[Luckily(?) for Leo, Elliot is far more interested in the outline for his best friend's book than whatever Leo is busy putting into his tote bag.]
I wouldn't lie to you. [Usually.] And don't waste money on the same product!
[Elliot yells, irritation dying when he hears that cryptic comment. Maybe the outline can wait. Maybe he should go after Leo right now--
But Leo's already out the door, leaving him alone with his story.]
Alright. Let's see what you're acting so weird over.
[Elliot meant it when he said he'd read it seriously. He normally likes to take his time when reading, but it doesn't take long for Elliot to notice the parallels...and he ends up reading it much more quickly than he intended.
Not even the Holy Knight series has made his heart race like this during its most tense moments. Elliot grips the pages tightly, accidentally wrinkling them in his hands, his heart pounding loudly in his ears as the words blur together. Everything starts adding up: the soft way Leo looked at him in the cafe, his temper at that meeting and stupid game, the fact that he raised is hand to Tau's question.
They didn't raise their hand.
He's Leo's crush. Leo meant him. It would be a terrible idea to pursue it, Elliot's supposed to be protecting him, yet--]
I'm an idiot.
[Elliot whispers to no one, placing a palm over his forehead as he allows himself to cry alone. After a minute he realizes Leo never came back. The ending suddenly has much more ominous implications that leave a leaden weight on Elliot's heart. Standing up and knocking the chair over, he runs out of their apartment, still clinging to the papers in his hand as he runs around looking for Leo. There are so many things he wants to say, but he just wants to be with Leo, and he's not returning home until he finds him, even if it takes all night or several days.]
LEO!
[He shouts his name repeatedly as he looks, but he doesn't sound angry, just worried and desperate.]
