starsand reset tdm
ANOTHER RESET?
... And then you were home.
Suddenly, the characters who had once been isekai'ed to Starsand City awaken in their old lives. The time and place are just as they remember and it's as if nothing ever happened. In fact, it's quite easy for the memories of Starsand to become blurred and difficult to recall. Characters may not even spend a second wondering how they went from celebrating New Years Eve to their old lives. But their scars from Starsand remain, even if faintly; Think too hard about it, and you may even feel the tingle of power leftover from the Facility's experiments. As soon as it's out of mind, however, the feeling evaporates. Maybe it really was a strange dream.
Speaking of dreams.
One night, after a certain amount of time- which is different per character,- their dreams are thrown into a familiar darkness. Characters new and old, actually, awaken in a space of endless darkness with a liquid-like 'floor' rippling under foot. Unlike last time, dark strings weave through the air and make it difficult to move. But, just as before, the only source of light comes from themselves... and a stranger. A stranger who begs them to come back to the world that they have almost forgotten and help save it. If they agree to help, characters will awaken with a red key in their hand. When they use it on a door, that door becomes a one-way ticket to Starsand City. By choice this time, they can return to the world they had escaped and help the people they left behind.

NEW ARRIVALS, NEW FLAVOR PROMPT
The Facility must be up to their usual shenanigans, because not everyone arriving in Starsand City is a returning visitor. Brand New Arrivals are also able to appear in the city. They will also have the opportunity for the same vision as returning characters, but there's a difference to their arrival. Instead of receiving a key and the option to come help the people of Starsand, they'll begin sinking into the dark liquid under their feet. It's Rumor Goo- Hot to touch, tastes like chili peppers if it gets in your mouth, and is all around unpleasant.
Once they've completely sunken into the goo, they'll awaken in the city like everyone else. But unlike returning characters, brand new arrivals now have a dark splotch somewhere on their skin. It's like a tattoo ink blot and it's general small and easy to cover. But it's there and it's not going away. For the first few minutes after arriving, this mark will burn like they've touched a hot stove.
A CHANGED CITY
Regardless of how they arrive, characters all end up in the city. For those who used a door, they step out of the top door of the Spacetime Shrine. The once clear and glassy stairs have now turned dark and resemble Rumor Goo. The entire atmosphere of the shrine is much darker and its eerily quiet. The door that they came out of is made of a dark prismatic crystal and has no doorknob to open it with. At the very bottom is the familiar doorframe of the old Spacetime Shrine, made of glistening and clear crystal. But that's probably the last truly familiar thing that they'll find.
When they exit the shrine, they no longer find themselves in an empty park clearing. Instead, they are inside of a giant white marble cathedral. And once that door closes, they won't be able to open it again.
The interior is bustling with civilians, who all leave offerings at the feet of a statue in the center of the building. The people look the arrivals with awe; Unlike before, they've never seen someone from another world and don't know what to do about the newly arriving Fallen Stars. They'll likely point characters to either visit The Shrine of Love, The Shrine of Curiosity, or to bring back an offering to where they are- The Shrine of Spacetime. They'll point out the statue to further explain: It shows a giant dragon, made of the same prismatic material as the door, being vanquished by a familiar girl. She is apparently the Spacetime Kami, and she is one of the most highly regarded kami in the city.
Once characters leave the shrine, they'll find themselves in a very different situation to before. No one is offering them free housing, no one is kindly giving them free food or necessities, and they're getting weird looks from anyone who saw them come out of the locked shrine door. What they do now is up to them.
Are you new-new? Like right out of the box? This prompt mostly applies to you too. But instead of walking out of the door, you wake up at the foot of the stairs at the bottom door.
EXPLORATION & CLUE HUNTING
Many things in the city have changed, so characters will have to do a lot of exploring!!! You can make an exploration request OVER HERE to get specific details about how locations have changed. Don't trust any pages, as they are still being rehauled as the tdm plays out. They'll be updated as exploration happens, so you can't use them for spoilers!
As a general rule of thumb, the following changes will be easily recognized by anyone returning to Starsand City:
- Whereas once the Kami of Love and Curiosity were considered the strongest, now the Spacetime Kami is highly regarded. The Spacetime Shrine has been hugely upgraded to reflect this. No one remembers it being a singular doorframe.
- There are fewer visible spirits than before, but the ones who are visible have more defined forms. Meaning there are less glowing wisps and more glowing animals!
- Characters who had housing spirits can locate their spirit, but the spirit cannot recreate their old homes right now. They have, however, saved the characters' items from the previous timeloop customs check-in.
- Characters who had spirit contracts or new spirit powers will retain these. Their spirits are waiting for them at the Spacetime Shrine door, like eager pets waiting for their human friends to come home. They seem to have sensed their friends' arrival and rushed over.
- Characters can gain Starling to make purchases by praying at shrines. This can be large kami shrines or the smaller spirit shrines found around the city.
- The elevator in the center of town does not go to the bottom floor anymore.
- The Rising Star Agency still exists, but former contracts do not. However, when approached, the staff will curiously schedule an agent interview for the following month while noting "You look so familiar and I don't know why."
- Wonderment Amusement Park is still there!
- The city layout is mostly the same. Some shops may be different, but the streets can be navigated as usual.
- It's April First and the cherry blossoms are in bloom and rebloom.

This opening can be treated as a TDM! You don't have to commit to the setting longterm. Feel free to test out the changed environment before committing.
However, as a new rule: You will only be able to play 3 new characters at a time. Any characters from 2022 and 2023 can come in and do not count towards this limit, providing that they have a Starsand CRAU. Please keep this in mind!

No, but seriously: there is a face in Starsand that may look very similar to some of you - because yes, she does in fact look and sound like a certain Raiden Mei - but there are distinct differences if you're looking closely enough.
Outside of being basically everywhere and lost to the point where if she sees your character she might ask the question of "where am I" to them, they might see her by one of the stores that sells fruit, staring specifically at the peaches with a glassy look in her eyes... but there seems to be something more there, too. ]
