APRIL EVENT + MOD POST / state of sandbox

Thank you for your continued interest in Starsand! With the sandbox coming up on a year old, we are introducing a number of structure changes. The biggest changes being new pages and specifically a new taken list.. If you have a moment, please be sure to refresh your character claims on the new taken list. But not before reading this important plot announcement:
In May, Starsand will enter a TIMELOOP. It will go into effect on May 1st and be proceeded by April's plot event. The April Event will launch on the 15th, but ICly take place April 30th. This is a non-reversible plot point and will effect the entire setting. Please keep this in mind when choosing to refresh your character claims. This timeloop is happening in order to get the plot back on track and lower the amount of mod stress.
We're sure that you have many concerns. Feel free to ask questions.
Q: What will the TIMELOOP change?
The game setting and (most) NPCs will revert to how things were on May 1st, 2022. This means that some NPCs are being reset and their CR will be mostly forgotten. Civilians will not remember Rumors or any events from the past year. They will also be back to the original stance on Fallen Stars: Warm, friendly, and very worried about them. Fallen Stars, on the other hand, will remember the previous timeline and all of the information they've learned. They will be starting the new timeline with an advantage.
Q: Who is not affected by the TIMELOOP?
Fallen Stars, Distortions, and Kami or Spirits with Fallen Star contracts will retain all of their memories.
Q: What happens to my characters' Spirit Contracts?
Spirit Contracts will not be changed. Their power and abilities will remain the same. Spirits in contracts will also remember the previous timeline. You do not need to repost or reclaim your contracts. Having a previous spirit contract will be a helpful asset, so you are encouraged to make contract claims before the timeloop goes into effect. You may backdate a spirit contract as far as February 14th.
Q: What happens to any items/infinite pancakes my character acquired in the last year?
Characters will be able to keep anything on their person (small items,) and up to 5 larger items/blessings from the last year. There will be a chance to declare these at Timeloop Customs in May.
Q: What happens to my characters' house / business?
In accordance to the new housing and business sign-up process, these buildings are attached to spirit magic. As such, they will come with Fallen Stars in the timeloop. This does mean that their homes and businesses will suddenly materialize in the new timeline on May 1st and may be a shock to their neighbors. If you do not wish to keep your characters' old home or business, then it may be lost in the cracks.
Q: berri, the housing and business pages aren't ready.
These pages will be opened AFTER the event concludes. The timeloop will affect them slightly. In short, houses and businesses will be attached to minor spirit contracts. Think of the spirit as a guardian to the location and the building as their shrine. They will not be able to leave their building, but may eventually manifest physically within its premise. More details will come with the update.
Q: If the Timeloop is predetermined, then what is the point of the April Event?
The characters' actions during April's event will determine some minor details for the new timeline. We are announcing the timeloop now, so that you do not have to worry about accidentally ending the game. Your actions will have consequences, but they won't hurt, destroy, or kill any NPC or structure.
Q: What is April's Event?
We are about to have the long awaited KIDNAPPING EVENT. You've been so patient, Owl. Thanks.
On IC April 30th, select Fallen Stars will suddenly go missing overnight. They will awaken in the Facility and face a series of physical and mental trials. CWs will be considered when you sign-up for the event, so please do not neglect that particular section of the sign-up form!
The remaining Fallen Stars will be given 24 hours to find their missing friends and rescue them. But there will be a small catch: Rumors will be spreading around the city regarding the missing Fallen Stars. It's been proven that Rumors have a negative effect on kami and spirits, but what happens when they're spread about a Fallen Star?
Q: what does happen
Kidnapped Fallen Stars will have the option of going through a small Rumor Arc leading up to and during their rescue. This will cause them to behave in accordance to their Rumor, often showing darker sides of themselves or revealing secret feelings. They will also be able to manifest very minor kami powers: Emphasis on the minor, as this is the first time that this experiment is being performed ICly.
Q: Can we keep the kami powers after the event?
Not this time! But there will be IC consequences for characters who manifest kami powers.
Q: How many characters will be kidnapped?
There will be a maximum of 12 kidnapped Fallen Stars. Everyone may sign up 2 characters max. Please submit each character with a separate comment. Your first submitted character is guaranteed to be kidnapped, so long as you submit before April 13th. BUT second characters will not be approved until April 13th.
