(mingle) Happy Birthday Tau!

Happy Birthday, Tau!
Forward Dated To: October 5th
Tau's birthday is on October 5th and it's a big deal to her family. Though they've been careful to plan things to a quiet and manageable scale, on account of Tau being an introvert, but that doesn't mean that they haven't gone above and beyond for their beloved daughter and sister.
The party takes place at a park near the Shrine of Love. The trees have been magick'ed to shades of blue, pink, and yellow and the spirits (& Samantha) have helped to grow a multitude of flowers. Star and moon decorations brighten the park even when night falls, contributing to an overall light and cheerful atmosphere. And of course, there is plenty of food: Hors d'oeuvre tables, drink tables, and of course plenty of desserts are being offered to the guests. And for those feeling generous, there is a table for putting gifts on.
As for party activities... Well, Tau is a quiet person, so the activities are also quiet. There are a few easels set up, where people can paint pictures in the little artist's honor, as well as a table with art supplies and paper for experimenting. Tables for snacking at are scattered around the park with ample distance between them, allowing for small groups to meet together without conversations blending into a ruckus. The focus of the party is quiet mingling.
But how, pray tell, does one gain an invite to this garden party?
Network Post - September 30th | UN: starlight
Good afternoon! I'm sorry for the trouble!
My little sister, Tau, has a birthday coming up on the 5th of October. We're going to throw a party at one of the parks and I'm sure she'd love to see you all there! She's an introvert, so it'll be a low-key sort of party? I'll be helping to make the food, so if you have any requests then let me know!
I hope to see you all there!
The party itself is an open mingle! Please make top-levels and tag out as you please!

[Tau was a little nervous about having a birthday party that wasn't just her family, but she was also pretty excited too. If people came that means she had friends, right? She even dressed up a little. She spent a little bit of time oohing and aweing over the decorations]
This is...very pretty....I love it!
II. Painting
[Normally, Tau wasn't the neatest painter in the world. But that was at home, where she was wearing clothes that were already ruined from paint. So today, she was going slower, and trying to be neater as she painted the party around her. As always there were differences from what was actually going on. All her at tends to fall into a chaotic stream of conciousness that lended towards her surrealism style. She did want to see what other people were painting though, so when she needed to wait for some of her paint to dry, she wandered to another painter.]
That...is looking nice...
III. Cake
[As much fun as the party has been, she was looking forward to the food and especially the cake. So, later on in the party, after the sky started dimming and the star and moon decorations shone bright, she could be found at one of the tables, with a large slice of chocolate cake. She had a large smile on her face as she munched.]
Have you...had some of the cake yet? It is...really good...

He blinks when he notices Tau looking at his painting and he feels... self conscious. It was going to be part of his gift to her, but he's unsure if it's good enough for that. It was a painting of Tau and Yuuto, since he was quite aware she had a favorite.
This way whatever happened, she'd be able to remember both this version of Yuuto, and himself if she ever wanted to. Besides, it was cute that she cared so much for her brother. And for once he didn't let the dreary reasoning rule his actions. ]
I sketched on the canvas first... I'm not the best at mixing the paints however. It doesn't look quite right.
[ Making skin tone paint is hard, much less matching it to their skin tones. ]

I think...It looks fine...Art is...not meant to be perfect...But...if you would like help...with mixing paints...I could try and give advice?

[Yuuto appears next to his sister, dressed in similar shades of blue and pink to match her. He isn't going to monopolize her time too much (he has every other day to do that,) but he is eager to see her reaction to the party decorations.]
You really like it? I'm glad! We did our best to make a dreamland for you!

[Tau was sparkling as she looked around the park.]
It is...very dreamy...It is...so pretty...and comfy...Thank you, Yuuto-nii...
[She doesn't want to risk him vanishing yet, so she grabs his hand. She's still a bit nervous about the party.]
Uhm...Show me...what all has been done?

[It definitely wasn't her mom.]
Thank you...It has been...fun...I am glad people came...Oh...Have you...been having fun?

[She hands over a box wrapped in the Starsand newspaper. Inside is a DVD movie from the bargain bin from the local department store (because this is too much of a utopia to have a Walmart), one of those classic 80s romcoms where there's a love triangle with an obvious answer and there's also a hockey game against a bunch of buff Slavic dudes. Hey, it's Velda, she's never been known for having money.]
And don't worry! Your party's fun. It's kinda relaxing, but I guess that's because you're that kind of person.

[With a small smile, she took the box. The soft almost neutral statement, was accompanied by Tau quickly shredding the newspaper. She knows she was supposed to put it on the present table instead, but it was her party. She tilted her head at the DVD, but kept smiling.]
Thank you...Velda...
Ah...you think...I am fun and relaxing?
[She was fun? There were a couple faint glittering sparkles at the thought.]

Wuzzat?
[ Oh, shoot. It's the birthday girl. She slowly swallows down her mouthful so she can talk to Tau properly. ]
I-I mean, yeah! It really is... Sorry, I just haven't had cake in ages.
no subject
Do not be sorry...this is...a party...We should all...be eating a bunch of cake...and having fun...I hope... everyone has fun at least...
[Tau fidgets for a moment, trying to think of something more to say.]
Oh. What is your favorite kind of cake? Mine is chocolate...
no subject
I kinda figured - I mean, otherwise why would they make you chocolate cake, you know?
[ She finally manages to find a napkin despite her blind grabbing - she hasn't looked away from Tau's face this entire time, out of fear of being seen as rude - and hastily scrubs at her face with it. ]
I think my favorite's probably red velvet. It always seemed so fancy, you know? Like, why did they decide to call it that?
i
It is pretty nice, isn't it? Oh - [ Hanyuu holds up a bag. ] I did get you something as a gift. I made it myself, but I'm not sure if you needed something like this or would like it, but... Um. If you don't, I can owe you something later...!
[ If Tau peers inside, what she'll find is a hand knitted scarf in the colors of her normal outfit with her name stitched onto it in a bright golden yellow. ]

[Tau takes the bag with a soft "thank you", and immediately looks inside. She pulls it partially out to get a better look at it.]
I love it...It is very pretty...
[She starts to take it fully out of the bag, and then looks over at where all the easels are set up, and then slowly puts it back in the bag.]
I will wear it later...But it will...be worn a lot...I am sure...So there is... no need to owe me anything...

Well.
Remembering that giant fox plushie Tau won at the summer festival, Fauna's thought long and hard about what Tau might like for her birthday. She really liked that, right? And Tau's... a kami of dreams, which means night, which means....
Well, to make a long story short, Fauna's arriving. If you can see her at all, because she's carrying an owl plushie as big as she is. It has a little bow on it.]
no subject
You can set it down there...I made something...to carry it...
no subject
[Fauna sets the owl plushie down on the cloud, and then stretches.
You can probably hear her back pop a little bit from it...]
Happy birthday, Tau.
II.
He's trying to paint the multicolored trees for starters, but they just look like...multicolored broccoli. He grimaces, looking almost embarrassed when Tau approaches him.]
Calling it nice is very generous. [But more importantly.] Happy Birthday, Tau. Are you enjoying the party?
no subject
[She gives him an unimpressed look when he brushes off her compliment.]
Nice is nice...Especially since your...creative medium...is the piano...not paints...Do not be hard on yourself...
Sorry for the delay! Lmk if you want to handwave
[She’s scolding him (albeit gently)? That only flusters him more. He glances back at the painting, clicking his tongue.]
It’s not that— it doesn’t have to be nice, but you’re the artistic expert. I’ll trust your judgment.
Hey, same hat XD
I...do think that it is nice...I like the colors...
[Honestly, she says that more because she's happy he's making something at her party (and that he's at her party), but she wasn't going to back down now.]
I also...believe...that it is much more important...to...uhm... [she gestures something with her hands as she struggles to find the right word.] put....energy? heart? Into a creation...than to have it...look perfect...
