【JULY - MIRRORME EVENT】
"MirrorMe's Castle Reflects Your Happiness!"
While MirrorMe's event will have a lot of similarities to last year's MirrorMe event, it won't be a total carbon copy. So please take a moment to review all of the information before signing up!
MirrorMe's Mirror Castle is located in the center of Wonderment Amusement Park and is one of the few attractions that stays the same every day of the month. During the day, the castle has a single floor and is simply a fun mirror maze. Fallen Stars may see a Reflection of themselves, who taunts them and tries to drive them out of the maze; They whisper of their failures, shortcomings, and then tell them to come back at midnight. Those who do arrive at midnight will find a staircase at the end of the mirror maze, which leads to another floor. A warning states: "At the end of 24 hours is the dawn of a new day."
Every floor of MirrorMe's Maze will be a dungeon dedicated to a single Fallen Star. When you sign-up for the event, you will be assigned a number 1-23, which corresponds with which floor number your character is assigned. They will feel compelled to reach their floor, like there is a psychic pull calling them up to the next level. But there's a problem: Only one floor can be cleared each day and floors can only be cleared by defeating their final boss.
This event will rely on a mix of player and mod teamwork. The mods will write up a suggested summary for your floor's layout and boss, based on the information that you provide in the sign-ups. Players are also encouraged to play their floor's final boss or to handwave the final encounter; Mods will not be able to play many floor bosses. Once a character's floor is cleared, it will have a special appearance on every day afterward. Berri will be updating this section of the event with a description of the cleared floors.
It is assumed that one floor will be cleared every day from July 1st to 23rd, so your characters' floor number is also the date it is cleared by. You can future or back date floors as needed. The 24th floor is reserved for a final boss encounter. Any missing floors will be filled by NPCs.
This section of the event has a chance for characters to, once again, develop some kami powers... and this time, depending on how floors are cleared, some of the powers might stick! Powers are more likely to last if the character reaches some sort of breakthrough when clearing their floor. So please keep that in mind when signing up and playing out your floors. does this seem similar to persona? it should. you should think about that.
To sign-up, please go over here.
Inner Darkness: Think of what your character considers 'dark' about themselves, not necessarily what is morally repulsive to other people. Their Inner Darkness is something that they themselves struggle to accept. The final boss of their floor, called a 'Reflection,' will reflect this back to them and try to break the character emotionally. The Reflections also have the same abilities as their original, which comes with an ability to predict their original's moves and gain advantage in battle.
Battles: Battles can be resolved with combat, talking, self-acceptance, or a combination. You're free to end the fight however you want. Mods will not play Reflections for player characters due to how personal they are.
Floor Dungeons: The floor dungeons will reflect the characters' fears, doubts, and past. Mods will write a suggested floor description, but the players are encouraged to modify these to suit the characters better.
If your characters' battle resolves in a way that meets plot requirements for keeping powers, then you will get a mod comment! Powers will be incredibly mild at this moment. It is worth noting, as a hint, that the power will come from within. Your character will need to make an emotional breakthrough with themselves and face their inner darkness in order for the powers to stick!
Please sign-up over here!

All that can be heard is the same notes of the piano, playing the same song- it's all wrong and then it hits the last note, soft at first before it's plucked again. Louder, and louder and louder- incessantly before the song changes gears.
Given that Kanade herself is familiar with the song, she'll notice it easily: it's being played at a slightly faster, more hurried pace, almost as if desperate.
And she'll see the clearing, a light in the dark grove of apple trees.
Buildings can be seen in the distance, but it's difficult to tell what they are at an immediate glance. ]

Her music says so much more than Mafuyu ever could, so as that distorted echo of Jackpot Sad Girl plays on, Kanade's heart seems to stagger along in time with it. Mafuyu's in danger, she needs help NOW...]
Mafuyu... I know you're here somewhere...
[Even if she can't see her, Kanade won't keep quiet. She'll keep calling out to Mafuyu as many times as it takes to find her. And until then, she'll keep moving - first through the clearing, in the direction of the buildings.]

It's all off.
The crossing itself is just a backdrop, painted on a screen. Even the people are just simply props that move- and while it may look like they're talking, it's all incomprehensible buzz.
And the colors of the crossing are all hollowed out, grey buildings and grey skies; Kanade herself is the only one here that has any semblance of color in the street crossing.
There only seems to be one hallway onwards.
The music shifts again, playing a rather disorienting iteration of... well, it's not one of their songs, but a cover that has resonated with Mafuyu.
Aishite Aishite Aishite.
But now, the music isn't simply the sound of piano keys-
Mafuyu's own voice can be heard, singing the tune. There's something anguished about the way she sings, emotion that cracks with each desperate aishite - love me. ]

... Strings...
Kanade's teeth clench as that burning, acidic feeling in her gut bubbles up again. Her hands curl into fists, blunt nails digging into her palm. Her pace quickens as she continues onward, following Mafuyu's voice.
As she does, she keeps a look out for something, anything - anything in this world that isn't flat and flimsy like a stage prop. Something that could be sharp, so that she might be able to cut through anything holding either of them back.]

The incessant buzzing of voices seems to drown out, replaced with actual voices- none of them recognizable, but at least they can be heard. ]
"It's too bad Asahina-san can't come with us..."
"She's always so busy, you know? I guess that's what it means to be a honor student."
"She's such a good girl, too. She wants to become a doctor... isn't that kind of amazing?"
"Yeah. She's basically the perfect student: gorgeous, kind, smart, even athletic. Is there anything Asahina-san can't do? No wonder so many people look up to her and want to be like her!"
no subject
She's much more than that... [There's more to see from someone who isn't perfect. It's what makes seeing Mafuyu take slow steps forward all the more powerful.] Please, see her as just Mafuyu. Not some... thing...
[She doesn't expect any of the voices to answer her, so she keeps on moving. She's not sure where to go next, but - ah, if she's going to look for something that can help her, then perhaps...]
... An art room, maybe...
[Right. There should be tools there that could help, right? Scissors, or clay knives. She doesn't need anything too complicated, just something sharp enough. So she moves through the school, scanning the signs above all the rooms - all while keeping her ear tilted towards the source of the music, trying to pinpoint the source's location as she explores.]

All the students immediately turn to face Kanade, their blank faces boring into her.
Even as she continues moving, the girls speak up once again in stage whispers, audible enough for her to hear.
And now, they're no longer talking about Mafuyu, but- ]
"Is that her?"
"I think so. They've been calling her the 'savior', Asahina-san's prince."
"But can music really save anybody?"
"I don't know..."
[ And the music starts up again, this time to another song, Phony, as it repeats the chorus over and over as if it were stuck on loop, trying to insist that the singer, that Mafuyu- she's the phony here.
The voice seems to sound like it's very close, just down the hallway and rounding the first door. ]

too many people, not-eyes looking at her, being in public like this always made her nervous-
But then she hears the song shift, and how close Mafuyu's voice is. So she grits her teeth and steps forward, blue eyes taking on an icy hue as she glares at the girls gathered in the hallway as she closes in on the room the music is coming from.]
I will save her. If my next song can't, I'll try again. Again and again and again... I won't stop until she's saved. And nothing will be able to stop me.

[ The voice of the girls shifts - that isn't an indistinguishable voice anymore. That voice is also Mafuyu's, now. ]

[Mafuyu once said "thank you for finding me". Kanade will fight tooth and nail, with what little strength she has, to find Mafuyu again and again. To help her find herself. She'll never stop.
Gripping the clay knife in one hand, she braces herself before reaching out to the door's handle and sliding it open.]

But then after the end of the last words, she stops, but doesn't look in Kanade's direction.
The outfit that Mafuyu is wearing here is that of Snow White, vines attached to her limbs.
On the chalkboard, there are many equations scattered about but in the center of it all is a series of messages that stand out, scrawled out in a hand that almost looks like claw marks.
If you truly wish to do something, Mafuyu, you're free to do it... just don't regret your decision, okay?
That means you don't need this synthesizer anymore, right?
And right in front of those messages is in fact, a synthesizer, but it's in shambles. It's still trying to play the notes of the song, but they're all off key. ]

Back then, she couldn't do anything. But now - now she can walk straight up to the chalkboard, using the sleeve of her jersey to swipe and smear the words. Her movements are harsh, and she almost slaps her hand against the board as she erases "just don't regret your decision". She wants to erase it all, to destroy every one of those words that are hurting Mafuyu so much...
But no. That's not her priority. Mafuyu is. Kanade lets out a slow breath, reigning in her anger, before turning away from the jumbled mess of words still remaining. Her focus moves back to Mafuyu, as it should be. She stops in front of her desk, putting herself between Mafuyu and everything on the board, and sets the clay knife aside as she reaches out to her.]
I'm sorry... I should have come to you first. [There's no need to ask if she's okay. Kanade knows she can't be.] Come on... we can find a way out of here now.
1 / 2
[ Her voice is hollow.
But then she looks at the other girl and when their eyes meet, Kanade will easily notice it- her eyes are a bright golden color. ]

Her expression becomes one of a good girl as she smiles, pristine. But what's noticeable is that this act is done with the slight movements of the 'strings' - the vines attached to her body.
And her tone becomes polite as can be. ]
No, there's no need to apologize. I don't plan on leaving.
no subject
Kanade kind of hates it.]
Wha... what do you mean? [Those eyes... this can't be the real Mafuyu, can she?] Why not?
no subject
[ She stands up from her seat as the sound of a school chime rings. ]
"Now, if you'll excuse me."
no subject
[She reaches out to grab Mafuyu's wrist - gently, so that she can pull away if she wanted to, but firm enough that Mafuyu can feel it.]
I... I won't make you go anywhere. I can't do that to you. But... that puppetmaster [There's almost a tinge of venom in Kanade's voice at that word. It's definitely the harshest tone Mafuyu's ever heard her voice take.] isn't here. Those strings can't control you.
no subject
[ The Reflection's voice is breathless as she smacks Kanade's hand away with clear frustration. ]
"She's not... she's just..."
[ Unable to handle it, the Reflection just starts to run, heading right out the door. ]
no subject
She... she hurt Mafuyu... how terrible she is...]
W-Wait...
[Her voice is small, losing so much of that edge and determination that had filled it on her journey through the school. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry...
... No. What is she doing? She can't just keep kicking herself like this - it's fine if Mafuyu hates her for it, but she still can't just leave her like this.]
Mafuyu, wait-!
[Even as her heart twists, Kanade takes off after her, dashing out into the hallway and following as fast as she can.]
no subject
There are still "students" lingering around, their empty faces staring at Kanade as they seem to echo the same sentiment: ]
"Look at what she did..."
"It's okay, Asahina-san is still the perfect honor student, she can just go back and return to that."
no subject
But it's hard, tuning the voices out now. She's already reeling from the guilt that cut through her heart, and the faceless students' words dig into the opening left behind.]
Just brushing off her feelings like that... [Her lungs are burning. She can barely talk. But she doesn't care. Her pain is nothing.] What I did was wrong... but that's outright cruel...
