[Since the happenings of January, the Shrine of Love has been a very busy place. Satou is loaning her power for city repairs, taking reports from concerned citizens, and having to do a lot of damage control for the newly discovered Spacetime Kami. The lovey dovey nature of Valentines Day briefly throws love blessings and charms into the mix, making her days even busier.
With Valentines concluding, Satou can finally focus on the city again. If you catch her while she’s working, she will politely take names, requests, and make note of locations that still need some repairs. She doesn’t have much time for conversations that last longer than a few minutes. It isn’t until the days end and the shrine begins to shut down it’s public visitations that Satou can stop, breath, and hold a real conversation.]
[When you have problems, it's best to go to the source. As it happens, Soma has two reasons to visit Satou - each of them potentially embarrassing, though perhaps to different people in the equation. It's with one of these in mind that he approaches the shrine, expression somber. He'd put this off for long enough - too long, all things considered.
He does at least have the decency to wait til things wind down at the shrine. Ideally, she'll be alone - or at least able to arrange that situation.
Soma knocks politely after paying his respects properly at the shrine. There's even odds she might've picked up on the second reason he's there just from that.]
[Clean-up for the Shrine of Curiosity is mild, at least. Shugo is still sorting through all of the books to find the lying Rumor books that escaped notice in January, but he’ll admit that it could have been worse. The shrine is swarming with spirit cat guards, who are being much more proactive in guarding the shrine.
Most days, Shugo is outside of his office and working in the library proper. He doesn’t have time for his personal research and instead spends his days patrolling the shelves for unwanted guests. While most of the visitors can be helped by the spirits, Shugo can’t entrust them with any actual guard duty.
The coffee maker has been moved to the front desk and Shugo frequents it, often finding time to at least greet visitors before he retreats back to the shelves.]
[Kokoro doesn't trust Shugo one bit, but asking Satou for help? When she's not only extremely busy but also likely to clue into Kokoro's reluctant romance troubles? Nope, absolutely not. So she's just going to try and check out the library herself. Shugo might find her also checking out the shelves, looking suspiciously at any book that seems to scream "not meant to be checked out."]
[The ‘new’ kami sees an unusual amount of people during the month of February. Usually this plaza hosts a simple door frame, which stands alone in the center. Now, it is dotted with small stone shrines that are labeled with handmade signs. Even after Valentine’s Day, Yuuto keeps the mini shrines decorated and labeled with the spirits’ names; He directs all starling donations there.
When the crowds do thin, Yuuto can be found in and out of the shrine itself with his eyes glowing pink. He has one hand tangled in invisible Spacetime strings, while the other is making notes in a book that floats by his side. Even though he looks distracted, it’s impossible to sneak up on him without him noticing an approach. He’ll usually put his work away for a polite greeting.
Yuuto stays at the shrine late into the night. When the stars begin coming out, he’ll usually set up a telescope and help teach curious citizens about the stars. He doesn’t typically go home until after midnight.]
[ Late at night, a new visitor approaches. Clad in her ever-present red hood and cape, she cheerfully skips past the shrines, humming a tune. The shrine seemed important, so she had to investigate!
For many, many, reasons.
She spots Yuuto, the one that clearly stands out amongst the crowd, and decides he's the one she needs to wave at. ]
Hello~! Excuse me, are you available?
[ Her face is bright and cheery. Though, Yuuto may notice that if he tries to see her soul, it's concentrated towards her hair. Physically, it's in a barrette she wears... it's where she's hiding her gem. ]
[His eyes only flash briefly as he checks her soul, but he shows no sign of surprise. She isn't the first person that he's met whose soul is outside his own concept of 'normal.'
[Her strange soul, unfamiliar face, and strangely confrontational introduction make sense. She must be a new Fallen Star. In which case, coming to his shrine and being upset at him is a natural reaction. Yuuto doesn't let himself tense, even if he's nervously. He doesn't want to do anything that might make him seem threatening.
So he bows deeply, unafraid to completely lower his head in front of her.]
I'm sorry. I think there's been a misunderstanding. Could you elaborate?
You brought me to a new place, where the people actually know about magic. I haven't seen that rodent around here, and I only vaguely know there's a couple more of me wandering around.
Usually, I don't show up in places like this unless I'm needed, so. What do you want.
['More of her,' huh? When he stands straight again, Yuuto looks at her soul. He keeps his thoughts to himself.]
I'm terribly sorry if this disappoints you, but I didn't bring you here. There's a lot of strange stuff happening... Would you be willing to take a seat and talk with me?
Okay then, Mr. Yuuto! I'll hear you out, just because I'm such a kind, understanding girl. After all, you wouldn't start lying to new friends, would you?
[He shakes his head,] My apologies, but I really don't know a lot about what's happening. From what we've gathered, the 'Fallen Stars' may have been summoned here by an organization that creatively calls itself 'the Facility.'
Ah but that's... I'd need to explain some terms before we get that far. Am I first the person you've approached about this matter?
I've gotten some info from the locals. 'Fallen Stars' are the ones being pulled in from some other world. They told me it's the 'Spacetime Kami' who's to blame.
Ever the one to defend the locals, even at the cost of his self image, Yuuto frowns at the realization.
Then he shakes his head.]
No, they weren’t. The civilians of this city aren’t aware of all of the details… As far as they know, then yes. I’m the one responsible for everything.
Unfortunately, I can’t send you all back. Not yet, anyway. I’m still trying to find out how to do that.
[ The red hooded girl readjusts just a bit, resting an ankle on her opposite knee, pondering her situation. Really, with how painfully frustrating everything had gotten recently, she could actually use a break.
Still, she can't get herself to relax. It all felt too good to be true. Her gem was still clipped to her hair, so her soul still wasn't in her body. She was still every bit the monster that she was when she went to sleep in her own bed the night before.
...It occurred to her at this moment, that she didn't have any cigarettes on her person. Tch. ]
Listen. I'm sure your town or your world or whatever is a nice place full of good people.
[ There's venom certainly dripping from those words. ]
So I'll stay until I'm a little less pissed off. Maybe it'll keep me from strangling someone.
...[ Wait. ] Is this going to be one of those repentance things? I'm letting you know right now, I'm not apologizing anymore.
Would you let me help you find a better place, then? I know this city quite well! If you can describe what makes you most comfortable, then I may know where to direct you!
Oh, would you?! I'd love it if you could! Oh, I like living in cozy homes, oh, and it has to be close to a forest, and should have a lot of flowers nearby too...!
[ She still hasn't grown out of this, unfortunately. ]
Oh, I know places like that! There are cottages on the lower levels. If you don’t mind a bit of a walk to get to the city center, then you could live there!
[One day, a familiar friend shows up; clad in her Shrine Maiden's uniform, Pidonus starts by offering a bit of prayer to multiple of the spirits. It happens to be at a time when things are slower, almost like the demoness was specifically waiting for such.]
[Samantha is keeping herself very busy! She can be found on the city streets from late night until early morning, patrolling her trouble using her empathy ability. When she isn’t on patrol, Samantha either naps in the park or visits the training center.
The other thing worth noting is that she will be avoiding the shrines! Samantha actually goes out of her way to avoid them.]
[Aimee ends up a the training center at the same time. Learning to use her powers terrifies her, especially now that she's alone. But it's the most practical action to take after everything she's heard. This place could go to hell at any moment, it's not that different from home. She can't keep running forever.
That's what she told herself before she remembered that she hates it.]
Why does training have to hurt so much...?
[Can she collapse? She wants to collapse. She's going to collapse dramatically at Sam's feet, not noticing her presence.]
Because you're getting stronger! Change is painful!
[Samantha looks down at Aimee, hands on her hips but a light smile sneaking onto her face. This reaction reminds her of Shugo and it's kind of nostalgic... Grinning more fondly, she offers her hand.]
[Aimee stops her whining, because that’s basically what she’s doing, only now realizing that someone was talking to her. Which means she just collapsed like a pathetic idiot in front of this person.
She looks up, desperately hoping the floor will swallow her before she does, squawking because oh no it’s a cool girl!]
Please forgive me, I—I’m in your way.
[It would be impolite to reject her hand so she takes it, feeling like she might pass out from the blood rushing to her face.]
[ Some nights, Karin chooses not to sleep. Could be because she didn't find a place to squat for the night, or that she's trying to kill time. Making the decision to accept sticking around a bit longer wasn't a fun decision, but she'll live.
Surprisingly, she catches a glimpse of someone out patrolling.
--Oh, it's that girl again. ]
Ain't it time for all good boys and girls to be in bed?
[ She didn't seem like a hellcat or anything, but considering the amount of magical girls around here... ]
[Samantha turns her gaze from the city to Karin's face, keeping a fairly neutral expression. She thinks that might understand Karin. At least enough that she doesn't get offended by the suggestion.]
That's the problem, right? All of the 'good' kids are sleeping, so the naughty ones are gonna be wide wake!

Yuuto guides her to a bench.]
Thank you for being so understanding! To start! Someone else brought you here, but somehow I'm keeping you here! I don't know why.

[ Oh god. She was caught off guard by that-- what the hell's with this guy? ]

[ Okay. Flat out, then. ]
So this is really a completely separate world. No Witches or Wraiths or any garbage like that?
no subject
Yuuto shakes his head.]
No, neither of those exist here. The closet we have are the concepts of ‘Rumors’ and ‘Distortions.’
Do the names ‘Asakura’ and ‘Aisaka’ mean anything to you?
no subject
[ Suddenly she's upbeat again! ]
The other one's her friend. Long blue hair, kinda scary sometimes, right? Yup! I know them!
They're magi, just like me! ♥︎

I see!
They're both here as well, mm! We've found a way to keep their gems clear as well. I'll have to let them both know that you're here, miss..?

Oh, is that so, also? How pray tell, might that be?
no subject
If you don't mind... What's your name?

So then, Mr. Yuuto! How bad is it going to be?

You’ll want to visit the Shrine of Sin. Hanyuu-san can clear your gem!

no subject
[ She maybe apologized and meant it once in her whole life, and it came out of desperation. Never again, she can rally the troops some other way. ]

Mmmm.... okay, that works for me. If I get lost, how do I get in touch?
