out of dragging him here.

But here he is now, shaking in his (figurative) boots at the sight of the long, dark path ahead of him. ]

…You know what? I think I left the stove on, so maybe I should just head home -

[ He turns on his heel to bail, but… you’re not really gonna let him get away with this, are you? With that excuse? ]

[He tugs him back. Holding hands with someone who could be called 'your lover and your tormentor' just invites these things.]

Come on, this isn't gonna be that bad. I thought you'd gotten over the whole spirits thing. You're fine around Loafy, and he's a spirit. It's just gonna be Loafyfriends and people in shitty costumes. You MISSED actual ghost season when one of 'em was out to get my ass.

01 ㊊ Mask Shopping

[Atsushi had been looking forward to Halloween in Yokohama. While it wasn't necessarily a door-to-door candy fetch holiday back home, it was something to look forward to. A luxury, honestly, with costumes and sweets and fun. He couldn't have any of that in his orphanage, so he'd been hoping to do it with ADA...

And- Well.

Maybe he still could? It stung to be away from the other members, sure, but he had Dazai. And Akutagawa, and Gin and Fauna. Atsushi set out to one of the costuming shops in town with the intention of exchanging Starling for a simple costume and mask. But with this being his first time dressing up...]

What do I want to wear? I didn't really think about it. [A spirit floats a tiger-themed mask his way and Atsushi grimaces.] How do they know..?

02 ㊊ Tests of Courage

[Among the things on his Halloween-Now-Spirit-Day bucket list are 'tests of courage.' Atsushi has a map of the city in his hands, where he's taken the time to mark the various tests being advertised around Starsand. He's already completed a few in the nights before, but with the sun quickly setting he has to pick his next target.

In this case, he's at what looks like a haunted house. The architecture looks like something straight off a horror book cover and he's not sure if he's more intimidated or excited.]

I don't think I've seen a house this big in my life. I wonder what's inside?

Good afternoon!

I saw that there's going to be a big party at the end of the month for the spirits. It looks like there will be events and food? Would anyone like to help me to set something up? I know I'm not very good at anything, but I'd like to at least give it a try. Everyone is working so hard!

Luz Noceda | The Owl House

i. i am the who when you call “who’s there?”

[ Decorating for the holidays has an uncomfortable sense of nostalgia sitting in Luz’s gut. There are the obvious memories, of course - stringing up lights around the house with her mother, picking out matching mother-daughter Halloween costumes - but many pieces of imagery bring memories of the Boiling Isles bubbling up to the surface as well. Every black cat reminds her of Amity, every skull looks like King, and once or twice she sees the swishing of a dark cloak and wonders if Eda is nearby.

Every time, she ends up disappointed, wishing for something out of reach. So she keeps to small tasks for the most part - sweeping, painting some sets, hanging fliers for events around town. It seems harder than ever to distract herself from the feelings she’s pushed down these past few months.

But the spirits become harder and harder to ignore, until one day, when she’s passing out fliers, a particular one catches her eye - a white cat, sniffing around some nearby bushes. All her air leaves her body in a single, shaky breath, and the fliers she was holding tumble to the concrete in a scattered pile. It almost looks like - ]

…Ghost?

[ In an instant, she’s barrelling down the street, pushing past any passersby who have the misfortune of being in her path. ]

Ghost!

[ She’s just about made it to the bush in question when she runs headfirst into another unlucky Fallen Star, which sends her tumbling straight onto her rear. When she glances back up, head still spinning from the impact, the spirit is nowhere to be found. ]

No… no, no, no! Come back! Amity…

[ She hasn’t even apologized for butting into someone - it hardly seems like she’s noticed the other person at all. ]

ii. trick or treat ‘til the neighbors gonna die of fright

[ Trick or treating goes significantly better for Luz - mostly because, once she’s finally caught without starling in her pocket, she’s hit with a trick she doesn’t mind much at all. In fact, she’s liable to run up to just about anyone who looks vaguely interested to show off her brand new cat ears. ]

Check ‘em out! They move and everything!

[ Twitch twitch. She wiggles them in a manner she’s sure is adorable. ]

And I didn’t even have to pay for them or nothing.

[ Getting pranked usually isn’t something to brag about, but Luz makes it work. ]

iii. everybody scream!

[ Luz is quick to volunteer her services to the spirits for the test of courage. How could she not? It’s the perfect opportunity to dress up all spooky-like. And hey, maybe scaring some suckers will help her relieve some of that stress that’s been building up lately. She feels like a volcano about to erupt.

And erupt she does, popping out and roaring at anyone unfortunate to walk past her hiding spot. She’s wearing a homemade mask, and your mileage may vary, but some might find it more cute than scary. Still, she’s trying her best. ]

RRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHH!

[ Are you scared? Please tell her you're scared. ]

[Kokichi, for his part, has been doing his due diligence to help with the decorations - mostly at Loafy's request. That, and the other spirits tend to still care about him more than most, so he can't let anyone down here.

He's distracted putting up a fake spider - he's hoping someone has it fall on them and thinks it's real because that'd be funny - when someone crashes into him. He stumbles back a bit, but then he sees who it is.]

...Luz?

[She seems to be in a state to put it mildly. He extends a hand down towards her.]

Everything okay?

Milo Belladonna | Monster Camp

[ With every passing day, Starsand is feeling just a little bit more like home. Maybe it’s because Milo’s growing fond of it here, or maybe it’s just because of the seasonal decorations. Sometimes, when Milo’s walking through town, they squint a little, and they can pretend all the locals parading around in gaudy masks are familiar faces from home - ghouls they used to pass by in the hallway, but never really talked to. It’s a small comfort, even if when they blink those monsters’ faces are tacky and paper-mache once more.

…But really, who can say? Maybe they’re really starting to find their place here.

Of course, with all their admiration for this month’s festivities, they find themselves assisting in the decorating process as well. They take a couple of classes, eager to enrich themselves in the arts, and end up volunteering to do some chalkboard art for a darling local coffee shop. It’s a great opportunity to get into the holiday spirit - and if they get some free PSLs as well, that’s a win-win.

They’re crouched outside the storefront, surrounded by scattered chalk and a cup of iced coffee, working on what is sure to be their magnum opus. On the chalkboard they’ve sketched out a few rough figures, all enjoying cups of coffee under some ornate handwriting listing the shop’s specials. Their phone from home is sitting off to the side, too, its screen alight with an image they’re occasionally referencing. Maybe they deserve a compliment for their work? Or maybe you simply want to ask some question about that picture of real, actual monsters. Either way, Milo will stay outside the coffee shop for the better part of the afternoon. ]

ii. trick ‘r treat

[ Milo is a newer arrival, and they participated in that shopping trip at the end of last month, so it’s not long before the spirits catch them without any starling to give away. And when that happens… ]

Ah-!

[ They let out a quiet sound of surprise as their hand slots into place with someone else’s. And doesn’t let go, no matter how hard Milo pulls. ]

…I apologize. It seems I’ve gotten us into quite the predicament here.

[ But maybe this would be a good opportunity to get to know each other? To make a new friend… or maybe something more? ]

iii. scream

[ If you need a comforting presence to guide you through one of the tests of courage, Milo may just be your best bet. After all, if they could describe the atmosphere here in one word, it would be “nostalgic”. ]

Oh, this brings back so many memories!

[ They’re snapping pictures left and right as they use the flashlight on their new phone to light the path. So many phones won’t let you activate the camera and the light at the same time, but with one of these Starnet devices, anything is possible. Pet peeve solved. ]

Back at camp, there was this old abandoned manor on the grounds that we used to sneak into for all sorts of things. Ghost summonings, crazy parties, band practice…

[ They pause for a moment, stopping in the middle of the path to ponder. ]

You know, I never really thought to question what a run-down Victorian manor was doing there in the first place…

[ He's been out and about more lately, helping with the tricks the Spirits play and enjoying the atmosphere... but the chocolates he made end up running out eventually. He can only bring so many out with him, so perhaps he should have seen something like this coming.

He had been putting up some decorations when his hand was seized, so he watched with a sense of resignation as the decorations that had been tucked under his arm fluttered to the ground. He waits patiently as the stranger tugs, slipping his free hand into his jacket pocket. ]

It happens. The tricks usually wear off in about an hour, so... I guess we've got time to burn.

Kokichi Oma | Danganronpa V3

i: any path, so many worth exploring
[Well! It was almost time for Kokichi's favorite holiday of all time - Halloween. Of course it was his favorite holiday, anyone who knew him could guess that: dressing up, getting candy and eating sweets until he got sick, playing tricks, telling scary stories, singing and dancing and having a great time? ALL OF IT appealed to him!

He was going to start by getting a costume, and of course he'd wear it out. That was a given. He'd wash it when he got home - but he'd picked something he was definitely comfortable in.

Something cute, of course.

Loafy had climbed into the picnic basket, and was now peeking his little head out, looking around with wide eyes. So, he was going to go on his way...

As soon as he quit looking around at extra Halloween decorations that he didn't even need.]

ii: still, I suppose, a small delay
[Later, Kokichi ends up with a curse, more or less because he declared he wanted a trick and a treat, and the spirit was amused enough to oblige. So. Beneath his red hood, he sprouts a pair of black cat ears and in addition, there's now a small black cat tail swishing behind him.

He's now humming and putting up decorations.]

It'd be easier if this came with catlike reflexes, huh?

["Loafy doesn't have to do anything..." Loafy looked a bit smug from his basket. Kokichi rolled his eyes, letting out a small 'tsh'.]

Riii~iiiight. Be glad you're a spirit. You're not exempt from anything else, y'know!

iii: and though scary is exciting, nice is different than good!
[A test of bravery?! Kokichi ends up in front of an ominous looking mansion, a small smirk on his face.]

OOOOH-KAY! I'm gonna go on in and...wait, I should double the spiritual power. I'm already doing this nightly, but...

[He points at someone else.]

Heeeeeeeeey! Go into the haunted house with me!!!!

[Some time after her talks with both Yuuto and Akutagawa, Fauna's managed to herd the cats (or, the one cat, the space-time cat) to show up. Fauna's sitting at the table in the shared living space in the ADA base, rolling around something on the table.... Something that looks like a strange nut of some kind.

She has to amuse herself while she waits somehow.]

[ Akutagawa had been packing for the trip in his room, so it doesn't take him long to find his way into the kitchen where Fauna is.

He tilts his head at... whatever she's rolling around and pats her on the head gently as he walks by her to get some tea started. They might as well have tea while they spoke, and it was a way to keep busy in the mean time. ]

Is Yuuto on his way or should I call him?

[ Guess which local tiger themed young lady made the mistake of not having starling on her? That's right--Taiga Aisaka! As fate would have it, the spirits have an appropriate sense of humor, and have bestowed upon Taiga exactly what one would expect...

Taiga is understandably embarrassed by the result, and can be found trying to rush back to her apartment as fast as she can, without being noticed by anyone she knows. This would be a much easier task if she knew her way around, but she doesn't, and keeps looping back on streets and paths she's already walked, growing increasingly frustrated. ]

Uh... [ The eye on her forehead scans the crowd... Then she reaches out with her tentacle hand to poke the nearest helpful looking person. ]

[ At some point, some spirits decided to hit Zoe up for some Starling. Of course, with Zoe being brand new and all, she didn't have any to give them. So they gave her orange cat ears and a tail as punishment. ]

... Joke's on you, I can use this for cosplay!

[ Alas, she left her Garfield cosplay at home, but now's the perfect time to go shopping for material to make a new one! Now where to look... ]

[ Zoe may be leading the life of a teenage fangirl now, but as an eldritch cutie pie she's already seen so much horror across various timelines a haunted house isn't too scary in comparison. [After her conversation with Ryoko, Fauna tried to handle things maturely. She tried to throw herself into her work at ADA to keep herself busy... but that failed. She tried to focus on her plan for Yuuto... but she couldn't keep focused. The conversation kept playing in her mind, over and over, and before she knew it, the sun had set.

Fauna wanted to be alone. At the same time, she wanted to not be alone. She wanted to let Ryoko go happily, and she wanted to cry and throw a fit. Contradicting desires welled up, and her mind and heart were a mess. What had she done to bring this about? How could she have fixed things? It had to have been her fault, so...

As the moon rises, Fauna wanders, hoping the cool air will refresh her mind and make things easier for her. But her nature makes the turmoil in her heart reflect in her body- As Fauna walks, her form is blurred, seemingly overlaid with her gray armor. It's difficult to tell which form she's in, as though she's simply both at once overlapping each other.]

[Speaking of handling things great...here's Dazai. Dazai has been handling things INCREDIBLY WELL, by which it is meant INCREDIBLY POORLY. He's thrown himself into his work, kept to himself, all haunted by the notation of I lost him again. He might've gained Gin, he might have loyal workers, but...

Odasaku was different.

But he's all but willing to put that aside as he picks up on how Fauna's been going through her own issues. Whatever's happened, she needs someone to reach her now more than ever.

So he falls into step beside her as she turns a corner, almost effortlessly.]

You know, I'd advise we go home since it's going to get cold tonight, but you're prooooobably strong enough to tough out the elements and you'd get offended if I said otherwise.

[Dazai's signature distant smile greets Fauna, if she looks over.]

...I'm going to assume the answer is 'not great', but. How are things for you, Fauna? Mmm?

I. (Decorating)
[ Being a tennis pro, most would probably think all of Ryoma's time was dedicated to training and honing his technique, but they would be wrong. Ryoma's priority was always his family, so he has several little known skills that were helpful for making the decorations. He knew his way around a craft table, and he could sew pretty decently all things considered. Nothing fancy, but he could make serviceable enough costumes and the like.

He is however, severely lacking in the height department so he can't actually put up many of the decorations he makes, so he's been handing them out to whoever wants them. Not everyone's the best at crafts after all, so he figures he's helping. He can be found around the town with various decorations with him, putting up what he can.

If he catches someone looking at his decorations he’ll motion to the pile he has. ]

II. (Trick or... not?)
[ Ryoma's pretty much always got starling on hand- likely due to his spoiling Loafy, so getting tricked by spirits... really isn't an issue. That said he's been seeing people getting tricked all over, so he's looked into the whole "cure" thing and made chocolates to hand out if he catches anyone with a particularly obnoxious trick. He's not hard to find if someone needs to find him.

Ryoma is currently wandering around near some of the tests of courage, and if approached by someone who seems like they have a trick cast on them he'll ask: ]

... Looks like they got'cha. It bothering you?

III. (Test of Courage)
[ Ryoma doesn't consider himself to be fearless. Not by a long shot. Nor does he really consider himself to be that brave, it's just that he's seen worse, and whatever grotesque things the spirits can take on for their forms, he can always think of something he's seen or done to someone that leaves him feeling more guilty than scared. The more abstract creatures don't tend to scare him either since it's more obvious that it's fake.

So he's strolling through one of the supposedly scarier ones, not even flinching as one of the spirits jump out at him. He just looks them over and offers them a few pieces of starling before moving on. ]
