[Tau brings all the chocolate she's made her family for Valentine's Day down. It's not the right day, but she didn't want to just leave them on the counter or something. She passes them out.]

I am sorry...I know...that this is early...But I wanted...to give them to you now...since I will not be around...on the 14th...

The Date

[Tau is early to the meet up spot with Tap. Like...Super early... She doesn't hang out with friends all that often, so she's actually really excited for this. She's dressed in layers. A pink dress with a cute yellow long sleeved shirt with clouds and stars on it, and, against most of her family's suggestion, her normal blue griffin cloak. She's fidgeting with a bag shaped like a shooting star when she sees Tap.]

[On the other hand, Tap isn't... that early. Rather, she only shows up about ten minutes early- An off-the-shoulder blouse, shorts, her long hair tied back in a ponytail, cute hairclips, the works. She's done her best to be as cute as possible for today, carrying a small bunny-shaped bag herself.]

Tau-chan! Woah, you got here super early... I hope you weren't waiting long!

I was not...waiting...too long...

[She definitely was waiting long, but she doesn't want to say that. She fidgets a little bit, trying to think of what to say or do.]

I...like your outfit...It is cute...

I'm glad! Thanks, Tau-chan! And yours is super cute, too!

[Tap does a little twirl in place- She thought long and hard before selecting the cutest outfit she had.]

You really like your cloaks, huh?

Yes...Papa made this cloak for me...I love it very much...

[She tugs at her cloak, a little anxious.]

I suppose...It does not go with the rest of the outfit....does it?

Hm.... I dunno about "going with" or not. But I think it's cute. A little bit of a mismatch can draw the eye, you know? And more than matching or not matching...

It's very Tau-like. And that's what makes it the cutest of all!

[Tau fidgets a bit more.]

Uhm...Shall we...get going? I know a good arcade nearby...or we could go to the movies...or something?

I do! Cute is cute and Tau-like is Tau-like, and Tau-like is the cutest cute of all!

Yeah! Hmmm, let's start with the arcade! Then once we're tired from that we can go sit down in the movies!

[Tau is sparkling. Whether it is from the compliments or the choice of going to the arcade, no one knows.]

[The arcade she leads them to was one of the larger ones in the city. As such, it was a pretty popular place. Tau usually avoids it for this reason, but it also has several games she likes that no other arcade around has.]

[She's IMMEDIATELY beelining for the DDR machine

and then doing a 180 and running back to Tau.]

[She's immediately bouncing over that way, bunny hopping over the bar to stand on the pads!]

I won't go easy on you! ... Or, so I wanna say, but I don't know a lot of music here, so you probably have the advantage...

[She says that, but when she's looking through songs, she tries to find one that seems a little easier to follow to start out.]

Sounds good! I trust your judgment! Since I don't know any of the songs, it'll be about all the same, right?

[Tau starts the song. It's a relatively easy beatmap to follow, and Tau follows it almost perfectly.]

[Though Tap follows it perfectly, as well, she's clearly not seen it before... and she's also instead just, adding her own flourishes in. Sometimes a twirl when she has time, sometimes a little hop between steps. She's not as good... but she's having a lot of fun with it.]

[Tau is impressed by the flourishes, though she is too scared of making a mistake to ever try it herself. She flips through songs, looking for the next one.]

Shall we...Add some spice?

[The preview of the song she landed on was pretty fast, but she would wait for Tap's response before selecting it.]

Oooh, yes! Let's heat it up! Spice it up like Indian curry!

Hmm? That so? [Chron has never once made Valentines gifts for anyone ~~except Sam,~~ so she has nothing to return... Except for a raised brow and confused expression.] But you're always hanging around with dad and I on Valentines Day?

That is true...And I will miss that...I suppose...However...I have a date...So I will be doing that instead...

Wait, huh? Like... a date with a person?

[Or is this a misunderstanding and Tau means like a date on the calendar?? It has to be that type of date. There's no way that Tau got a date before Chron.]

[Tau takes offence to that, its not like she's an idiot. She just gets confused sometimes.]

Her name is Tap...uhm...one second...look...

[She feels like she neeeds to prove that her date is with a real person, so pulls out her Starnet device, and pulls up a picture she took of Tap and herself. It's a cute selfie of the two of them at a cafe.]

[Chron waits patiently. She's pretty sure that this is some kind of joke or misunderstanding... But until she sees the picture, anyway.]

Wait, what the hell? She's hot!

You're going on a date with a cute bunny girl and I'm doing homework?!

[Somehow, somewhere else, Tap suddenly feels an ego boost.]

[That reaction fills Tau with a weird sense of pride. She doesn't question why, just basks in it.]

She is very cute...She thinks that I am cute too...

Maybe...if you did less homework...then you would also meet cute Fallen Stars?

[That is her trying to be helpful, but with her normal flat tone it may be hard to tell.]

Uuugh but but-! It's my last year and... uuuugh! It'll be a cold day in hell when I'm the last Yumeno to get a girlfriend!

[But she is confused at Chron's reaction.]

Yuuto-nii...has only been teaching me latte art? ...I do not know what that has to do with a date?...Do you think...Tap would like it...if I made her latte art for the date?

[The trouple is gathered in the kitchen and preparing to serve dinner when Tau makes her announcement. While Satou and Shugo are getting dishes, Mikale holds out his hand for the gift.]

You're not? Do you have a date, Tau?

I do...How did you guess? [The fact that Valentine's Day is usually a day for dates is completely lost on her.]

[Mikale chuckles softly. He doesn't want to tell her that the day made it obvious, since he doesn't want to seem like he's scolding or teasing her. As always, he's gentle with his approach.]

Just a hunch.

[And in contrast, Satou nearly drops the plates that she was setting.]

Huwah- Date? Date date date?

[But she doesn't sense any romance??? oh. Maybe she should clarify that before Shugo-]

[dad.exe is not responding.

just watching.]

Not four dates...just the one...

[Her mom and dad are acting weird, so she turns to her Papa, who seems normal.]

That is okay...right?

[Mikale looks over his shoulder.

Shugo is standing stiff as a board, shocked expression held in place.

Satou is looking from side to side, over and over, like a broken animatronic that doesn't know where to look.

He looks back to Tau and nods. yeah, this is as close to 'okay' as they're gonna get.]

Yes, of course that's fine. What's your date's name?

[Tau hasn't ever shown interest in her classmates, soo...] Are they a Fallen Star?

[She glances over to her other parents, still acting weird. But Mikale assured her that this is okay so...]

...She is...her nap is Tap...

[Is that enough of an introduction? She fidgets a little bit.]

She likes sweets...and video games...I am thinking...of taking her to the arcade I like...

An arcade sounds great! I bet that you'll have a lot of fun. You'll have to bring her by the cafe sometime so that we can meet her.

Oooh! Yeah, yeah! [Satou has mostly recovered now that she's heard that suggestion. She drags Shugo over while nodding,] I met her once. She seems really sweet!

[Shugo is still frozen.]

[Two out of three parents being their normal selves at once is really all Tau ever asks for, so this is fine.]

I would rather not tomorrow though...if that is okay...Uhm...are there any other places I should consider...if she does not want to go to the arcade? Or if we get bored there?

[And then, with Yuuto and Dimitri, there is an entirely different mood. Yuuto lowers the book that he'd been studying with his brother and disappears from his chair, reappearing on his feet with his hands by his side. Even now, he doesn't immediately realize that he's being given a gift.]

You made us Valentines' Day gifts? Really? Was it trouble?

[While Yuuto is full head empty (as usual,) Dimitri picks up on the implications here. Tau rarely goes on outings without family members and he doesn't remember anyone making plans with her.

He stands up like a normal person and crosses the study room, holding out his hand.]

You found a date, then?

[And suddenly Yuuto's whole demeanor changes: His belt stands straight up, his hair floofs, and he stands very stiff. It takes effort to look at Dimitri and confirm that his younger brother does not appear to be sarcastic. It takes less effort to swing his gaze back to Tau.]

With who?!

It was...effort...but I enjoyed it...

[Tau hands them both their chocolate.

And then Yuuto floofs up. Usually Tau loves that Yuuto projects his emotions, but now she's nervous she's done something wrong. Although, he doesn't seem to mad, just surprised.]

Uhm...with...Tap? She is very cute and sweet...And has ears like this [She mimics bunny ears with her arms.]

[What does he do? What does he do???

Yuuto holds the chocolate and desperately looks between Dimitri and Tau. He's never experienced Tau having a date! His big sister usually stayed single. If she was dating, then it went over his head (so it's very possible.) His belt sways in wide, anxious arcs that solve nothing.]

Wh-Wh-Whwhwhwhwh???

[Dimitri sighs and puts a hand on Yuuto's head, turning his gaze straight towards his sister. Enough of that. You're gonna get whiplash, you dumbass.]

If that's what you're into, then by all means. [He knows that Tau isn't actually expressing interest in bunny girls specifically. Dimitri is well aware that this is a misunderstanding. If Tau had a crush, then she'd be more confused than calm. He doesn't need to be a genius to know that his sister has trouble with choices and choosing a romantic partner would probably be a lot for her...

But boy howdy, is it funny how Yuuto's hair somehow deflates like a sad balloon when he says that. Yuuto looks like a wet cat now. Dimitri also enjoys how Yuuto expresses his emotions, but probably for different reasons than Tau does.]

Tap-san seems like a very nice girl. Have you decided where you're going yet?
