[APRIL EVENT] ooc plotting / faq
IC Introduction
While asleep on the evening of April 29th, Fallen Stars dreamt of a door. For some, they may have a hazy recollection of a more fluid and incomplete dream of this door: It starts out plain, red, and freestanding in the middle of a inky dark space. Then, as they approach, it molds its shape: It looks like a door to home, whatever that may be for the character. For some characters, the dream may end right there: They never reach the door, or they do and they cannot open it. But for others, moving on their own in that dream-like state, they do reach the door. They open it, even if their minds are screaming at them not to, and they go inside.
For the characters who opened the door and passed through, they will awaken not in their bedrooms but in a small, isolated room that they do not recognize. Their bodies have vanished from their old rooms and reappeared here, still wearing their pajamas and bringing with them any items that may have been on their bed at the time. At the foot of the bed, there is a tightly folded pile of clothes and 3 comfort items from home (stay tuned for more information.) There is a bright red door ahead of them, locked tight with a stubborn digital lock, and no windows. Only the sound of a clock and the distant sound of footsteps... For characters who did not open the door in their dream, then congratulations! You've woken up in your beds! But you've also been woken up by spirits. They are frantically buzzing around, flashing their lights brightly to get attention. The spirits are so desperate that they use all of their power to appear bright and make a ringing noise, then vanish and have to be replaced by another spirit. They are specifically harassing the Fallen Stars and trying to lead them to where their kidnapped friends once slept. When they reach the victims' houses, they will find a warm metal key on the ground somewhere with a pitch envelope. Its contained letter is written in starry white ink: "Come to the trial and witness the birth of a new kami."Thank you for your interest in Starsand's April Event! As previously stated in the mod announcement, this event will end with a TIMELOOP on May 1st. The timeloop will send characters back to May of 2022, where they will replay and hopefully change the events of the past year. There will be more details about the Timeloop as May approaches, but it will be an unavoidable part of the game. If timeloops are not your thing, then you are within your right to leave the game. Moving on to the event proper.
ICly, this entire event takes place on APRIL 30TH. OOCly, this event is split into two parts that will last until April 29th.
PART ONE is when kidnapped characters first wake ["The Facility Group"] and are discovered by those left in the city ["The City Group."] There will be no direct contact between the two groups during this part of the event. While the City Group is learning how to get to the Facility and planning their rescue, the Facility Group will be going through their trials. These trials will aim to pressure the candidates into developing kami powers. For simplicity's sake, this part of the event will be split into two separate logs. There will be one setting update on April 17th [Monday] where effects of the trials are felt in the city.
PART TWO of the event will start on APRIL 20th and run for the rest of the month. Trials will be hard stopped and receive no new mod replies (there will be an IC write-up explaining why.) This will be the portion of the event where the two groups mingle. A new log will go up to reflect this. There may be a mix of rescues, escaping, exploring, and kicking ass. Ultimately, this portion of the event will end with the Timeloop. Once the timeloop has happened, all plot threads will stop abruptly (due to the timeloop.) You can still do a bit of backdating, but nothing new will happen after OOCly after April 29th.
This event will largely focus on the kidnapped victims. There will be fewer NPC appearances.
