July may turn to August, but the summer heat remains. Wind and Water spirits do their part to cool civilians with cool breezes and refreshing rain showers, while standing fans remain more popular than AC units as a means of beating the heat. All sorts of shops and food stands are popping up around the city, which offer refreshing cold drinks and ice creams for the low low cost of 'thank you.' It's the final stretch before the hot summer begins cooling into autumn.

It's also a time of appreciation for Fallen Stars. The Wonderment Talent Show was a great success and the amusement park is here to stay! The civilians are stunned by yet another miracle brought about by these amazing visitors from another world. They shower the Fallen Stars in small gifts and appreciation all month. The general atmosphere of the city is hopeful and excited, with a teasing question being passed around: "What kind of miracles will the Fallen Stars bring about next?

ARRIVAL

Arrivals happen a little differently than usual this month. Normally, a 'Fallen Star' would simply blink and end up in the city of Starsand. Their sudden appearance does not surprise the natives, who instead flock with concern and empathy for the other worlder's situation. Natives usually offer free food, clothing, and other resources to the new arrivals. They will even direct them to free housing options and help them learn the lore of the city.

But this month is a bit different. When people arrive in Starsand, they are flocked by the natives. The native population is extra excited to see them and extra excited to help them. New arrivals this month may find themselves receiving extravagant gifts, buffets worth of food, and high-end housing. The reason? Natives eagerly tell them that Fallen Stars are bringers of miracles. They can do amazing things that change fate, so everyone in town is eager to support them however they can..!

CLEAN THE TRAIN

Speaking of the Fallen Stars and their miracles.

Recently, some of the Fallen Stars discovered that there used to be a train on the lowest level of the city. Hidden deep in the forest and trapped on old, rusted train tracks sleeps the once proud Starrider Express. It is a black steam engine with purple streaks and it's also... rusted, covered in plantlife, and neglected. This train could once leave the city and take people to distant locations, but it has not been able to move in years. It requires a combination of faith magic and tlc in order to get it moving again.

That's where the Fallen Stars come in! The train's tiny kami has requested help in cleaning her train and spreading the word about it! For the first half of August, Fallen Stars are being asked to come down to the first level and help with this project. Weeding, painting, greasing, oiling, decorating... So much is needed in order to get the train ready to move again! But once her train can move, the little kami has promised to help the Fallen Stars with their future travels!

THE JOB FAIR

August also marks the last month of summer vacation for students living in Starsand City. Saint's Crossing Academy is a K-12 school located on the top level of the city and they are opening enrollment for Fallen Stars. In order to get the word out, the city has decided to hold a job faire at the top level's marketplace. Fallen Stars will be able to learn about the school, employment opportunities, and even take business classes in order to open their own business in the city.

Visiting the stalls has a few perks too. For one, people can try on every company's uniform using spirit magic. how exciting wow. Visiting stalls will also produce extra Starling this month, which can be exchanged for treats or luxury items. Including things like pool toys, fancy swimsuits, and loads of sunscreen. But why would that be important..?

NOTE: This prompt is being used to check interest in opening a proper school/SoL portion to the sandbox!

WONDERMENT WATERPARK

To celebrate Wonderment Amusement Park being a permanent establishment, the park's spirits are trying something new... a waterpark! Half of the park is now being used for water-based attractions. Some are simply water-driven rides, but there are whole pools and many waterslides. There is even a lazy river that drifts around the park. At night, the pools are able to stay open thanks to the fish shaped spirits that swim through the water and glow like stars.

While basic swimsuits are freely provided, fancier ones can be obtained using Starling. There are plenty of floaties and other water toys to rent or purchase, all of which can be customized using Starling.

COOL DOWN w/ CURSED ICE CREAM

Partially because of how grateful they are and partially because it's hot as heck, civilians are offering a lot of free ice cream this month. Everything from popsicles to ice cream cones to parfaits; If it's cold and refreshing, then someone is probably offering it for free! After all that the Fallen Stars did in the last month, this is the least that they can do.

All treats are made quickly and efficiently thanks to spirit magic. This doesn't just apply to ice cream, but to all foods and products sold in Starsand City. Usually this just means that things are made easier to obtain and scarcity isn't such an issue... But it also gives room for mischievous spirit to be, well. Themselves. Thinking that it's a way to show their appreciation, some of the spirits are adding a bit of extra magic to the free snacks. They think that a little prank will make the Fallen Stars happy!

If yelled at or called out, then the spirits will always back off and reverse the effects... but otherwise, the effects last until they 'melt' in the heat. The best way to get them to go away quickly is to make yourself hot again.

The pranks include...

For Popsicles: Check your popsicle stick and pray that it says "good fortune!" Eating a popsicle will cause the fortune at the end of the stick to come true. That might mean incredible luck or a terrible curse. Bad luck won't endanger anyone's life, but it may manifest in the form of comical spirit pranks.
For Ice Cream: There are many flavors of ice cream and many effects to go with it! Fallen Stars who eat flavored ice cream may sometimes experience a physical change: This might be a new hair colour, animal ears, or height changes. This is not an age changing prompt!
For Parfaits: Parfaits require that you sit at a table and they're easy to share... Which is great, because the cursed parfait will force you to sit at your table until you share it with someone. The spirits will write the rules of their silly game on a cookie that sits under the first bite of whipped cream: Share Me or Stay With Me. Once the whole parfait is eaten by at least two people, the curse will be broken and you can leave your chair again. Until then: You and the chair are glued in front of the table!
For Freezie Pops: Ice pops will give some Fallen Stars really persistent brain freeze. This prompt isn't fun and the spirits show a lot of concern when it happens! The best way to cure the brain freeze is with warm hearted friendliness: Holding hands, chatting, and getting to know someone will cause it to fade faster. Otherwise, it can last up to a whole miserable half-hour!
For Iced Lemonade: A mood changing treat. It's supposed to make the Fallen Stars who drink it feel sweet, cheerful and confident! But sometimes it turns out too sour and they end up grumpy instead. While it won't inflict depression, it can cause a 'sour mood.' Bah Humbug.

... As always, spirits are not trying to get anyone killed or injured! If anyone seems to be in serious physical or mental danger, then a stronger spirit will always step it to reverse the prank.

A NEW CHANNEL HAS OPENED

i. train

[Fauna isn't going to be much use for the train's interior. She doesn't know how to fix a train, she doesn't know how trains work, and she's too grumpy to give much faith.

So instead, you can find her in her armored state near the train. She's lifting up slabs of concrete that were blocking the train in and tossing them aside like nothing, or drawing her sword to cut and burn vines or plants away from the train. If the train itself gets a little scorched, well, they're going to have to repair it anyway, right? Better to make sure it's all cleaned off first. She just has to clear the tracks and make sure nothing is holding the train down.

Or, of course, you might hear motorcycle noises in the forest instead... because now that Fauna has her bike, she's using it to get to and from the forest easily enough. VROOM VROOM.]

ii. water

[In between her work at the train, and all her other work, Fauna's taking time to frequent the water park. It's stupid hot, for her, and so she's just going to spend as much time as possible soaking and trying to not die of the burn.

Where did all this fur in the pool come from? Don't worry about it. Fauna is just going to soak and let the water take care of it.]

iii. research (closed to ADA)

[When Fauna isn't dying of the heat or working on the train, she's spending a good amount of time in the ADA offices, looking through all the papers she can.]

Train station, and three... If the pink flower is just a way to mark the right place, it's probably not part of the hint, but...

[Why did Ariel give her that hint? She needs more to go on. But she's pouring over all of the papers of stuff she can find about Starsand in the ADA office, trying to find any clue she can about the train station Ariel showed her. ... That said, she isn't exactly good at researching, so it's slow going.]

It wasn't Hell, that was for sure. And he was getting mobbed. Someone tossed a roast turkey, which bounced off his face. Keys to a mansion. An elegant wardrobe...

Which collided with him and sent him flying back on his ass.]

AUGH! THE FUCK?! [He snapped, sitting up.] What's with the free gifts?! Like, don't get me wrong, all of this is mine now and you're not getting a refund, but why?

[These humans are even weirder than the last. He'd be worried about blowing his cover, but honestly they were weird enough he had his doubts that they even were humans.]

And he was trapped there with his only company from home being Moxxie, who was more likely than not all for it, because he was a little bitch (affectionate) (derogatory).

He looked up at the train as they arrived, already feeling a twinge of annoyance and dread. He had a mansion now, and he was being forced into this. The dumb locomotive was huge.]

I don't know what anyone expects me to do about this. This is out of my pay grade.

[Why is everything free here? Is that how good people get by? No capitalism? He was a few kind words from curling up on the ground and moaning out NEED. HATRED.

Hey, things aren't really that bad, right? Hell was always kind of tedious, anyway. And the theme park isn't like Loo Loo World. There's no Fizzarolli. There's no Stolas to be an everpresent reminder of how bad things were, how bad he was, how unworthy everything was because he was a dumb dumb tool--no, no, it was all OKAY!

Maybe this place was fine! Maybe he could even go back to perforrrrrrrokay that's too far. He'd already taken another sip before he realized it, dropping the rest on the ground, stunned.]

Life isn't that bad. [He mumbled to himself.

Even if the normal side of his brain (well, normal so far as Blitzo-normal went) was screaming I'M SORRY, WHAT?!

This place was a brainwashing nightmare.]

I. Arrival

[By the time Xerxes gets his bearings, he is already being swarmed by people saying that Fallen Stars bring miracles, and he's one. Fallen Star is a term he's unfamiliar with, so he figures he's far away from home. So of course, he plays into it. He accepts their gifts with a smile.]

That's right! I'm a Fallen Star, here to help nice people, isn't that right, Emily?

[With skilled ventriloquism he speaks in a falsetto for the little doll on his shoulder, "That's right! That's right! As long as you're nice to us first! Kekekeke!"]

II. Arrival Pt.2

[Xerxes has gotten A LOT from the natives here, both in information and possessions. He actually didn't need this much physical stuff. He's sitting on a bench, slightly more alone, but he can hear people talking about him a little bit away. His new stuff, and old cane are sitting next to him. He feels something weird in his pocket. He pulls out a rectangle of some kind. It smells kind of like strawberries. With little hesitation he bites into it. After he's finished, the rectangle shows back up in his hand.]

Is this just...infinite sweets?

[He has assumed that it's this worlds candy, and eats that device too.]

III. Lost

[All Xerxes had to do to get a place to stay here was mention that he needed one. A key a long with a piece of paper (that had the address and directions on it) was handed over to him, along with directions to where he would apparently be staying. He thanked them and went on his way, but unfortunately, he doesn't actually know enough about Starsand to figure out the directions he was given. It takes an hour of carrying all his new stuff, he would sort it out later, to give in and ask for help.]

Excuse me, do you know how to get here?

[He's holding out the piece of paper.]

IV. Job Fair

[Well, he should probably get a job here, so he made his way over to the Job Fair. He's pretending to look interested at all the stalls, and listening to what the people running them have to say.]

My~ There are certainly a lot of possibilities here, aren't there?

V. Ice Cream

[Xerxes wasn't about to pass up free ice cream. Which is why he's now walking around with fluffy white cat ears on his head. He hasn't seemed to notice them yet though. He eventually overhears someone talking about a guy with cute cat ears. His mood sours, and his ears fold back on his head.]

Cat ears? I hope Cheshire isn't here too...

So he'd abruptly taken charge.]

ALRIGHT! Get to sweeping and wiping the coaches. Some of you, get water to toss over the train. We'll also need sand for the sand bins and windshield fluid for the windshield!

After you toss the water, Water Team, you'll need to get detergent and disinfectant, but worry about the water for now!

[He claps his hands.]

[He shook his head, stepping onto the train, clutching a broom. God, he hated sweeping. What a pain in the ass. It was also questionable whether anyone would listen to him, but...]

[Well, the spirits seemed to immediately jolt in fear when he considered getting a freezie pop, which concerned him in itself. They were more accommodating with the parfait, so he'd gotten a seat. It'd been a Concord Grape Parfait, so he'd been thrilled.]

Then, however, he sees the instruction... share me.

[ Echidna's been keeping herself to the proverbial shadows as of late, but this month it's going to be much different.

Funny that she wasn't really out and about during the month of curiosity, especially given that her own specialty as a Witch deals with something similar: greed. But she's here now and people who see her will notice that there's just something that's a little off about her. Like something giving you a really bad feeling in the pit of your stomach. ]

And of course, that means that she'll be here, checking out the many jobs with excitement, but more importantly, she is trying out all the uniforms. In fact, people might actually notice Echidna in the high school uniform, twirling and spinning in it like a child with the biggest grin playing across her lips. ]

[ Unfortunately, due to her abilities, Echidna knows which of these icy treats are good and which ones are bad. However, she's fairly certain that other people might not know.

She's accumulated a lot of Starling in the background these last couple of months, so she's opted to wear something a little fancier than usual while sitting at a table with a small rotating device in the center that she's conjured up. ]

[ It's an assortment of all the different kinds of ice cream. Of course, she knows which ones are cursed and which ones aren't, but she isn't going to say that. Besides, it might be fun to actually experience the curse.

Not to mention that she doesn't think that these 'curses' are notoriously bad, given these particular spirits. ]

(I) Cleaning the Train

[If someone needs help, then Dimitri is obligated to help them. That's how he sees things as a kami anyway and it's especially how he feels after the mess with MirrorMe. But cleaning? That might be taking it too far.

His cloak is folded up and set on one of the moth bitten coach chairs and his long hair is tied back in a ponytail, bangs clipped out of the way with bobby pins. All so that Dimitri can try to scrub some built up mud and dirt off of the floors with a large broom. His power lets him move the water along the floor, occasionally filtering it clean and, despite his slight body type, Dimitri isn't having much trouble with the physical labor either.

But he is still gonna be a bitch about it.]

(II) Cursed Ice Cream : The Parfait

[Dimitri wanted to sit down, read a book, and enjoy a dessert. A parfait was a good choice for that, right? He had no shame in being seen eating something so 'girly,' so long as it tasted good.

And look where that got him: Stuck to a chair. A kami tricked by spirits into a little friend making scheme. He tries to pretend that it doesn't bother him and continues eating the parfait while reading-- and is then given a second cursed parfait. And a third. Until he's literally feeling sick from his stubbornness.

He's also finished his book.

Dimitri groans in annoyance and lowers his head on the table.]

(III) Cursed Ice Cream : Iced Lemonade

[So if ice cream isn't safe, maybe cold drinks are fine? Wrong. It's only been a few days since the parfaits trolled him and now he's getting dunked on by lemonade. Dimitri gets a sweet lemonade too. It puts him in a good mood for now, but that promises to crash later.

At least in the moment, Dimitri finishes the drink and smiles. A very rare occurrence for him. Normally he'd retreat to one of the shrines as soon as possible, but today is different. In too good of a mood to go home right away, Dimitri takes a detour to a bookshop. He even engages with a stranger while smiling.]

I. Making A List

[Atsushi can't turn out a request for help! Even if the little Conductor kami is kind of rude... In a way, she's charming??? is a word that also means 'forgivingly annoying?' He's trying to think nice thoughts, okay?

He's also doing his best to assist with the train. To start, Atsushi walks around the train with a notepad and makes a list of everything that might need fixing or cleaning before the train is ready to go.

It's a lot.]

[He looks at the list and groans,]

III. Cursed Ice Cream : Bad Luck

[When Atsushi finishes a popsicle and sees 'bad luck' on the stick, he doesn't think much of it. That sort of thing isn't real, after all! It's just a childish game.

But then his walk back to ADA involves a bucket of water falling on his head, sprinklers turning on and soaking him again, and a glitter bomb when he checks ADA's mailbox. He's now a wet and sparkly cat, standing in front of the mailbox with a tired look on his face.]

[He sighs,]

[So if you don't find him standing in front of the mailbox then you might instead find Atsushi sitting on a nearby bench and waiting to dry off.]

[Oda's second official job as a detective: cleaning this train. It's not that different from the work that he used to do in the Port Mafia, actually - the dirty work that no one else wants.

You can find Oda with his sleeves rolled up oiling the wheels, or pulling out weeds with a fine layer of dirt over his clothes, or generally any situation that makes you think 'wow, I wouldn't want that job'. If you speak to him, he'll pause for a moment to answer you.]

Work's going well.

...Do you think there's an age limit on enrollment?

[This question comes from nowhere while Oda looks out over the school's job faire.]

[ When she hears about the fair, Mafuyu opts to go. Of course, she's playing up the 'good girl' act, so she makes sure that she's dressed up nicely -- nothing too overly formal, simple black and white colors but also fashionable enough that she doesn't look like a slob.

And while of course she's looking into the school enrollment and has plans on becoming a student there to keep some steady routine, she's also rather interested in the actual jobs there, too.

People might notice that she's looking into some hospital mentoring programs; even if it is more of something that 'she' wants, she can't help it. After all those long years spending time on trying to become a doctor, it isn't just simply a natural escape.

Even with the natural assurance that perhaps she'd be able to pursue music--something that she actually likes--with her friends beside her, there's an uncertainty that still haunts her, claws clutching at her heart.

...at the very least, she should check out the program.

But people might also see her lingering a little longer at any music-related job booths. Music labels do exist here too, huh. And while there's a part of her that wonders if she could get a job working for music, especially as it's no secret here that she's a part of a music group... there's still an uncertainty of choice here.

Maybe she should look at other options, too. It isn't as if she needs to decide now.

Of course, her indecision causes Mafuyu to end up carrying a bunch of papers from various fields that aren't even the two 'interests' that she has. Not to mention that she's definitely signed up for a couple of mentorships to see what it's actually like being a part of that sort of job.

If you're working a booth, you might have hear her asking questions; simple things like "what's your job like?" and "do you enjoy working at this location", so on and so forth. But if you're not working a booth and she happens to run into you, she'll smile, pleasant, and ask if you've decided on anything in particular, or if you plan on enrolling into the local school. ]

option ii; wonderment amusement park

[ The worst thing about being Asahina Mafuyu: don't make her actually try to choose things -- she goes with whatever she's given when it comes to swimsuits, and in this particular case, it seems to be a black bikini that accentuates her assets quite well.

And given everything that's happened last month...

...having fun is probably what she should be doing, right?

But then again, what is fun, anyway? She... doesn't know. So if she sees a familiar face she'll smile, and ask: ]

[ Mafuyu... ends up taking way too much of the offered goods that she's basically overloaded with them.

She doesn't even know where to start with any of these, especially when you keep in mind that she can't actually taste any of it.

Maybe you'll see Mafuyu eating a parfait. Then two. By the time she hits three, she doesn't really want to be here, but she's stuck and there's a clear annoyance that flickers in her eyes... until she sees another person, then she's absolutely pleasant as she raises her hand, trying to call them out and ask for help.

Or perhaps you'll see her eating ice cream, where she winds up with cat ears and a tail, or perhaps maybe you encounter her looking several centimeters taller. (Or both!)

Or perhaps you'll even catch her drinking the iced lemonade, to which her mood immediately picks up--it's a strange feeling, one that she has no experience in, but certainly nothing could possibly go wrong here, right? ]

I. (Feelings Suck; Locked to friends and limited request)
[ Ceto's been flocked by people every time he steps outside lately. He doesn't really mind all the gratitude and gifts he's been given since it means less things he'd have to buy for himself and more starling for Mimi. Still, given his lousy mood as of late all the acting like he's fine has really worn on him. By this point it's been a few days since anyone has seen him outside his house, which for him is very strange. Even stranger, he hasn't been answering any attempts at contact through Starnet either, leaving only going to his house. Mimi will only let in those Ceto has mentioned before or that he knows personally, however.

Assuming they're let into the house, they'll find it mildly messy from his various projects, with clothing pieces in various states of almost finished set up around the living room. His bedroom is ajar and he's laying on his bed as though he'd crumpled over while writing in his journal. Mimi seemed to have adjusted him into something a little more comfortable, but he wasn't responding to anything...

"He told me not to worry." Mimi explains, assuming the one who arrives can hear him, landing on the bed and crawling between his Sacred Child's arms "He said he'll wake up soon, but I'm still a little worried." If they can't hear him, though, the flying rabbit then pats the journal with a paw as though that is an explanation. The journal has "Ceto Dealtry" written on the cover as well as a small "Volume 3" underneath. The only other identifying attribute on the book is a stylized capital A in the bottom corner of the cover. ]

II. (Chores and Trains)
[ Ceto has never been built for hard work, even when he tried. At least once he's tried helping with all the aspects of cleaning this train. Most of them he was simply too small or weak to really manage to do on his own and others he tuckered out after maybe an hour of working on it. That's how he ended up outside, painting on the already cleaned and repaired portions of the metal. He was mildly embarrassed that this and painting the interior were all he could really do well for long enough for it to mean anything, but at least he was helping at all.

After a few hours of painting away at the shell of the train, he wandered away and returned with lunch for the others, complete with plenty of water since... well it was summer- it was very hot out there. ]

Hey! Break time, You guys look exhausted.

III. (School Fair)
[ School has always been hit or miss with Ceto, if only because in his original world, he actually managed to skip a grade or two and was often teased because he was younger. Still, seeing how fun the clubs had been in the dream at least gave him hope of that part of school maybe being fun, even if he knew Kokichi and Yuuto wouldn't be in the school this time around. Dimitri might be still, and Rui as well. He could make friends his age for once, and maybe he'd have better luck here compared to his own world? ]

Is there a policy on bullying? It was a huge problem at the last school I went to, and no one did anything about it.

[ He asks this to one of the more official looking people he can find, but he's not exactly keeping his voice down. He has his arms crossed and he looks rather serious for a 16 year old facing an adult. Surprise surprise, he doesn't much respect adults in authority positions without proven reason. Anyone's free to approach him, but he may not be in a great mood! ]

IV. (Water park)
[ Usually when people meet him, they assume he wouldn't like water because it would mess up his hair, but they couldn't be more wrong. He'd been raised in a beachside town so it was one of his few escapes as a child. Ceto was very at home in the water, and if anything being wet made his curls more apparent, so he didn't much mind it. Currently Ceto was sitting in the lazy river on a cyan and yellow starry donut floaty wearing cute pink swim trunks and a matching crop top. Mimi was lazing on his chest, helping translate what the spirits gathered around him were saying as they floated along. It was nice to be able to carry conversations with them now at least. ]

Is that right? He always seems so irritated with other people, but I can't say I'm surprised.

[ People won't be able to hear what the spirits are saying of course, but they're free to approach Ceto if they want to, he's just relaxing. ]

V. (Cursed Ice cream)
[ He really should have known better than to trust free ice cream, but now here he was with a pair of cat ears on his head, both pinned back in a mixture of embarrassment and irritation as well as a big fluffy tail with a bow tied at the base. He didn't look bad with them by any means, but that didn't make it any less mortifying to be left with physical proof that the spirits pranked him good. Even Mimi was giggling at him ]

Yeah, yeah, laugh it up buddy. You're playing dress up when we get home.

[ It wasn't even really that much of a threat since Mimi didn't much care about dress up, but it got the idea across. ]

i. [thomas the tank engine theme plays]

[ After the disaster that was last month, Kaito was eager for another outlet to prove his worth. Cleaning a train might not be the most heroic avenue for that, but it was certainly a start, and it included something he considered himself pretty good at.

He can be found in any one of the train cars during the first half of the month, wearing a pair of gardening gloves and weeding with precise hands. He's making pretty good time, and he figures he's generating a decent amount of faith in the mean time, as well. ]

ii. [six flag theme plays]

[ When he's not helping to clean the train, Kaito can be found at Wonderment Water Park, celebrating their victory late into July and cooling off from the summer sun. He's clad in a pair of galaxy print swim trunks, a fashion choice that should be surprising to nobody. What's even less surprising is the toys he's got on rent from the park. ]

Surrender now, evil-doer! You're no match for me!

[ He's got a water gun in one hand, and an even larger one strapped to his back - more akin to a water cannon. He's willing to challenge any park-goer to battle, so long as they seem worthy. ]

iii. [ice cream truck noises]

[ Kaito's luck has never been the best, but still he decides to test it again when he takes a popsicle from one of the locals. He's heard tale of the spirit magic associated with their fortunes, and he's hoping he can win big.

But of course, when he finally finishes the treat... ]

"Bad luck?!" You've gotta be kidding me...

I. (Train Cleaning)
[ Being as vertically challenged as he is does somewhat limit what he's capable of doing to help, but he's surprisingly handy. Instead of candy cigarettes, he's got a few spare screws held between his lips as he works on replacing any of the rotting and dilapidated wooden fixtures inside the train. Not exactly what people might expect out of the Ultimate Tennis Pro, but as an older brother he had at least cursory knowledge of a lot of things-- he was always pretty insistent on being independent so skills like basic woodworking seemed par for the course if anything went wrong with the house down the line... Too bad he'd never gotten that far, but it was useful now at least. ]

Alright. That's this car finished. Let me know if you need anything, I'm heading into the next one, okay?

II. (Waterpark)
[ This had not been his idea and he very much did not want to come here, but he couldn't really object when the rest of his housemates wanted to go, so he donned his swim trunks and went with them. While they ran around playing in the water, he followed along on the side of the pool slowly, not intending on getting in, but close enough to talk to if desired. At least for a while. Once he felt they'd been distracted enough, he backed away from the edge of the water.

It's not that he didn't want to have fun with them- he could swim just fine- but he had no interest whatsoever in getting in the water right now. Some things are harder to shake than others, and given his recent reminder, his fear of drowning was higher than normal.

He picked a table somewhere a good distance from the water and sighed as he sat down, casting a glance over at where he'd left his group just to make sure they hadn't noticed him leave before he crossed his arms on the table and rested his head on top of them. ]

Some big brother you are... ugh.

III. (Cursed Ice cream)
This is extremely not cool.

[ Yeah, Ryoma got hit by the mischievous spirits as well. He had the misfortune of selecting a freezie pop so now he was sitting at his table tugging his beanie down over his eyes because his head hurt that badly.

Some of the spirits were surrounding him in concern, but there seemed to be nothing they could do about the pain he was in. It wasn't until he heard someone sit beside him that he bothered to lift his head from the table and peek out from under his beanie ]

Yeah, what's up?

I. (Train Cleaning)
[ Naturally given both his status as an ADA member, he's taken it upon himself to be very involved in fixing up the train. His ability made many aspects of it very simple- any heavy lifting was accomplished easily, he could hold things up and affix them easily using Rashomon as extra limbs

This does unfortunately mean that he is overexerting himself and a few hours in he begins coughing. Thanks to his medicine it doesn't hurt as bad but that doesn't mean it isn't bad for him to do. As focused as he is on being useful though, he ignores his body's complaints and continues working, the coughing only getting more and more frequent... ]

II. (Cursed Ice cream)
[ Akutagawa doesn't allow himself to indulge in things that would upset his condition very often, which included cold things like ice cream. So of course the first time he allows himself to have some in years... it curses him. Twice in a row. The first time was earlier when he'd had some plain ice cream and ended up with pointed canine ears and a curved tail, and now he'd sat down with a parfait that he hadn't even bought for himself and suddenly could not get up. ]

I think I change my mind. I no longer like it here.

[ Can he take his boyfriend and leave? he wants to waste away in shame. So he just quietly seethes at the table, ears pinned back and trying not to act more like a dog than he already looked. ]

i. arrival

[ It all happens so fast. She's flying through the air, thrown back against her will, through the vines she'd summoned, through the portal -

But when she opens her eyes, she doesn't find herself in Connecticut. And she doesn't find herself with her friends. Instead, she's in the middle of an unfamiliar city, all by her lonesome. But not for long. As if things weren't already overwhelming enough, she soon finds herself swarmed by people, asking questions, fawning over her, some even attempting to shove gifts at her.

It's... a far cry from her arrival in the Boiling Isles, that's for sure. But despite the warm welcome, it's the last place she wants to be. She shoves her way through the crowd, searching wildly through all the unfamiliar faces - ]

King?! KING!

[ Once she makes it through the throng of people, she desperately looks left and right, her eyes already welling up with tears. ]

Amity?! Willow? Gus? Hunter?

[ Without any of them to respond, she collapses to her knees, holding her head in her hands. ]

No... no, no, no no no!

ii. sir topham hatt is a lich don't ask me how i know

[ Without a way back home - or really, back to the Boiling Isles - it doesn't take long for Luz to start searching for a new sense of purpose. And that quickly leads her to the broken down train. Doing good deeds is as good a start as any, isn't it? If she can't help save the world she loves, she can at least get started on helping a new one.

She quickly discovered glyphs didn't work in the city of Starsand, which made sense, if they were connected to the magic of the Titan. But Starsand was full of plenty of other magic - a whole new system to learn! Until she could return to somewhere familiar, she was going to try and make the best of things.

So she's running around the train cars, broom in hand, whacking any cobwebs she can find. ]

Back! Back, I say! I will not be defeated by simple dust bunnies!

[ She's... certainly approaching it with enthusiasm. ]

iii. school blues

[ Normally, a magic job fair would have Luz at her most excited. She'd be running around, checking out all the booths, trying out every company's uniform, even if she was too young to reasonably work for any of them. But right now, all it does is bring back memories of Hexside. She walks slowly from stall to stall, a melancholy look in her eyes.

Unfortunately, she's not paying much attention to her surroundings, so it doesn't take her long to walk straight into someone. ]

Oh, sorry! Guess I wasn't watching where I was going... Hey, you wouldn't happen to know if there's any good booths to learn about spirit magic, would you?

iv. om nom nom nom nom

[ If there was one thing that was going to make her feel better during this trying time, it was ice cream. At least, that's what she thought. But now she's glued to her seat with a parfait on the table, the worlds "SHARE ME" written on a cookie sitting on top of the treat.

Still, she seems to be putting in a noble effort to pry herself off. ]

URRRRRRRRGGGGHH! ...RRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!

[ No such luck. No amount of angry wiggling or action anime screaming is gonna get her out of this one. ]

[Kokoro has a lot on her mind. She can be found going around the residential district trying to clear her head, which might work, except that locals keep distracting her by giving her things and talking about the latest buzz on Fallen Stars. So you'll find her with arms full of candy, sunscreen... somebody thought soap was a good gift... and sighing to herself.]

I certainly don't feel like a miracle worker, do you?

[Cross-print bikini: check. Sunscreen: check. Pool raft: check, although it's a standard-issue Wonderment one instead of something aligning with her very specific aesthetic. Kokoro might float past you in the lazy river without even noticing... apparently, something's got her brooding today. Maybe you should bother her. Or at least find her a very easy target for water gun attacks.]

[job fair]

[Kokoro is going around the entire job fair, asking questions and taking pamphlets. Engineering. Tour guiding. Construction. Library work. Driving the city garbage truck. The stack might grow taller than she is at this rate, but...]

Pray tell, how do people even find what they want to do when they have the chance?

[ Inaba was the kind of person who was good at keeping her stuff clean, but dealing with all of this is...

She can't help but sigh a little bit as she watches people clear it out. ]

[ But since she's trying to save her energy for the parts that matter the most for her, she decides to keep an eye on the heavy lifters before eventually approaching them. ]

[ That's important! Alternatively, people can find Inaba trying to take a careful look at the mechanics of the train, making sure which parts need to be looked at and fixed. ]

[ Inaba frowns deeply, looking rather conflicted. It's not her fault that the Foundation took her while she was fifteen and now she's nineteen and mostly self taught. ]

[ She mulls it over and then tries to find another person, who she ends up asking-- ]

[ She is. She totally is! But she's trying to curb her enthusiasm lest she get disappointed. ]

[ Inaba can be found at one point at one of the tables outside absolutely groaning in pain.

Why?

The answer can be found next to her: a parfait and some spirits hovering--but still keeping their distance so they don't get nullified--nearby, just bouncing up and down as if concerned over the girl who definitely does not seem to be alright. ]

Job Fair

[The idea of getting to go to school with friends the same age as him is something Noe always wished for. He liked learning under Teacher, but he wonders what it would be like to get to make memories with everyone and study together the way they would at school.

But he's missed the mark on that, and he has other concerns anyway--]

I should probably get a job so I can keep buying souvenirs.

[Although he has Starling, he's holding a decently sized pile of things he has found in his arms ~~for his friends~~. He puts it down so he can start trying on the different job uniforms, gasping in excitement at even the most mundane ones.]

I didn't know you could fight fire. Do you punch it?

Water Park

[Of course Noe takes the opportunity to visit the water park at some point. He can be found in lavender swim trunks eagerly trying out the slides and just enjoying the water in general.

Unfortunately, he gets so excited he might end up splashing someone else. As soon as he notices he flushes with embarrassment.]

Parfait (Closed to Vanitas)

[For someone with a delicious treat, Noe looks very dejected. He learned a few minutes ago after trying to stand up because he saw something new that caught his interest that he couldn't leave the table. He read the spirits' message, but he would feel terrible asking anyone to potentially end up stuck here with him.

So he just eats it slowly, trying to avoid looking anyone in the eye. If he does, he may cave and ask someone to help him eat it with him!]

Job Fair

[Despite his intimidating reputation, Elliot was always a good student. He did well during all his studies, and even though he had a tendency to get distracted and even though there were times he disliked it, he took them seriously.

But he has a problem. Now that he lives in the future, rather than ahead of his peers he's behind in a lot of subjects. He's managed to figure out some of it, but...

Is it really worth it? It's not like he wants to be a doctor or engineer. He's at the fair with an intense expression, his hands placed on his hips.]

It's weird.

[The idea of going to school, doing something so ordinary, is weird to him. So he'll check out the other stalls in the meantime, thinking aloud.]

Is teaching music an option?

Tch...this sucks.

[He groans, holding his face in his hands to try and stave off the brainfreeze in vain after trying a freezie pop. It's useless, it's already been five minutes like this, but he doesn't want to leave or do anything that requires effort when his head is already hurting.

[Alice has never gone to a waterpark before, and she's standing there in a red and black polka-dotted swimsuit, looking at a water gun before she accidentally pulls the trigger...and splashes herself in the face. She looks like a foul-tempered cat for a minute...before lifting the water gun to her mouth and biting it.

She's frustrated. And now she's just walking around like that. Chew. Chew.]

[If there's one thing Kanade's learning in this new world, it's that her decision to stay home as often as she can is a good one. Things just... happen here so much. After her arrival, the disappearances, and the push to save the amusement park, she thought there'd be some kind of downtime. Some calm, quiet atmosphere to ride out the rest of summer in. They all deserved it, right?

... And, well. It could be worse, probably. But she also wasn't prepared for the more benign sort of strangeness that happens in this world - namely, the fact that she seems to have sprouted a pair of white rabbit ears from her head after she bit into an ice cream she picked up on the way back from stocking up on some snacks.]

(01) Train "Cleaning"

[Leo won't pretend that he's going to be very helpful in cleaning the train. Not in the same way that the stronger members of the team are able. But he can find ways to use his little strength efficiently. He's sitting on the floor of the train with a book about plants and mold, trying to identify if there is anything dangerous that they need to be aware of while they clean. Leo's already marked a few plants that might give rashes by tying red warning ribbons around them and is in the process of identifying a new one when a thought slips out:]

(02) A Future with Employment

[The job fair catches Leo's eye for a multitude of reasons. For one, he's interested in applying for school come September. He'd like to bring adequate information back to Elliot, so they can study and get caught up... But he's also browsing the employment opportunities. Living here forever is still an appealing fantasy and he quite enjoys the act of imagining his and Elliot's life here. As he walks between job stalls, Leo is quietly cultivating his imagination.

But he pauses at a stall that advertises the life of a professional author. This is the first time that he picks up a brochure and reads it with a serious expression.]

This pains me to write, but as I am having trouble with the sample exam booklet from the job fair. It appears that being from 200 years in the past can really hamper your ability to test well at school.

Are any of you modern folk able to point me towards the topics that I need to study? I highly dislike the idea of being tutored, but alas. I've only a month to catch up with the class material
