Good afternoon. This is Atsushi Nakajima of the Armed Detective Agency speaking. I'm sorry to bring up something so unpleasant, but it's almost January and 'the Wish Maker' has promised to cause some trouble then. They threatened to start turning the spirits in this city into 'Rumors' and to threaten the kami who guards this city.

Those 'Rumors' are a type of corruption that occurs to spirits. We dealt with some earlier in the year. It causes the spirits a lot of pain and makes them very dangerous. And the kami in question is the Kami of Love, Satou-san. There have been many attempts to weaken her power this year, so it can't be a good thing.

Uh sorry. Right, my point is.

I think that we'll be able to get more done if we work together! I'm going to post a list of some clues that we picked up earlier this year. If I miss any, please let me know! Let's go through the list and see if we have any new information. If not, we should decide what needs to investigated?

Our priority is probably this 'Wish Maker.' They're associated with something called 'The Facility,' 'Rumors,' and 'Distortions.'

★ Mu & Marbles

One of the Facility Children, named 'Mu,' appeared to become a Distortion in August. From what I understand, it means that she's really unstable and dangerous? I think some people met her recently. And she had given out some marbles?

Do we have any leads for her?

I haven't seen her lately, but I can confirm what you've said. I don't believe she intends to cause us any harm, but that doesn't make her any less potentially dangerous.

As long as we hold onto the marbles she provided to some of us, I believe we can save her. We have to keep hold of her resolve.

No definitive leads to her location, but she has come out a few times.

The marbles... I don't have a perfect handle, but they seem to reflect specific elements of her emotions. Like, the one I took represented her anger.

I then saw her more recently, but her state was... Flat. So the different emotion marbles are portions of her state.

She wants to be saved. I just wish I knew how.

★ Facility Children / "Cursed Children" | cw: child abust

I should elaborate that this 'Facility' kidnaps kids and tries to turn them into kami. They all seem to be abused and neglected there. They're terrified of leaving.

This isn't really an investigation, but

I wanted to try to make some of those knitted scarves for them. Would anyone be able to help me? I'm really slow at knitting.

★ The Train / Conductor-chan

I think some of us were going to try to use the train again..? How's that coming?

And has anyone checked in on that little Conductor? Will she get cold down there? Should any of us be worried?

I'm plannin' on goin' ta meet up with the Conductor-chan that's on this side. If she's gettin' cold, we can bring some blankets and scarves and some warm food down there, too.

★ The Facility

This one is going to be really hard, since their whole thing seems to be 'really good at hiding,' but:

We know that some of us did go to a copy of the Facility earlier in the year. I'm told that it was sort of like a memory and wasn't the real thing. But we also know that the 'Cursed Children' are returning to the Facility frequently. It has to be a real physical place.

Is it in this city or somewhere else? I have no idea how to tell.

If we can find it, our options to screw with it and weaken it before we get to, you know, saving the kids potentially become much greater. Break their position, bit by bit.

★ Fauna-chan's "Train Station" Clue

I hope you don't mind me listing this for your, Fauna-chan.

After the Mirror-Me incident, a few of us were given clues. Ariel-san gave Fauna-chan a particular clue through a mission. Here's what I wrote down about it:

"Ariel pointed to a mirror that showed a train station. It had figures wearing animal masks gathered around it and a pink flower on the boarding platform. Ariel showed the number 3 with her fingers."

Fauna-chan suspects that it is a hint to the location of the Facility. Any thoughts? How would we find that platform and what does the number mean?

★ Asakura-chan's "Books" Clue

Pardon me again.

Mirror-Me had shown Asakura-chan some book titles as well. They were called "Kami & Shrines," "Light & Dark," and "Read Me Not." She mentioned that the "Read Me Not" book looked like it had recently been put on a returns' cart.

The first two books make a lot of sense with what we know about the Facility's motives, but the last one seems really weird? Is anyone here good at sorting through libraries? If Shugo-san hasn't gotten it for us already, then it must be hard to find.

I have an ability that lets me scan objects and see what's inside 'em, so I might be able to do that with bookcases, too. It might take me a while to do each one, but I wanna try.

★ Mordio-chan's "Notes" Clue

Mordio-chan also saw some notes when Mirror-Me gave everyone visions. She was good enough to write them down for us:

Kami of Love = Family?? Friends??"

Do these ring a bell for anyone? The Kami of Love is mentioned, so maybe we should follow-up on this one?

Pardoned, and I still don't know for sure. But the idea that power was PASSED TO the Kami of Love does get me thinking.

He's come up a few times, but this person seems to know a lot about 'Distortions' in particular. He's made open threats against Tau-chan, Mu-chan, and Yuuto-san.

If he knows about Distortions, then could he help us with the Wish Maker?

★ Kami of Light

When some of us were kidnapped to the Facility, they found out that the Facility wanted to turn them into the 'Kami of Light.'

Have we gathered any information since then? And...

Sorry to bring up something so unpleasant, but do any of you from that experiment remember anything?

Also! In the same experiment as above, some people instead reported that they were supposed to become 'the Kami of Nothing.'

Does anyone have more details on that? What even is that? It sounds really complicated to be a kami of nothing?

So far the only person that we know from the Facility itself is someone named 'Terrel.' Are there any ways to look up more about him? It sounds like he's the one who orders the kids around. How have we never seen him ourselves?

★ The Wish Maker

I don't even know where to begin...

We know that they gran wishes for spirits and turn them into Rumors

but how do we stop people from wishing for things?

This is an idea I've been thinking about for a while, but...

The Wish Maker said that they are coming on New Years, correct? Back in my world, people would pray at shrines on New Years day.

I do not know if it is the right course of action, but...

Instead of stopping people entirely from wishing for things, would it be feasible to mitigate it and redirect the wishes instead? What does everyone else think?

It's kinda obvious from my username here, but my name's Ushio. I'm not very smart either, but we've got my fists!

And probably some other things too, but this sounds cooler!!

★ Wishing Board

I don't know how many of you guys have already seen it, but the fifth wish that's written on the wishing board this month is a bit concerning.

I'm thinking of doing several things here.

1) Combating the problem. I'll be seeing what I can do to upgrade the security of the wishing boards themselves.

2) I'm also thinking of seeing if I can program something so that an incident like this doesn't happen again. There's a few concepts that I have in mind, if people are both willing to hear me out and also cooperate.

3) See if people want to stakeout several of the Wishing Boards again. Probably in pairs/trios.

Feel free to comment your ideas and thoughts if you have any.

I can keep a watch on the top-level's Wishing Board overnight. I'm usually awake around that time anyway.

THE OTHER FLOORS // un: advisor

I've noticed that we, as in the Fallen Stars, don't seem to have much in the way of familiarity with the other levels of the city. I've been researching what I can over the past month or so, and here's what I've learned.

The top-level most of us reside in is nearly like a typical city, infused with spirit magic that we've become familiar with. There's a residential and commercial area, and seems to be quite a wide forest at the edge of town. I haven't been able to properly deduce the scale yet.

The fourth level is fairly peaceful, and seems to be a place where spirits can take a more structured form due to the amount of power generated from magic in the air. That said, the area itself isn't well structured: I believe this may be due to the modular form the level takes, as well as clashing ideas as to how they want the area to be. The residents themselves can take on a visible form, but are unable to move between levels without losing that visibility.

The third level is calmer than the fourth, and feels like a place of respite. There's a small village as well as a couple of hot springs. Might be nice if you're feeling stressed, especially during this tense time.

The second level is based around agriculture. You're allowed to take up a job working on the farms in exchange for room and board, It's split into four seasons, and it seems as if the farmers and spirits interact quite a lot on this level, and have stronger bonds as a result.

It seems like there may be a generational divide as it pertains to the lowest level, with younger residents feeling more open to the idea of spirits. Otherwise, it seems to be mostly lacking in faith. These are all based on my observations. If anyone else has anything they'd like to share, please feel free.

That kind of generational divide doesn't surprise me.

But as long as it exists, we could use the elders on the first floor to learn more about this world's history. It may help us understand what's to come. Has anyone tried interviewing them about it?

LIBRARY UPDATE

I found the three books that Ryoko was talkin' about!

I made sure ta copy 'em, so if anybody wants ta read 'em, just let me know. But here's the short version:

1) The Kami 'n Shrines book talks 'bout how kami 'n their shrines work - with emphasis on the value of a physical shrine bein' a way for a kami to assert their presence 'n gain faith, and lists that the most well known native shrines are fer Love, Curiosity, Destruction, Spacetime and Seasonal.

2) The Light 'n Dark book talks about that folk tale from a few months ago? How the world was created by the kami of light 'n dark, how they were a couple, but their touchin' kept on destroyin' the world repeatedly before they agreed to separate in order to save that world. That it's 'cause of their love that the world continues ta exist.

3) And the last one. Read Me Not? It's a map of train lines, which're marked by symbols such as colored flowers, diamonds, squares 'n circles. I think someone was talkin' 'bout tryin' ta find a specific train station before...? This one should be able ta help with that.

Has anyone else had a visit from Ariel lately? She entertained a question I had: if the only way we can deal with the Wish Maker is just to defeat it. If possible, I wanted to try to save them. Or at least, save the "voices" I heard.

She told me there might be a way to rescue someone that's been "distorted". There are three people we need to find... but, I need to make absolutely sure that this information can't be accessed by anyone we don't trust.

"The one who destroyed many worlds prior."

"The one who learned to destroy Distortions."

...I also found out this way that the Wish Maker is from the Facility itself. Ariel said they "work" there, in a way. If we're able to... we might be able to get more information when it shows up again about the Facility as a whole.

They certainly spoke as if they were from the Facility, and didn't protest my assumption.

Ariel contacted me as well. That seems to be the reason for taking over the Spacetime Shrine.
