[Today, everyone who is participating in the Autumn Fest will find something... somewhat unusual as they take up their guns:

A very small Mega is floating in front of them, reciting a pre-recorded speech. Weird, but probably very cute.]

Attention, everyone playing in the Autumn Fest! I'm Mega, the Kami of Games, host of this game, and I'm cheering for all of you! But also, I'm here with a rules update!

Things are close, and I can feel the spirit in the air... Given that all three teams are so close, we're entering overtime to settle things! We're extending the time by one week! The final score tally will now be on September 25! All three teams, it's time for the last push, so let's all do our best!

And for the winning team... we're going to talk about prizes!

[A small burst of confetti and fanfare erupt from the tiny Mega, as she continues.]

First of all, until the start of October, the winning team will have all of the painted leaves become their color! Signs of your victory will be all across Starsand! You'll get to live your dream!

Second of all, all members of the winning team will get to keep your paint guns! By refilling their paint at the local shrines, you can use them to change the colors of anything you like! No mess, just fun! Also, as a bonus, they can be water guns if you load them up with water instead of paint, but it is a little late in the year unless you want to put in holy water or something... That would be weird.

And finally, the MVPs from each team will receive a special prize! A special amulet made with the power of several kami in unison... When you use this amulet's power, you can create a special zone of privacy! Courtesy of the bashful Kami of Curiosity, these little privacy zones keep people from eavesdropping or watching you so you can whisper sweet nothings and be as romantic as you want with your loved one! Be as sappy as you want and no one can hear your cute little pet names!

But even if your team doesn't win, we have a consolation prize anyway! I've made little houseplants for everyone who participated in your team's color! Even if you don't win, you can still celebrate your efforts, and next year, you can try again! Don't ever give up, even after the end! Games will always come back to let you play again!

[True to her words, Mega is spending her day at the Shrine of Games! She does seem to be distant, like she's watching a million things at once, though. She really is overseeing the game.]

Even for something seemingly inconsequential? I suppose that's what makes you a Kami of Games.

If you're having fun, then nothing is inconsequential!

Really? I'd think something serious would be more, well, meaningful.

Isn't that a boring way to look at the world? What's the meaning in a life without fun?

Will it not be enough to ensure that others can have a happy and peaceful life, even if you must deny yourself the same joy?

Absolutely not.

...Why? I can't leave the world to fall to ruin. None of us can.

That doesn't mean you can let your own mind and soul be sacrificed for it. No one would want that.

Fun is something everyone deserves to have.

...What of attachment to this world and the people we've met here when our stay will -- no, needs be temporary?

Just because it's temporary, doesn't mean it can't have meaning.

All things end one day. That doesn't make the relationships you've had meaningless.

[ THE DOOR BURSTS OPEN WITH A CLATTER OF SOUND.

Kaito is standing there, gasping for air, paint gun slung over one shoulder. ]

Show... show me... the plants.

[ Yes, he ran all the way here. ]

[doesplaydice]

... You mean the plants for participating...?

[luminarian]

[ He stands up a little straighter, though he's still got his arms braced against the door frame. ]

Yes, exactly! Those ones!

[doesplaydice]

... I can, but painting those won't get you any extra points for the game, you know...?

[luminarian]

Wh- I'm not here for points! I wanna see what they look like!

[doesplaydice]

Doesn't that mean I shouldn't let you until it's time...? You know, they're prizes, after all!

[luminarian]

They're literally participation trophies! We're all gonna get them! Besides, I just wanna figure out where they might look good in my place - especially if we're gonna end up with a few of them...

[doesplaydice]

Hmmm.... That is a good point, but it still doesn't seem right...

[She's sort of... rotating in place, floating around like gravity has no hold on her.]

I've got it! We'll play a little game for it!

[luminarian]

A game? You mean I have to play a game just to look at something I'm gonna end up with anyway?!

[ Mega, he ran all the way here... ]

Man, you really sound like Kokichi... What the hell, I'm down. Do your worst!

[doesplaydice]

It's a game for the sneak preview!

[Mega lifts her hands, and a coin materializes in the air in front of her, which she grabs out of the air.

She then tosses the coin back and forth between her hands, faster and faster, spinning around, swapping it behind her back around and around, shuffling it until it's moving faster than the eye can see.... and then she stops, holding out two clenched fists in front of Kaito.]

Left or right. Pick a hand. Pick the hand with the coin and you win!

[luminarian]

[ By the time she's done, Kaito finds himself feeling dizzy. He clutches at his head and groans. ]

Isn't this pretty much just a game of chance? The only way I can guess right at this point is getting lucky...

[ And Kaito happens to be notoriously unlucky. Fortunately for Mega, he is also notoriously big-headed. Just as soon as he stops complaining, he points to her left hand with a large flourish. ]

That one! I'd bet my life on it!

[ HE'D BETTER NOT.... ]

[Oh? Interesting. He seems to have decided quickly, too... She isn't opening her hand just yet, however.]

Oh? That's some remarkable guts. Why that one?
