If you're going to throw a party, having a variety of drinks and food should suffice. Most of the guests who show up probably don't care if you get every detail right and will be happy to spend time with you.

The only thing I'd suggest avoiding is no maids.

Ice breaker games are usually common at parties. I've played a variant of "truth or dare spin the bottle" before in the past which tends to be the most fun one, but there's probably others that you can come up with, too.
